Chapter 2

2131 Words
Olivia "What did you just say?!" I questioned as I rose up subconsciously. My chair scraped the floor and it let out an unpleasant sound. We are werewolves. The sound the chair made was magnified. My father watched me with a stern gaze. "Sit down!" He ordered. For the first time in my life, I disobeyed my parents. I refused to sit down. I can not understand. What are they spewing? It wasn't like I don't know English words but when my father said that sentence, I could not understand. My father clenched his fists as he furrowed his brows. He was getting furious, I could tell. However, this time around, I did not care about his anger. My mother held his hand to pacify him. "Olivia, what's wrong with you? Did you not hear your father's instructions?" She asked me. I looked at the faces of the people present here. None of them had surprise written on their face. They knew. I stumbled back in shock. They all knew that Orla and Kyle were going to end up together. I was the only one in the dark. I was gullible. "I heard him loud and clear." I said wryly but I maintained my standing position. Why are they doing this to me? The one thing I liked, they took it away from me. No. The person I liked seemed to dislike me. Kyle didn't say any words in opposition. His silence meant he agreed. I felt like a jumping clown. I was the only one that was agitated. "Let her stand if she wants. It doesn't stop us from talking and it doesn't stop her from hearing out words either." My brother, Martin commented. My mother nodded and my father calmed down. "Orla is pregnant." My father dropped another bombshell. I put my hand on my chair and used it as a support system for my body. I felt all my strength leave me. Orla was pregnant? I looked at her. She held her stomach in a protective grip as she watched me warily. She was looking at me like I would want to harm her pup. Pain ran through my body. Celina, my wolf howled in my mind. My nails elongated and retracted. I felt like killing someone. For a pregnancy to come into the picture, it meant Kyle and Orla had slept together. They must have been seeing each other for months. I was wondering why Kyle became distant. Now, I knew why. It was because of my good twin sister. Orla knew Kyle was my fated mate and fiancee. "Orla, why? Kyle was my fiancee." I said numbly. Orla blushed a little as she stole a glance at Kyle. Indulgence was in Kyle's pupils. The scene burned my eyes. "Sister, feelings are things that can't be controlled. I don't know why I fell for Kyle too. My love just came like my breathing." Orla said before lowering her head like she did something wrong. I could see where all this is going but I was unwilling to see the situation head in that direction. I did not want to lose this last bit of light in my life. "Olivia, enough of this defiance! Can't you see how pitiful your sister is? Do you think she would want to fall in love with Kyle by her on conscious will?" My father asked. His anger was coming back. I chuckled. All of them was ready to protect their little princess. "Besides, the marriage agreement with the Romans didn't specify a name or person. The arranged marriage between the Thompsons and the Romans just speculated that a girl must honor the marriage. It can be you and it can be Orla." My mother said. Her words caused a chill to run down my spines. This was my mother. I was her child too. "Kyle and I are fated mates. Our union had been ordained by the moon goddess." I argued. I wanted to make a last stand. "Olivia, I admit that I fell in love with you before. Now, I realized my feelings wasn't love. I had fallen in love with Orla." Kyle finally spoke, "The moon goddess had made a mistake. I was mated to the wrong twin." I laughed. Now, I was the wrong twin. "I am not going to let a mate bond stop me from pursuing my happiness." Kyle continued. My eyes widened at his words. "What are you going to do?" I asked frantically. This matter was going from bad to worst. "Olivia, accept the rejection when the time comes. Don't cause unnecessary pain and delay to yourself." My mother advised with what she might have considered a warm smile. "Don't do this." I said but my words fell on deaf years. My brother stared at me like I was a source of entertainment. Orla had been taking everything from me since we were young. Was that not enough? Why did she aet her evil eyes on my fiancee? There was numerous suitors lining our doors. Although some of them might not be as established as Kyle was, their prospects was good. Orla had always refused the advances of her suitors. I thought she was waiting for a Mr Right like Kyle was to me. I did not know that she would want my own Mr Right for herself instead. The painful thing was,bi didn't even notice their rendezvous. I was clueless and stupid. "I am sorry." Kyle apologized, "I, Alpha Kyle of Moonclaw pack reject you, Olivia Thompson as my mate and Luna." Celina howled. My head rang and I leaned more if my weight on the chair. It was like I was boneless. Pain wrecked my body. I bit my lips to stop any sounds that would leave my mouth. The mate bond I had always rejoiced in snapped into unredeemable pieces. I felt like one half of my soul was ripped away with a blunt knife. The agony was intense. I passed for air. My family watched me unfeeling. Nobody extended a hand to help me. I never felt so alone. Celina stopped howling and she became quiet. I tried to reach her but I couldn't. "Take her to her room." My father instructed my brother. "No need." I spat and I struggled to stand up. Sweat beaded on my forehead. My oalls was clammy and cold. "I would not like to stress you." I said sarcastically, "You have already done enough. Giving everything to Orla wasn't enough, she just had to set her filthy eyes on my fiancee." My mother stood up swiftly and approached me. She swung her palm. Her slap caused my head to tilt to the side. I tasted blood. I swallowed the blood as I stared at her. "You failure! Is that how to speak to your baby sister? You don't even have any ounce of love in your body. No wonder you tried to kill me at your birth!" My mother chided me with anger on her face. I laughed, "Yes. I don't have any ounce of love in me. You didn't raise me on love in the first place." She raised her hand up to deliver another slap but I stopped her. I wasn't going to let her. That first slap was because she was my mother. She had used up her privileges. I held her hand. "Don't ever try to slap me again or you won't like the consequences." I warned her and I dropped her hand like it was a scalding iron. Anger was fueling me now. I might regret some of my actions later but right now, I did whatever I want to do. I wanted to give them a tiny percentage of the hurt they had caused. My mother held her chest and looked at my father in shock. "This evil spawn is fighting back! We have wasted all our love and teachings. All our efforts all this years had gone down the drain." She said. My father stood up and my brother stood up as well. If an outsider came in right now, the outsider would think they were going to battle. "Sister, I am sorry that I could not control my feelings. I did not mean to hurt you. If you don't want me to be with Kyle, I would break up with him right now and raise my pup on my own." Orla said with tears in her eyes. I wanted to laugh. Orla did her timing well. Why did she not say all these words before Kyle rejected me ruthlessly? She didn't even say a word when my mother was giving me a free slap. She waited until I fought back to show how considerate she was. Kyle brought her hands in his immediately. "Don't say that! You can not be too kind. I will be by your side and we would take care of our pup together." Kyle consoled her before turning to me with anger in his eyes, "Olivia! Can't you take a hint? We are already done! We will never be able to get back together no matter what you do!" I tilted my head to the side. "What are you talking about? I see the hint clearly, I am not blind." I said before facing Orla, "Don't worry, he would be by your side in peace. I would not want a scum like him anyway. Just remember, if he can look outside once, he can do it again." Orla glared at me for a split second before more tears welled up in her eyes. I was done with all this. I did not want to remain in this house for another second. I turned around and left. I did not want to deal with this nerve-wracking pain tormenting me. I wanted to forget my sorrows. I left the estate belonging to our pack, the Howling Crescent pack. There was a club near the estate. I entered the club. Thankfully, there wasn't any need for an invitation. The bouncers at the door let me in after confirming that I was a werewolf. I went straight to the bar and sat down. "What would you like?" A male bartender asked as finished giving a customer a glass of something unknown. "Give me the best shot you have." I said and the bartender smiled. "Don't worry, that's my specialty." He said before he mixed my drink for me. A minute later, he pushed a glass of red wine to me. The wine changed color with the angke of the lights overhead. It looked mysterious and enticing. I downed the glass and I pushed the shot glass to the bartender. "Another one." I instructed. I could feel the contents of the shot I took begin to take effect. The drink was really strong. I only took one glass and I was getting affected. My eyes doubled the sights I was seeing. The bartender gave me another shot and I gulped it down. The fire in my body burned and for a moment, I could forget my rejection and the intense emotional rollercoaster I have been through today. My nose twitched and I turned to look at the entrance. My nose had picked up the most amazing scent in the world. I didn't know how to describe it specifically. It smelled like cooling rain hitting the soul after a blistering sun leveled everything. I did not know where I got the strength from, I headed to the entrance of the club. This club was still very busy even if night hadn't arrived yet. A man stood at the entrance. Two other men was with him. He was the only one that drew my attention. The marvelous scent I picked up was coming from him. He was using his eyes to search the club. His sharp eyes finally settled on me. Heat flowed through my body at his dark gaze. I walked to him like I was in a trance. I wanted more of his scent. His scent made all my pain flow away. I felt like I was enclosed in a warm space. I approached him and I leaned against him. My body ached to be near him. "I finally found you." He whispered under his breath. His words weren't my concern. I stuck my body closer to him. "Yummy." I said. "Leave." He told the men that was with him and they left. He wrapped his arms around my body to keep me from getting handsy. "You are playing with fire." His voice looked like he was suppressing something. "No. I am playing with you." I said before I raised my head and licked his jaw. The next thing I knew, I was lifted into the air.
