Location: family house
Time: 2:48pm
Everyone sat in the sitting room waiting for the lawyer. David and Nat sat at safe distance apart. Mr and Mrs omotola were also present. Everywhere was quiet as no one wanted to talk to each other. Belle had left yesterday upon Mrs omotola's decision. Her absence was felt strongly as she was always good at playing with people's heart. David thought about Bella, he missed her no doubt, but he wondered if he was doing the right thing by trusting her over his brother. The more he thought about it, the more he remembers seeing them together in Nat's room. He sincerely hope it was Nat's plan and she was out of it. He love her and can't imagine loosing her. For years he had kept his idea of no feelings no marriage but she came and changed everything. He couldn't even discard her like a fling even if he wanted to.
He honestly wasn't happy with the turn of events between him and Nat but it seemed like that was his only choice to get Bella.
Nat sat impatiently waiting for the lawyer. He was eager to get done with the signing and leave to his belovedth Bella. He had been so depressed over Nancy's departure to the unknown, he couldn't even feel anything for a woman cause his heart left with Nancy but Bella came and she brought his heart back, not sure how but she ignited the fire that had been soaked in water by Nancy. Was it love? Or lust? He still couldn't tell but one thing he knew was that bella was his. He needed a companion and he found a companion in Bella not minding his elder brother was also interested in her.
Mrs omotola looked at her two sons and her eyes almost became watery. She have never expected this, that her sons would be this divided and because of a woman. If for anything, she would have liked to get to the bottom of this but her sons were all grown up now, their mind were made up and her words could cause little or no effect. And Bella, she was really disappointed in her. She thought she was a responsible and perfect for David, But she guessed she thought wrong. People are really not who they make themselves to be. Sure, she helped a whole lot in reuniting David and Nat with their father but why would she turn two brothers against each other? That was what she couldn't understand.
Mr omotola sat a little close to his wife. All he could do was watch the drama unfolding before him, he was still like a new member of the family so his words didn't hold any weight, at least that's what he thought. He was worried about his sons but more about his wife. He could tell by looking at her that she was stressed with all that is going on. She was getting old and still recovering from the stairs accident so...she didn't need to be experiencing stress. The doctor said that. But now it seems almost impossible as their sons were at each other's head.
Everyone was anxious to see the lawyer.
***
"How did it go?"
"Perfect, you should have seen them fighting like animals" she giggled
"Fighting?"
"Yeah, I told you I was good at this"
"And D..David he..."
"He is so dumb, he still doesn't believe it. He trusts 'her' so much even though he saw the truth with his own eyes. I wasn't expecting that but plans remains unshaken"
"I don't feel good about this.. don't you feel bad too?."
"Well...you shouldn't, they deserve whatever is coming to them...they deserve to pay.....but of course the only person I would pardon is Nathaniel, but not like I like him or anything just that it seems he deserves better than that shitty house they call family"
"But why do we have to involve them, why not take revenge on him himself"
"That's what you don't get.... Him seeing all this conflict IS the revenge"
"I don't know about this...i...feel so guilty...and.."
"Did you get rid of it?"
"Of what?"
"You know what I mean" she said sternly.
"I..I..No...I couldn't do it"
She sighs rubbing her forehead, "I know this might be hard but whatever your decision is you should keep mum in mind. All this is for her, don't forget that"
"Great cause I'm keeping it"
*****************
"Hello babe" Nat voice rang through the phone.
"Hello, how did it go? You got the papers signed?" Belle asked him trying to reduce her level of desperation.
"No I didn't, David refused to sign them, he said he would only sign with our family lawyer"
Belle mentally facepalm herself, she thought everything will be over now but everything is going to be delayed now.
"And your mum?"
"She supported him too. So the family lawyer is on his way"
Belle sighs, "it's fine, sign with the lawyer so you can get out of there soon. But make sure you read before signing so you don't end up being tricked"
"Okay I will"
"Good"
"I will talk to you later, it seems the lawyer just parked on the driveway"
Nathaniel hanged up and Belle was left in her own thoughts.
Time for another plan.
*******
"Good evening Mrs omotola and.....Mr omotola" The lawyer greeted with a smile. He shook Mr omotola's hand and waved at Mrs omotola.
"Good evening sir, we haven't seen each other for so long now, how have you been?" She asked returning the smile.
"I have been great. It's nice to see you after a long time, I can see the family is back together" he said happily acknowledging Mr omotola.
"Well...we thank God. I still owe you a visit, I heard your daughter was delivered of a baby girl, with everything going on I haven't had time to visit"
"It's no problem, you are welcomed anytime. So.... David and Nat, how has business been? And you asked for my presence" he said turning to face the two brothers as he sits on the couch.
"We want to split the property, the companies, houses, cars, land, money... everything" Nat said going straight to the point. He just wanted to sign the papers and get this over with.
"Wow! Why so sudden? I have known this family for years now but this conversation has never been brought up, was that why David asked me to bring property transfer documents along?" he said his face full with surprise and concern.
"Can we please just sign this damn thing already? You can ask your silly questions later" Nat said impatiently.
"Nathaniel!!" Mrs omotola scolded him like a child. "That is not how you talk to an elderly man"
Nat only rolled his eyes.
"It's fine ma'am, I guess things are not yet settled, I will get on with it" he said and turns to David,"please get the original property papers"
David nodded and walked off to get the papers. He had chosen to be quiet and just watch. Nat was all charged waiting for him to say something, that's why he decided not to say anything. He almost felt scared of his brother, his once calm younger brother wasn't so calm anymore. He has changed, completely. He is now this bold guy who doesn't care about others feelings and want to get what he wants by all means even if people are being hurt in the process. This is not his brother anymore. And he wasn't going to let him get it, he wasn't going to back down easily, he was going to fight him for it.
May the best win Bella's heart.
He came back and handed the documents to the lawyer.
"Normally this paperwork should take a week, but I'm going to be faster and bring the official one by this time tomorrow, meanwhile sign on this first, I was able to make use of the copy of the property I had with me " he brings out some papers from his bag.
He gives David a pen, after some evaluation, David signs and hands it to Nat. Nat remembering Belle's words gave the document a through evaluation before signing.
Mr and Mrs omotola signed as well.
Nat smiled when everything was signed....
See you soon Bella.

Hi guys
I haven't updated for days now, I've been so busy. Since the pandemic started, I have not been in school and they finally decided to open schools next month but things are really compressed because we have to catch up with the school calendar. Imagine having 4 semesters a year( normally just 2), everything is just jumbled up, I have to read and all so writing is going to be slowed down a bit.
I will be updating once or twice a week, I'm sorry if you are not okay with the schedule but that's the least I can do. I apologise once again to you my lovely readers but please bear with me.
I also have been surprisingly getting new reads which is really really awesome. Thank you all for reading this less interesting book. Out of millions of mind-captivating books here, you still decided to check this one out for which I'm really grateful.
Thank you.
I accept comments wholeheartedly, I will like to know what you readers think about this book, do you want it to be better? Any suggestions or questions? Absolutely anything, even if it's not related to the book... You feel like sleeping in today? Then tell me, just write in the comment box down there and I will reply...lol.
#9 Nigeria facts
We have 3 major religion, the christain, Islam and traditional worship ( shrines, witches and all)
I may not be a witch or anything but I know witchcraft is real....at least in Nigeria it is. I might actually consider writing a story about witches one day.
In Nigeria, I don't think witches are like those cartoon streotypes that sits on flying brooms and has this magic spells they use, Although they are similar in some kind of way. From what I believe, people invoke bad spirits(demons) into something they use as an Idol. Normally whatever thing that connects to an Idol aren't usually good. There is always a sacrifice you pay to get what you want and most times those things are inhumane. Like an example.... You want get rich and you don't want to work for it, you want a shortcut. So you go to a traditional worshiper('babalawo' as commonly called here in Nigeria) and you tell him/her what you want. They are willing to do it but you have to lose something in return. You may be told to kill a loved one, bring a body part of a person or things more worse. And the saddest part is people are willing to do it as long as they get that money, what they don't know is that they have tied a covenant with that spirit and that money they get doesn't last, even they don't last too. People go to babalawo for help for other bad reasons, like jealousy, greed, pure wickedness, love portions e.t.c
Which makes me wonder why this witches can't do any thing good, why can't they use those demonic spirits to improve their lives and people around them? Why can't they use it to fight terrorist in the country and bad leaders too? But I guess when you worship a demon you can only get bad things.
When you are here, you hear a lot of stories about this things and sometimes you see them too. That's why we have to be careful in our dealings with people here because evil isn't written on a person's forehead. A lot of people have been initiated into demonic cults unknowingly because they simply took food from a friend or stranger, picked money on the ground, even buy something from an eatery. My mum always tells us to be good Christians because in those cases where you are ignorant of an enemy, Jesus comes in and fights for you and keeps you from any demonic vices. I will tell you one true life story my mum told us about some time ago relating to this in my next update. How a demonic man sells flour related snacks to kids in a school indirectly trying to initiate and steal their soul in the process.
If there is a country that should be good with this horror stuff is Nigeria, because they are a lot of unexplainable things going on around. But unfortunately we suck at it...lol. here you won't see a nun, a mentally disordered person, a game or a doll killing people as a horror movie, it's much more spiritual but our movie industry hasn't gotten the right kick yet. If for one, demonic related movies here are actually funny..which isn't supposed to be so. There is no Nigerian movie like that that has made me scared, they just can't hit the scared part of you.
All the same, everyone has to be careful, watchful and prayerful.
That will be all for now
Stay tuned for more.
I feel like I'm hitting a writer's block. I know how I want Duped to end but I'm not sure on how to get to the ending. It's frustrating.
So please, pardon me if this chapter is crappy cause I feel it is.
