Chapter 15

Alexa POV

" Yeah, we are alright now." I hear a voice talking.

" She is fine, just some bruises." I know the voice.

I tried to open my eyes, the light blinding as I blink my eyes. I groan and holding my head.

" Are you sure?" the voice said again.

I looked at to the voice direction. It was Jack. Who is he talking with?

" That's great, send me those file Sam" he said.

I think he was in the phone called. I tried to sit, but my head spinning when I tried to lift it. I groan.

" Thank you." he said, and he looking at me when he hear me groan.

" Bye Sam" he said ending his phone call. He put his phone on the table and walked toward me.

" How do you feel?" he asked me, helping me sit up in my place.

" My head..." I said as I feel pain in my head.

" you just hit your head. Here, take this." he said giving me a pill and a water. I took the pill and the water, and I drink them.

I looked around. I'm in bed, in a room. Where am I?

" Where am I? What happen?" I asked him, pinching my eyes as I still feel pain in my head and the light hurt my eyes.

" we are in Evansville. We had a car accident And you hit your head" he said.

I remember there were gun fired and speeding.

" this room, where are we?"

" a motel." he said.

" how long am I been passed out?" I asked him

" 3 hours." he explained,

" Can I use the bathroom? " I asked. "I need to clean up my self."

" Sure. I brought you some changing clothes." he said giving me a paper bag. He shop for me?

" thank you" I said as I receipt the paper bag.

I stand up slowly and unsteady.

" I'm alright" I said as he tried to reach me. And he let me walked to the bathroom.

" don't lock the door, incase you fall" he said in amused.

" you wish." I answer him as I walked in the bathroom. I closed the door behind me and I locked it.

I open the paper bag and check what he had bought me. It was a shirt and a trouser, a black bra and a panty? Seriously how is he know my size anyway?

I took some times with my shower. I need to relax after what happen lately.

" Alexa, are you okay?" He asked me from outside the door.

" Ya, I'm fine. " I said.

" I have food if you done with your shower." he told me.

" okay, I'll be out in a minutes." I answer him.

But in a minutes of me take more than a minute. Well, let say 15 minutes.

I came out of the bathroom and saw him paying attention to his laptop. The food was on the table in front of him. He haven't touch his food yet. He wait for me.

He closed his laptop when I came.

" Let's eat." he said. He didn't complaint waiting for me.

" what did you read?" I asked him as we started to eat.

" a case." he said. I nodded.

" you haven't tell me why you change your name." he said.

" Max think it's best for us to change our name. You know he was an outlaw." I told him. I hope he will accept my answer and stop asking. I didn't want to tell him about the real reason.

" What is your connection with max? You are not his real daughter right? Your parents died in car accident." he asked me.

" he... Max.... Max is a good man. He raise me and take care of me. He is like a father to me." I said. I smiled remembering max, how he tried his best to raise me and protect me.

" Ya, I know that. But how do you meet him? Did he kidnapped you or something? Or you willingly go with him? "he asked me again" you were 15 at that time, right? "

" he didn't kidnapped me. " I said. I remember what happen and my eyes started to brimming.

" he saved me" I said and I drop a tears in my eyes.

" It's okay" he said. I wipe my tears and smile.

Then he let me finish my food, without asking anymore.

I thought he was finish with his question, but he said something before I stand up to clean up our food trash.

" Alexa, there is a case I've been reading." he said. I listen to him.

" it happen 7 years ago in North Carolina." he said carefully, and my heart started to pounding. Is he talking about that case?

" there were a lot of teenager found dead" he said looking at me.

" And there is one young girl who had the same burn mark as yours. Her name is Debra Hudson." he told me still looking at me.

" Do you know anything about this?" he finally asked me.

" No" I said as I walked to the trash can and throwing in our thrash. I drop my tears again. I know this Debra Hudson. She was kept with me in that room. And I saw her when she died.

" Alexa, I can't help you if you don't tell me everything." he said. Is he going to help me? How?

" How did you get that burn mark?" he asked me.

" I don't want to talked about it." I said.

" You have to! I have to know what I'm dealing with." he said as he grab my arms and facing me to him.

" Do you know that FBI and the man who chasing us? Their are not Frank's man. There are someone else chasing you! And I need to know who and why!? " he said.

" Tell me who did that to you! " he demand.

" I don't know!" I said

I walked nervously.

" I don't know who is he and what is his name! " I said as I walked forth and back.

" Tell me what happen" he said as he sit me in the bed.

I sighed deeply.

" I was kidnapped... And... and he keep me for 3 days" I started to tell him. He listening to me.

" Debra was there... She was kept with me, ... they kidnapped her before me.... , and they... They killed her." I told him with my trembling voice.

" How?

" they... drug her" I said. He sighed.

" and what they did to you?" he asked me

" there is one man with scar... He..... he..." I was trying to explained to him that the scar man rape me, abuse me, beat me up but I can't say it. I close my face as I cried.

And Jack hold me in his arms and let me cried in his shoulder.

" It's alright, you are save now. " he said as he rub on my head.

I feel relieve after telling him about what happen 7 years ago, but I know he still have some question for me.

" Max save me... That's why I'm still alive" I said as I wipe my tears.

" how?"

" he didn't know about me, he was stealing something in that house that night when he found me. He could just leave me there, but he didn't. He save me and he kept me alive" I said.

" That's why he made new ID for you both." he said thinking. I nodded.

" that's mean Max know who is the man. "he said again.

" max never told me his name, but he said he was a powerful man, he is not an outlaw like max or frank. And he keep looking for me and Max after all this years, " I said" and that man killed max."

I was so sad and angry remember that night when he killed max, and there was nothing I can do to help him.

" I think that's why you had people tried to killed you. That men yesterday who attack us, was his men. "

" But they didn't know it was me, they don't know my real name."

" I think they know that you are Julie Monroe, from our report on your finger print. That's when everything started. "

" Can you recognize him if I showed you some pictures?" he asked me.

" Yes" I answer.

" okay, get some rest now, we'll be leaving later, but I have something to do now." he said as he standing and wear his suit.

" you are going out?"I asked him standing from the bed. Feeling a bit afraid to be left alone.

" Ya, just for awhile. Just don't let anyone else in" he said as he take his phone

" you are not going to cuff me?" I asked him.

He looked at me and move closer. I move backward and hit the wall behind me.

" Are you going to run away?" He asked seriously. Our distance is so close.

" No,"I answer him as our eyes lock.

" Why asking then? Do you like to get cuffed in bed?" he asked me closely.

" Ya.... I mean no" I corrected my answer right away.

Shit! What did I just say? Handcuffed in bed?

" I just want to know, that's all. " I said gulped.

Oh okay, now my cheek getting warm.

He looking at my face and laugh.

" Behave Julie, I'll be back" he said as he turned around and walked to the door, come out and locked the door.

I think the best way to survive is to followed Jack. So I decide to stop running from him. I don't know how am I going to survive all by my self, especially when they already know my real identity.

He came back about an hour, with a small briefcase.

" Okay, we have to keep moving Alexa, you are not save until we get to the headquarters" he said

"Better get your stuff, we'll be living in 15 minutes. " he said

" Okay" I said as I start to put my things in my backpack.

He get inside the bathroom and took a shower for a few minutes and come out with a pair of jeans and shirt. Oh okay, now he looked cute.

" Are you ready?" he asked me

" Ya" I said.

We check out the motel and walked carefully in the parking lot. And then Jack put me inside new car, black SUV.

" Where is your car agent Hampton?" I asked him

" I told you we have car accident, so it's our's now" he said. Our's?

He open the GPS map and put in the destination, and started it.

" Just call me Jack" he said took a glance at me

" Okay, Jack" I said.

" Here we go" he said. " 7 hours drive"

" 7 hours? Can we took the plane?" I asked him.

" No, it's too risky. We cant trust anyone right now." he said as he started driving leaving the motel parking lot.

" we'll be lucky if we can get there before midnight." he said.

He turned on the radio and listen to the music.

" Who is Harry?" he asked me at a sudden.

Why he asked? How did he found about him?

" Frank told his name when we are in his office. Who is he?"

" Harry Perkins is Max's friend." I said.

" Are you close to him?"

" Ya" I said

" Where is he now?" he asked again

" I don't know. Never see him again after you arrest me." I said, pressing the word ' you arrest me'

" What is that supposed to mean? It's not my fault if you get arrested and not seeing your boy friend." he said. What?

" My boyfriend? " I laugh

" Harry is not... My boyfriend. "I said still laughing." he is at the same age as Max. He take care of me after max died. "

" You don't like older man? " he asked me

" older man? If you mean mature man.... Ya, why not? But Harry is 20 years older than me. And he is Max's friend. For God shake."

" why asking anyway? I believe my s****l orientation is not your concern agent Hampton. " I asked mocking him.

" It's not. I'm asking him because it's... related with your case. " he explained.

" How old are you anyway? " I asked him curious.

" It's not your concern isnt it? " he said more like a statement. So I decide to teasing him.

" Are you an old man or a mature man agent Hampton ? " I asked him playfully.

" I'm not that old." he said," and dont do it again"

" Do what? I don't do anything." I said acting innocent.

" You know what I mean." he said. Why is he so tense?

And then his phone was ringing. I can see the caller ID because he put his phone in between us. It was 'Babe' .... His wife ?

He looked at it and took awhile before he answer it.

" Ya? "

" I'm still working"

" No, Candice. We--"

"You say that - - " he took his phone away from his ear, I can hear a women voice yelling.

" I have to go. Bye." then he hanged up his phone call. And put his phone in the dashboard.

" Your wife?" I asked him.

" No." he said

And Candice call again. He took a glance but not picking it up. And Candice keep calling. And the phone ringing sound started annoying me.

" Are you going to take that?" I asked him.

" No." he said. Can he just picked it up and told her not to call?

I groan, and I took his phone. Jack eyes widen looking at me

" what are you doing?" He asked me.

I slide his phone monitor to accept.

" Hello" I said.

" Who is this? Why you picking up his phone?" she asked me. Jack trying to reach his phone on my hand. I move the phone in my other ear far from him.

" I'm his... New partner and Jack is a little bit busy right now" I told her.

" I want to talked to Jack."

" He can't. He said you can called him again tomorrow. Bye Candice." I said ending her phone.

I gave him his phone back.

" That was easy." I said.

" Don't ever picked up my phone again." he said in high tone.

" Alright. I'm sorry, I just don't like if your phone keep ringing like that. It's annoyed me. "I told him.

He stop at a sudden, and he handcuff me to the car seat.

" what? " I protest.

" You asked for it. " he said grinning.

" I'm saving you from your annoying girlfriend, and this is what I got? "I said disbelieve.

" enjoy" he said

" I will" I said as I pulled out my headset and ipod, and turned it on.

We drive for 3 hours until we stop.

" Turn it off" he said as he took off my headset.

I turned it off and looked around. We were in rest area, parked in front of a restaurant.

He told me to get out and uncuffed me. He didn't put handcuff on me, but he hold my hand and looked around before we walked into the restaurant.

" I need to go to the bathroom" I said to him.

" Sure." he said, and took me to the bathroom. He wait for me outside the bathroom.

And then we took our seat. The restaurant was crowded, because it was a diner time. We order our food and took some time before the waiter finally deliver our food and we eat.

" I think we should stayed the night here." he said.

" I can drive if you tired." I said

" it's fine. I think we better get rest. Beside if we keep driving, we'll be arrive at midnight. Better we go tomorrow morning, took 3-4 hours drive." he said.

" okay, up to you. " I said.

Then he paid for our food and we drive around Lexington city looking for a motel for us.

" looked.... Is that yours? " I said when we passed a hotel with his name on it.

" nope" he said and smiling. But we stop anyway, asking if there any available hotel room for us. And unluckily it was full. And we search again.

We finally get our room on a motel, we can't get a twin bed, but any bed would be fine as long as we can get rest.

" I'm going to get shower." I said.

" Sure, go a head." he said.

I took a shower and then he took a shower after me. It looked like he already trust me not to run as he didn't handcuffed me. He sleep in the couch while I took the bed.

" Good night Alexa" he said from his couch.

" Good night Agent Hampton" I said still call him that. And I turn off the dim light.
