Chapter 1
The light-skinned woman strutted out of the airport with a bewitching smile on her heart face. Her ginger hair bounced on her shoulders as she pulled her luggage along with her.
Wherever she treaded, heads turned to stare. She didn't mind, she liked the attention they were giving her.
Annalisa sighed as she stopped midway and sighed. This was her first comeback after ten years and it gave her this nostalgic feeling. Taking off her sunglasses, her lashes fluttered revealing her bottle-green eyes.
One would gasp seeing the type of eye color she had. It was one of the rarest things people of Knockway would see. They heard tales of the most beautiful woman in their country rumored to have this kind of beauty but they never thought a commoner would have it.
"Miss Annalisa Patro?" A masculine voice inquired. The woman could only whip her head to see who addressed her. She had never been here for a long time and she doubted if any of them knew her.
"Yes...?" She raised a brow. That was a gesture to ask how he knew she was the one.
"Sorry, ma'am. I'm a huge fan of yours. I–"
"Just get straight to the point." She rolled her eyes. There was one thing Anna hated, and it was people who loved to brown-nose her.
She termed those people as potential liars who wanted to get something from her in return. If she wanted a peaceful stay in Knockway, she was going to have to avoid people like this.
"Please this way, ma'am." The man bowed his head after realizing that she had used her authoritative voice on him. He had no option but to adhere to her words.
Inwardly, he cussed at himself for being a blabbermouth in her presence. He had been crushing on her for a long time and would try to shoot his shot, but his bullet refused to hit the right place.
Instead, it ricocheted back to him.
Annalisa handed him her luggage without saying a word and walked ahead of him immediately. Her brows creased as she suddenly felt a strange pain clawing at her chest.
This led her to stop on her steps as she wondered what this sudden pain meant. If it needed her pills, she was going to rush out of this place and get some private time for herself.
Annalisa thought it would do no good to her image if she was to pass out in the airport with people who stared at her like she was a goddess. She didn't want to be on the cover page of a newspaper as that would ruin her company's image.
While she thought of this and her mission in Knockway amidst her sudden heart pain, she bumped into a huge figure and lost her balance immediately.
Her heels slipped on the marble floor of the airport and her body swayed in the same direction. Falling to her face, a muffled scream was heard.
The person whom she bumped into scrunched his nose in displeasure as he watched the woman who walked into him.
Anna raised her head from the marble floor to reveal her now bleeding nose. That sight alone annoyed the man to the brim. What got him angrier was that this woman was glaring at him despite her bleeding nose.
Her bottle-green eyes were shooting a cold flame at him as she slowly rose from the floor like a panther.
But there was another thing that took his attention. The scent she wore... that familiar scent that he thought he was never going to sense again.
But his thought was interrupted by a loud slap from her. The sound of the slap he received was loud that it got the attention of the people in the port.
They had their eyes bulging wide at the realization of the person the woman hit on the face.
"Oh, my Selene..." Some people whispered under their breath as they watched the scene unfold.
He could only glare at her as soon as he returned his gaze to her bleeding face.
"How dare you!" She didn't scream or throw a tantrum as he predicted. Her approach was calm but one would know that she was trying her best to control her rage.
This woman was arrogant, the Alpha could only conclude. The funniest thing was that despite his pheromones that filled the port, this woman was the only one unaffected.
"How dare you!" He countered her words with a calm but cold voice. The people behind him could only send themselves side glances while taking some steps back.
They could only hope their Alpha doesn't rip her head off in the airport. There were eyes everywhere, and they didn't want to tarnish his image. But their Alpha did not seem to care about it as he had his attention on the woman who had dared to hit him.
Annalisa's eyes widened immediately as she heard him yell at her. For some reason, she had the urge to pretend as though the fall never happened. She did not know why she had the urge to walk away from this scene and wish never to cross paths with him again.
There was something dangerous about this man, and she could sense it through the air around him. She had no idea that she just slapped the most notorious Alpha of Knockway.
People behind were inwardly praying for her safety. Now that their Alpha had his eyes on the woman – not in a good way – she was in pure trouble. They couldn't help but hope she watched her movements from now on.
But she wasn't going to do as they hoped. Annalisa stunned them the more by taking a step closer to the huge man who narrowed his blue eyes on her. He arched a brow at her wondering where this was going.
"Apologize." They held their breath after hearing her words. Some even choked on their breath as they heard that word.
There was no way their Alpha would apologize to a small woman who never had her eyes on the floor!
He could only snicker when he heard her words. Just who the hell was this woman who told him what to do?
He wasn't the one at fault here. She was the one who never looked her way properly.
Looking him in the eye and telling him that was more like a challenge to him. The corner of his lips raised in disbelief as he watched her stubborn eyes never leave his.
Such effrontery…
