~Eleanor~ Four nights had elapsed, yet I still couldn't confront the feeling within me and the urge my wolf developed. It was the fifth night since my encounter with a wolf aura in anguish and distress, and still I was scared of reaching out to them. And the worst that I hated was that Alpha King hadn't sent for me in these five days. I tried pretending that I had no business with him, but I couldn't hold on for long and had no choice but to burst out to the mistress. “I have no answer to the question. He must be so busy right now to have anyone beside him, or maybe he's gone into his state of insanity and anguish again.” the mistress had responded to me. Sitting in the cell, eyes opened wide with no atom of sleep crawling my way, I found myself standing again. If he was in anguish, then does it mean he's one of the aura I felt? Then the other was who? Not even his beta had come my way for five days too….and my wolf had been ringing in my ear about the full moon and how she'd like to race in the woods. Was it the coming full moon affecting them? But I never heard that the full moon affects anyone, rather it has this excitement given to people. This time, the door of the cell wasn't locked. The guards had learnt to let me lock it from the inside so I wouldn't be disturbing them whether in the night or day. I loved that we were becoming companions, that in my free time or before I go to bed, we chat and laugh together. Two amongst them had even assured me he would use his men outside the palace to help search for my family. They weren't treating me as a slave. Not only because the alpha king and his beta ordered so, but because few of them knew my family and what I've been going through. Recently, the cell was like a normal room to me. I felt so comfortable in it that I even preferred eating my meals there. I unlocked the door and walked out, strolling down the corridor with my face contorted. “You don't sleep, do you?” I heard a voice behind me. “Others are warming up for the upcoming full moon yet you keep pestering around at night. Where to?” I turned and bowed to him. He was one of the guards I had gotten acquainted with. “The thing is, I am searching for that aura I told you guys about. It keeps disturbing me so bad.” “Why don't we feel this aura?” “I can't really tell.” I pouted and glanced at him. “Anyways, I'm gathering the courage to find the one who has it. Maybe, I'll have a rest of mind after that.” He scoffed and shrugged his shoulders. “If you insist. Just be careful so it doesn't be a vampire seeking blood to suck.” I couldn't help but laugh as I continued. I knew he was being sarcastic as there were no vampires in our pack. We and those species are sworn enemies no matter how nature makes it look. Outside the prison yard, I began tracing the aura. First, the one in distress. I followed my instinct, my wolf howling and growling while inhaling every bit of the male's scent….his aura trying to overwhelm us. I fastened my steps, heading towards a fortress. At a time, I stopped, my heart palpitating. I took a deep swallow, my fingers curled into a fist. This was one big risk I was taking. I had gone far from the prison that one would barely find me, but I was yet to find the person. This time, I let my wolf take over my sense of direction. My steps fastened beyond my control. I wasn't scared of meeting a vampire, rather meeting a feral wolf….that one could shred me apart without knowing I'm its fellow. After a long walk again, I came to a stop…the aura became so strong my wolf yelped continuously. My lips quivered as I took my right, reaching towards the building there. It was like an abandoned building even though still attractive, and with the place it was positioned, it would seem haunted. I reached closer, and the aura kept being stronger. Hot saliva formed in my mouth. I was pushed to return, scared that it was something beyond my grasp….but my wolf pushed forward and I found myself before a furnished wooden door. I pushed it and it opened forcefully. For an abandoned building, it didn't look dusty inside. The light was on, and the room, although not furnished, looked so simple and neat. The sudden growl of a mighty wolf made me shudder, and before I could even react, it poured its pheromone, pulling me to my knees. My eyes widened as I followed the scent of the wolf, and there sat the alpha king's beta. Air left my lungs. Beside him who sat on the floor were bottles of wine, and in his hand was a pipe of a hookah which he inhaled, eyes pinned on me. “Beta?!” His eyes were bloody, body was covered in furs. I could see his claws from where I was, but he didn't reveal his fangs. Then his wolf growled at mine again, but unexpectedly, my wolf growled back at him. My eyes bulged. How could my wolf stand an alpha wolf? Wasn't that so mysterious? I exhaled, tears forming in my eyes already. But what could be wrong with him? Staring at the man before me, he looked like he'd gone crazy already…. “What are you doing here?” his voice, scary and chilly. Goosebumps descended on my body. What was I doing here? I didn't know either…. I could claim I came to save him, but…. “Aren't you scared I could haul off your head from your neck? Do you like taking risky steps without thinking twice?” I didn't say a thing. What do I know? He was in distress, what could have made him this way all night and unavailable for days now? Has he been like this? My lips opened, and only silly questions left through them, “Beta, what is wrong with you? Where's the alpha king?” He inhaled smoke from the pipe again and exhaled it like it had some nutrients in it. “Even the alpha king cannot save you from here.” It sank in me. What? Was he going to kill me? My wolf agitated, pulling me to my feet. I rushed towards the door, to drag it open. My whole body trembled. I had acted stupidly again. As I grabbed the doorknob, I felt two strong fingers dig into my neck bone and I was yanked back like a sack of grain. A loud groan escaped my lips. My wolf roared as if wanting to take over me. He flung me around and the next was a resounding slap across my face. I staggered backwards but didn't fall, then I got filled with my wolf energy as I lunged towards him and released a punch to his face. The pipe he was holding slipped from his palm. He held his cheek while I went for his chest, my claws revealed for the first time. I was set to leave a deep scratch on his bare chest when he held my arms and dragged me closer…with no distance between us. His eyes met mine, bloody and widened. My chest rose and fell. I was yet to understand how my wolf became so strong to fight him. “So it's you?!” his voice was almost a whisper. My gaze narrowed. What was he talking about? My breath caught in my throat. I stared right into his eyes, expecting him to hurt me, but he only looked back at me as if searching for something. I tried to get off his grip, but it was so tight that even my wolf winced aggressively. He sniffed, leaning his head closer to my neck, but a sudden sound made me flinch. He shoved me backwards as the door got kicked and a mighty alpha wolf dashed in. Its eyes were predatory. It raised its maw and growled in fury…and in the next minute, it lunged at the beta while I fell back and slammed my butt to the floor.
