~Eleanor~ “I've never seen a stubborn female like you. What would happen if I get it done in minutes?" His voice was just as brutal as his behaviour. He was busy unbuckling his trousers, and the surprising thing was how the men in the room were all less concerned about the scene playing out. It was as if they were ghosts, like they were in another world. If I should scream, would someone hear me out? I still gripped my shoe; all my hope of self-defense relied on it. As he stepped out his feet towards me, charged, his trousers unbuckled, the door made a sound. My heart flipped into my throat. I quickly turned to the door, only to see him standing and gazing at us… eyes narrowed, his sharp jaw clenched—Alpha Devereux. I brought down my raised hand, and the shoe slipped from my palm. The alpha who had taken me burst into laughter, walking towards Alpha Deve like they were paddies. “Nice meeting you, brother…..” he stretched out his hand. My eyes squinted. Brother? They were brothers…or was I beginning to hear things? I sighed in relief, gaze pinned on them, but what I didn't expect was Alpha Deve’s reaction. Instead of accepting his brother's handshake, he landed a heavy hit across his face, and the young man staggered backwards. He walked further, his hand flew towards the man, and he dragged him closer. The fury that raged in him, the fire in his eyes, was one I hadn't seen, no matter how dangerous I thought he was. A heavy hit flew across the man's face again, this time, his lips broke, and blood stained them. “Brother, is that how you pay me for taking care of your woman? Is he your mate? Or your slut?” I couldn't even believe it….that dickhead was grinning, a dirty smirk across his face, staring back at the alpha king. He must be used to his brother's brutality. But to think of it, why would he want to harm me when he knew I belonged to his brother? Were they rivals? “You know, I mistakenly stained her clothes and I had to have them changed.” Another heavy blow. This time, the men who hadn't spoken since all got to their feet. They casually made their way out of the room without saying a single word. I wouldn't doubt if they knew Deve was their alpha king and is unchallengeable. But what was happening between him and his brother was something I didn't anticipate. He wasn't even speaking to him…just hitting him like he was a …. “Can you just stop? Will hitting me do anything good to you? I am your brother for crying out loud…. shouldn't you…. Another hit, this time, it took his brother to the floor. Then he stepped back and brushed his thumb on his lips. I couldn't get my eyes off him; fear gripped me. If he could do this to his brother, then what would he do to a non-family member? Was he this savage? Goddess, I got tangled with a devil I never imagined existed. His steps towards his brother were cold and deliberate. He yanked him up by his shirt, then his lips parted into a scornful smile. “Didn't I warn you? I did tell you not to cross the line, didn't I?" The young man hauled his body up. “What's the line here? To stay away from this thing you call your woman? Who said she's fit to be by your side, or do you think you would get it by claiming her?” Alpha Deve smacked him hard across his face, and he stumbled backwards. “That's all you got. You always do this, don't you? Son of a bastard!!!” Chill ran down my spine. Why was he cursing his brother that way? “You could just kill me like you killed our father. Do it, Devereux!! I dare you!!! What's been holding you back? You caused my mother's death, our father's death, and then your mother, too. Since you're proud of it, why not get rid of me, too? Why hold back? You could just take my life, then claim her and achieve it all,” the brother screamed, his voice filled with pain and disdain. I could sense the hatred towards his brother. It was deeper than one could guess. What could have happened? Did Alpha Deve really do all that? Was he a murderer of his own family? There was no way he would do that and still live. The moon goddess is bound to deny him that position if he does. “I promised you that unless you're going to kill me, I'll ruin everything for you. So long as I live, I'll make sure you lose everything you think you've achieved. I'll tarnish your image before everyone you try to claim and make sure you lose them. That throne you took forcefully from our father will be so hot for you…” He pointed fingers at the alpha king. Then he turned to me, and a sinister smile spread across his face. “You could be the next. It's his hobby,” he said and reached out to the door, then vanished. I took a deep gulp. My palms were already sweating. Was this all true? Will he kill me, too? Seeing how hard he was on his brother, how those smiles he showed me vanished suddenly….a cold pit formed in my belly. The moment he turned to face me, my heart leaped to my throat. I opened my lips to speak, to defend myself, but no word came out. He pulled out a knife from the side of his trousers and dragged it out of its sheath. My muscles tensed, my limbs giving up on me. I wished the ground would open and swallow me, given how destructive each of his steps was. My wolf snapped and sneered at me, and I found myself speaking suddenly, “I swear. I didn't mean to follow him. He stained my dress and dragged me here forcefully.” But he didn't care. His body hovered over mine. His left palm leaned on the wall, and the other gripped the knife tightly and showed it before my face. I lowered my gaze. My teeth were quivering. “Why aren't you running away, slut?” his voice came raspy, but cold. My eyelashes fluttered, wet. “Running? Can I run?” He nodded firmly, “You could. Just run and make it more fun. I'd love to chase you.” This jerk! I thought he was speaking out of comfort. “Mind running? Let's do it….” I shook my head, lips agape. “Don't mind the knife. I'll clear the way for you with it.” What a devil! “One….two... It's an order!!” he growled at my face, brows furrowed. An order? Was he joking or what? I glanced at the door. Where was I going to run to? Where do I even know? But in all, what was he up to? How could he dare me to run away, knowing I couldn't? I was his prey…and I accepted, so why do I want this? “Just run away. If I can't catch you, then you're free. Otherwise, I could rip you into shreds with this knife like Collins had said.” Collins? His half-brother? I shoved my hair to the side. He must be tempting me based on what his brother said. If he wanted to let me go, he would have done it… not now. My wolf yelped constantly, and I knew everything wasn't okay with him. His eyes were bloody, like he was seeking prey to devour, but there was this aura around him… one that seemed like depression from trauma. He still stared at me, expecting me to kick off, but I dragged my feet closer to him, pulled him closer by his shirt, and pressed my lips steadily against his. My body hair stood instantly. What did I just do? Was he going to calm down or do the worst?
