“I need to see the priestess. Step on it!” I ordered my beta and quickly hopped into the car. This was something I didn't believe could happen to me. Maybe my desperation, but the guts for them to dupe their alpha king…
There was no way I was getting two mates…I mean, two f*****g women.
I've never fancied having a woman around me except for s****l satisfaction. They were like a tool and toy to me—a threat to my life. Even seeking my mate was for a purpose which I would cast her aside when she became useless. How could I have two headaches…and even the one to start it in the pack I rule?
Right from when I was the alpha prince of Darkpelt Pack, a man or woman mating to more than one of the opposite gender is said to be unacceptable, because it would make it difficult for others to meet their mates.
And it was happening to me?
My fingers curled into fists. The moon goddess must be playing a joke on me. I've never rated her as my creator….never since my childhood days, and yet she kept showing me reasons never to have a change of mind.
I felt the rage burning in me. My cheeks heated up in fury.
“Alpha, we are here…” Andrea parked the car.
The guards already flew out and had the door open, then I alighted.
Standing before the priestess's apartment, a cynical smile tugged at the corner of my lips.
Before I could even make a move towards the building, she rushed out and bowed respectfully, her palms squeezing her dress at her sides.
“Long live, Alpha King!” she then looked up to meet my fierce gaze, her lips trembled. “What could bring His Majesty to my domain?”
I snorted and trailed towards her, “Has anything good ever come from the Moon goddess?” my voice husky and I dipped my palms into the side pockets of my long black jacket.
She lowered her gaze once again. I had always asked her that, and she had never given me a response. But this time, I was shocked to hear her speak, “Yes, Alpha. For the goddess knows what is good for her people.”
I couldn't help but scoff, “Is that so? Then let's see….” I walked past her into her building. Her servants led me to the sofa where I sat, and then they served a ceramic cup before me and poured me a hot brewed tea.
The priestess took a seat opposite me, and her white gown clung to her body.
“Since your goddess knows what's good for her people, why would she mate me with two sisters at once? Can you invite her here so I can scold her face-to-face? Don't you think she's doing too much?” The teacup was already in my palm.
She shook her head, “I only call on the goddess when there are things I can't solve.”
I sipped from the tea, fresh with a touch of cocoa flavor, and then dropped the cup back to its lead. “Huh? You think you can tell me why I'm mated to two sisters?”
“Yes, Alpha. Please exercise patience…”
With that, she stood and walked past the center table. I watched her retreating figure until it vanished from the sitting room.
When I emptied the cup, the servant returned with a plate of fruit salad. I glanced at her and picked up the fork.
Seconds turned to minutes and the priestess arrived. She took her position again, her face brightened with a smile.
“What's funny about praying to the goddess?” I bit the sliced apple on the fork before dropping it onto the plate.
She ran her tongue across her lips. “Alpha, you're not mated to two sisters.”
Upon hearing that, I leaned my arms on my thighs, my head lowered a bit. “What the heck do you mean? I felt that bond for both of them…”
“You are only mated to one, and the other's bond is fake….it was faked with a charm.”
A lump formed in my throat. My chest clenched in rage.
I gazed at her, my eyes darkened. “Who amongst them had the fake bond? One is Estelle, the other is Eleanor.”
“Estelle has the fake bond, while Eleanor is your true and fated mate.”
“Why?” I jolted to my feet, eyes narrowed. “Did you just say some minutes ago that your moon goddess knows what's best for her people? Then why give me a wolfless thing as a mate? How can an alpha king have a wolfless female as his mate?” My voice rose at each word, a knot twisted in my belly.
I stepped out from the sofa, my gaze still on the woman who had jerked to her feet, terrified.
“I would have forgiven them if it were the beta daughter who happened to be my mate. But that wolfless…..
I gritted my teeth. All hope drained from me.
She was fidgeting. It would have been better if she had shut up like the other days. But trying to defend her goddess who had never favored me from childhood….a goddess who had made me live a miserable life under the shadow of royalty….
My eyes landed on the fruit salad and a sudden weird feeling washed through me. I've been a foodie, but having an interest in food when enraged has never been my thing.
The way my wolf woofed, whining, made me feel so weird.
How could I be talking about something serious and this thing in me is craving his mate? Does he know what it means to have someone wolfless as a mate?
Regardless, I c****d my head to the side. While the fury in me tried to escalate, it felt as if an icy snow was tampering with it….more like two instincts in a battle.
“Package the fruit salad…” I ordered without giving any of them a glance.
In seconds, Andrea was holding the package with him.
“Get me more in the palace next time,” I added and turned my back instantly.
I heard her voice, loud and quivering, “Yes, Alpha King!”
I wiped my lips, taking long steps towards the car, and as soon as I got in, I let out a heavy sigh.
What came over me there?
I was supposed to turn that household upside down. They were all expecting me to roar at them, releasing my aura and pinning them all to the ground right? I too wanted to do that, with how my chest burned in anger.
But my wolf….
My craving for food….
No, my wolf. That thing in me is supposed to be gotten rid of. It's beginning to misbehave recently, especially since I went to take that wolfless bride they cheated me with.
“f**k!” I didn't even know when the word escaped my lip, my palm slammed to the car seat, my breathing came in ragged gasps.
Andrea spared me a look through the car's rearview, then started the engine.
“Turn it off. I have to think.”
Immediately, he did.
“If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I need that mate….I don't want to go feral, but I can't have a wolfless female like her breed my child….I can't have her stand as my Luna until I get it.”
My breath caught in my throat and I exhaled heavily. Just now, it was beginning to make me go crazy, something I was supposed to feel in there.
“You need her, so you don't have to discard her.” Andrea turned his head slowly to the back. “I got a report now that her family is yet to be found, so let's keep searching for them. When you have her sister, you can conduct an insemination with her egg and have her sister breed the child. That way, the child will come from your mate, but won't take the wolfless trait of his or her mother.”
My eyes squinted. The best decision I made was having Andrea as my right-hand man. His suggestions could be facts so many times.
A storm of ease descended on me. My clenched fist released.
“That makes a lot of sense. When I get what I want, I can discard them. By then, I will get everything and won't need my mate any longer." I added and scoffed. “Hand over the salad.”
He stretched his hand towards me and I took it.
“Kick off!”
We rode out of the priestess's compound.
The only issue I have was finding her sister, and I will stop at nothing until I find them.
While I use the two sisters, I will make sure their parents pay for deceiving me.
I gobbled on the salad and dropped the empty plate at the side, grabbed my water and downed it.
“Still, prepare her to club with me tonight. That's one of her roles." I laid out my order and Andrea responded respectfully.
