~Eleanor~ “How come? My sister is also your mate….” I broke out. There was no need trying to hide how perplexed I was at that moment. I could recall my parents saying that he agreed to the deal because Estelle was his mate. Then how did I end up as his mate as well? This has never happened, and I think it's an abomination for a male or female having more than one mate in our pack. He took back his seat, throwing heavy glares at me as if I were the cause of everything that was happening. If I should reveal that I was forced to do this, he would send me back, right? Then I would be a living dead. My parents that I know so well could even burn me alive. “Now, between you and your sister, who is the fake and fated mate?” his tone came in a low growl, gaze pinned on my rough face. “You better answer me, or I'm ripping you apart.” My lips parted but closed again. What could I say? What do I know? “Your family didn't just give me the wrong bride, but also faked a matebond? I won't be the one to start this rubbish in this pack.” he thundered, his voice like a thorn in my flesh. I was fidgeting, and he could see it. But, he would think I was deceiving him as well. “Since you don't want to say a thing, I'll start by venting my anger on you first.” Just then, he stood, reached the door, glared at me one more time before dashing out. I winked. Hot tears streamed down my cheeks. What had these people gotten me into? What's this all about? How on earth did I happen to be his mate? My wolf suddenly woke up after five years of waiting for it…yet instead of me being happy, I regretted why it happened. Every part of my body burned. I didn't know how and where to start thinking. Was I the fake mate or Estelle? Did they use a charm to disguise me as his mate so he wouldn't know that I'm not Estelle? Oh goddess! You're so cruel. If not, why would you give me such a rotten fate? Why would you make my life hell like this? I wished the ground would swallow me whole out of this earth. Everything was so tiring, getting worse day by day. I couldn't sit any longer but began pacing about the room. The least I managed to remove was the veil from my hair, but the gown was still on me…in fact, I didn't notice how heavy it was any longer. Now that he left, what next? Was he going to my parents? They said he wouldn't bring me back as per the tradition, then was he going to take Estelle? I was scared of everything. I wanted to take my last breath. Just when I lost hope that anyone would come in, the door creaked, and a stoutly built man, dressed like the men in the car with me previously, peeked into the room. He stepped back, and two ladies dashed in before he shut back the door. “Order from the alpha king. You have to be stripped and dressed in slave wear. From today, you will be a palace slave and his servant.” one of the ladies stated with command lingering in her voice. My teeth gnashed. Bile rose to my throat, but I suppressed it. I didn't speak. I didn't fight. I just stood, and they undressed me completely, then had the slave wear on me. It wasn't something new, not when I just left my father’s house as a slave. When they were done, they didn't say anything…they just reached out to the door and left. Just then, two guards twitched into the room. Before I knew it, they hurled me out, dragging me down the stairs like I was nothing. When we came downstairs, they handed me over to two other guards who took me from there to the prison I didn't know existed. An underground prison, cold and scary. People were locked in their bar cells—a lot of them, both young and old. There, no one would think of leaving. There was no means of escape either. “To the VIP cell for now until the king gives his next order.” One of the men that brought me handed me over to the prison guards. The way they exchanged me made me understand why the king called me his commodity. I was actually nothing to him. This made me think that even if it was Estelle, would she also mean nothing to him as well? I was shoved into a neat but chilly cell—not a bar cell. It had walls, and the door was made of blackstone. As I sat on the floor, I released a heavy breath. “So this is it. This is where I ended up in the name of Luna." I hissed and shook my head. “Minutes ago, I was respected as the alpha king's Luna, and now, I am a palace slave. What sort of fate is this? Can't I be loved for once? What about leaving me in that room until he meets my family….” ‘They will deny us. They will still make us take the blame.’ Something spoke in me—my wolf. And for a few seconds, I found myself shedding tears of joy. I never believed that I would ever interact with my wolf in this life. I already saw myself as a human. “What name would I give you?” I winked, expecting her to respond. She whined, ‘just call me wolfie…I don't want to have a human name.’ I nodded, grinning and wiping my face. “Wolfie, do you think we are the alpha king's fated mate?” ‘Mmm. We are. I don't understand why he's confused when it's vivid.’ I sniffed and relaxed my back on the wall. If so, then how come Estelle was his mate as well? Maybe…just maybe, their bond was faked—it could be caused by a charm, and that would cause another issue. But, I'm certain they would still try to put the blame on me. It actually slipped my mind that I was caged and that my life was rotting more and more until the door made a heavy sound. I jerked up, knowing that it was about to open. My eyes affixed on it. My heart already in my throat. It opened wide, and his fierce gaze locked with mine. He stood there, palms dipped in his pockets, face twisted, glaring at me like I was cursed in his life….then he took two steps inside and tilted his head to the side. “What do you have to say now that your family escaped from the pack? Any idea what it would cost you?” I didn't even know where I got the strength to stand. That statement—or maybe a question—sent a prickle all over my body. “Your father took my money to support his business, but he ended up selling off the business and escaping the pack with the money. Like, what were you all thinking?” His voice wasn't loud, but I could perceive danger from it. “Do you know the hell this would cost if they're not found?” I dropped to my knees. What else could I do? “Female, I will start from you until I find them.” he snapped, lowering his upper body, and then he turned and stormed out of the cell like a wave. A heavy pain hit the back of my head. My eyes spun. What the hell is this? Why did they do this to me?
