I realized that I wasn't alone few minute later as I heard the sound of a vehicle approaching. I screamed as loud as I could for help. The vehicle stopped and footsteps followed...Leo was standing above me, his eyes locked on mine.
"Sophia, what's going on?" he demanded, his voice low and urgent as he rushed to help me sit up.
I took a deep breath, trying to process everything that had just happened.
"It's Brian," I said, my voice shaking. "He was working with Victor, but then he tried to protect me."
Leo's eyes narrowed. "Where is he now?"
I hesitated, unsure of how to answer. "I don't know," I admitted. "He told me to run, and then...and then I heard him cry out in pain."
Leo's face went white, and he turned and walked to the vehicle, leaving me alone and frightened.
