CHAPTER 23 I WOKE UP, DRESSED, and put on the coffee. I made myself some toast and was pouring myself a cup of coffee when Cindy came in wearing sweat pants and a tee shirt. God, she looked beautiful. “Coffee?” I asked. “Please,” was her response. I poured her a cup and brought them both over to the table. I shared a piece of toast with her and neither of us had much to say. It was the first time we had sat with each other with nowhere we had to go. It felt weird. Cindy got up and said, “I am going to shower and get dressed,” and left the room.
