Sleeping Stars (Alikai and Solaris fluff)
"Kai!! have you seen my star charts?" Solar yelled as he dug through a stone box that he thought his maps were in. The fire Demon had been fast asleep hanging from the ceiling only to suddenly wake with inspiration for a new star constellation, the sudden change from sleep to wakefulness had caused the Astral Demon to let go of his perch and slam horns first onto the floor.
The Tempest Demon gave no response. This caused his slightly older friend to stop looking for his Star Charts and for the first time in awhile, look up and actively search the empty cave for the black scaled Demon. "Kai?" The fire Demon got to his feet and went about the cave, peeking into the smaller caverns branching off from the one he was currently in. "Alikai?" Solaris peeked into the first room, a crude kitchen that Kai was just starting to carve out of the stone, so far it had a water source and a few shelves, as well as a table with no place to sit at yet. "No Tempest Demon in here... onto the next one!"
Finding this new activity much more optimistic then looking for his missing Star Charts the Astral Demon continued the playful hunt for his silent friend, looking through the small lab that Alikai often was working in, then to the shared bedroom where most often Solar slept when he was too tired to hang upside down, or just craved the softness of the fur blankets. Kai rarely slept, and usually it wasnt his choice when he did, the overworked Demon simply fell unconscious from time to time. Hence why him being silent after Solar yelled for him was a bad thing, the last time the young Tempest had fallen into spontaneous sleep it was over a pool of water.
Solaris checked the next room, he usually wasnt allowed in this one due to all the paper in it, Alikai kept the room solely for his precious books, they were still rare to find and the young Demon hoarded them like a Dragon did its treasure. Solar carefully walked deeper into the book filled room, searching behind shelves and mountains of paper for his friend. Solaris had just about given up finding his younger friend when a soft snore caught his attention, as well as the rustling of paper. At the very end of the room, farthest from the door was a huge stack of books, several lay open on the floor, as Solaris approached he caught sight of several small bowls of paint and water, dirty feather brushes were also strewn about.
Rounding the stacks of books Solaris paused as he gazed down at the mess below him. empty papers were strewn about, many covered in dashes of color and smudges, the Star Charts that he had been looking for were also there, each of them painstakingly copied detail by detail into a brand new book before illustrations were added. Each of the pages were beautifully done, their accuracy giving Solaris a brief moment of homesickness. His gaze traveled from the beautiful drawings and paintings to the smaller demon that was in the middle of the beautiful mess.
His red hair and black scales streaked with all kinds of color, draped ever so gracefully so that his sleeping form would not disturb the hard work he had done, Kai snored quietly, his shoulders at ease and his body relaxed. Solar hadnt seen his friend this at peace in a long time. Alikai was no pure blood Angel, but that didnt make him any less beautiful, his features were soft, his body lean and lightly flecked with scars. Solaris carefully crouched beside him, his hands moving to slowly take hold of the younger males body. Lifting the young Tempest into his arms the Astral carefully made his way out of the small library, his sleeping passenger only shifting slightly to nuzzle into the warm body that was cradling him.
The gentle smile never left the older Demons lips as he carried Alikai into the other room, once at the bed the older Demon carefully leaned down, placing him ever so gently on the soft fur blankets. "thank you for doing that for me Kai..." he whispered softly, tucking the smaller Demon into bed before going back to the library to get his Star Charts.
In doing so he never noticed the small smile that graced the face of the sleeping Demon.
