Chapter 2: A Chance to Try
Diana sat at her desk, but the same question was still on her mind. What if she wasn't good enough? Her friend kept talking beside her, giving her the latest gossip about the class, but Diana was barely listening. Her mind kept going back to the poster and what it could mean. She looked down at her notebook. Between her class notes were little fashion sketches she had drawn whenever an idea came to her. Dresses, sleeves, different necklines and other designs filled the pages. They were things she loved creating, even though she had never shown them to anyone. "Diana?" her friend called. Diana looked up quickly. "Hmm?". "Are you even listening to me?" "Yeah, of course," Diana replied. Her friend raised an eyebrow. "Really? Because I've been talking for like five minutes." Diana laughed softly. "Sorry, I was just thinking." "About what?" "Nothing." Before her friend could ask again, the teacher walked into the classroom. "Alright, everyone, settle down." The room slowly became quiet. "I have an announcement," the teacher said. "The school will be having a special presentation at the end of the term. Each class will participate, and we'll be choosing students for different parts." Whispers filled the classroom. Diana's friend leaned closer. "You should do something." "Like what?" Diana asked. "I don't know, but you always have ideas." Diana looked at her sketches again. Maybe this could be her chance to let someone see what she could do. She was nervous, but maybe she didn't have to be perfect. Maybe she just needed to try.
