Chapter 1
On the day of Valentine's Day, my husband took some pills to get a thrill with his mistress, got carried away, and ended up snapping his manhood at a seedy love hotel.
The doctor said it was bad. We either had to spend $119,000 on delicate nerve reattachment surgery or cut it off to save his life.
I held back my laughter as I signed the form. "Cut it off, of course. Saving his life comes first!"
When my husband woke up and realized he was a eunuch, he completely lost it.
I snatched his pillow away with a sneer. "What are you throwing a fit about? You always said being with me made you lose all desire anyway."
My voice was quiet, but every word hit Evan Grant where it hurt most.
His bloodshot eyes locked onto mine. "Wendy, what did you say?"
I smiled, "The doctor said it's either $119,000 for surgery or cut it off. I made the choice for you. After all, staying alive comes first, doesn't it?"
I whipped the surgical consent form with my signature across it straight into his face.
Evan's gaze fell on the word "penectomy", and his pupils dilated.
The next second, he went feral, screaming bloody murder from the hospital bed. "Ahhh! Wendy, you vicious b***h!"
He lashed out, sending the water glass, fruit bowl, and anything else within reach crashing off the nightstand.
I stood there, watching him come undone.
Then the room door flew open.
"My poor boy! My poor son!"
Evan's mother, Mary Grant, came rushing in with tears streaming down her face, but there was nothing innocent about the look in her eyes.
She didn't spare the mess on the floor a glance. She stormed straight toward me, raising her withered hand to slap me across the face.
"You're a curse on the Grant family! You ruined my son! I'll kill you, you shameless b***h! You're trying to end our family line!"
I caught her wrist, face cold. With a quick twist, I shoved her back.
Mary never expected me to fight back. She stumbled, then landed hard on the floor. She froze for a second before letting out a dramatic wail.
"Help! She hit me! My own daughter-in-law hit me!"
She wailed as she pounded the floor with her fists, putting on the same performance like she had rehearsed it a million times.
I was about to throw out a sarcastic jab when a frail figure in a hospital gown stumbled through the door—Emily Brooks.
Her face was still marked with scratches, and a bandage covered her forehead. She looked like she'd been through the wringer.
She paid no attention to the hysterical Mary and rushed to Evan's bedside, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Evan! Evan, how are you? This is all my fault. I'm so sorry."
Tears streaming down her face, she pointed at me and cried, "Wendy, how could you be so heartless? Evan only lost his head for a moment. How could you... how could you ruin his life?"
Just then, the doctor making his rounds walked in. He took one look at the mess and the three people carrying on and frowned.
Evan looked like he'd spotted his last lifeline. He immediately tried to pin everything on me, pointing as he wailed, "Doctor! Help me! She had my manhood removed while I was unconscious. Call the police!"
I played the recording from before Evan passed out. "Save me. My life comes first!"
The blood drained from Evan's face, and the crying in the room stopped cold.
I slipped my phone away and walked to his bedside. "Evan, hear that? You were the one begging the doctor to save your sorry ass."
