The Twin Prophecy

Chapter 3

Rain's Pov

I run to the bathroom as tears flow down my cheeks. I push the door open and slide down the door. My heavy body will stop anyone from coming in. I feel like s**t. I just rejected the one I love. I made him cry. I hear footsteps and my ears perk up. I smell her perfume. I sigh as my sister pushes open the door with her new strength she got over the summer months. She was probably the only who could have done that; since I had made my body heavy as iron. I stand and walk to the mirror. My eyes are silver with hints of blue and grey. My fangs showing sharply. My ears are pointy a bit. Summer walks in to view. Her eyes have changed also. They are gold with hints of blue. She smiles making her fangs show big time. Her ears more pointy than mine. This is how we look when are alone together. Our powers sense each other a lot more since turning 16. I watch the tears slip down my cheeks.

When did my emotional side be stronger than my sister's? I wave my hand making silver fairy dust fall. I never get tired of that. "Rain why were you crying? I could hear you all the way from the other side of wall." She says having her hand in a motion. I turn around against my will. I hate that mom taught her that spell. I roll my eyes as tears slip out. "I wasn't that loud Summer. We have super human hearing remember." I say as my tears keep falling. She nods putting her arms around my waist resting her head on my chest. I rub her back with my hand. We stay like that while I cry harder than I ever did before. I can't believe I rejected Xander. The one person I have ever fallen for as hard as I did. I open my mouth to tell Summer but She stops me. "I have to get back to class before anyone notices the class and teacher frozen in time." She says changing back to normal. I smile rolling my eyes. I turn facing the mirror again.

"Wait can you put my hair up. I don't want to." She asks although it sounds like I have to. I quickly reach up her head as she stands between me and the sink. She hands me a bow and hair tie. I rake my hands through her hair combing it. I quickly put her hair up and the bow. She kisses me on the cheek and bounds out of the room. Summer tends to use her powers more than me. I only use them if I need to or want to. No I never used my powers on Xander to get him to fall in love with me. Although I thought about doing it a lot.

I look in the mirror as my eyes change from silver to blue. My fangs retract. My ears start losing their point. I hate when I change. I love looking like everyone else, well not exactly like them. I hate having fangs. I always bite my lips making them bleed. I hate blood. I hate it with a passion. Not that I drink it anyways. Summer and I don't need it to survive. We are half human and we took after our dad. The bell rings making me realize how long I have been staring at myself. I wash my face and walk out the door. I look around as I walk out the door. Everyone stares at me like they know about me. I start to hear whispers.

"Did you hear Rain was crying over a guy?" I hear a boy say. Wow news travels fast around here. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if a rumor started I'm secretly a girl.

"He is a weirdo unlike his sister who is gorgeous." Another boy says. I sigh knowing that's true. I may be on the cheerleading team with my sister. but I'm so much different than her. I tend to like the older stuff. Like the 60's and 70's. My room basically encompasses that. All people I encounter say I'm an old soul. Which I do believe that. I often say I was born in the wrong era. Now the only reason on I'm on the cheer team is cause I can dance. Our town doesn't have a dance team here. I learned how to dance from watching Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Usher, Chris Brown, and Justin Timberlake.

"Rain is so hot. I wish he swung my way." I hear a girl say. I smile at that one. Sometimes I wish I could take my super human hearing away, but then I couldn't hear the good things some say about me. My nose picks up Xander's cologne. My head turns to where his smell is coming from. Xander and Summer are together. I flip my head around and walk as fast as can before I can hear anything they are talking about.

I walk up the stairs to my third period, when a boy stops me. "Rain Cullen right." He says as I look up. I find myself face to face with a golden brown eyed stranger. My body doesn't react so I know he is not like me. He has black hair with a streak of blonde. He is very gorgeous. His jawline is perfectly chiseled. His lips are thin yet full. He has several tattoos from what I can see. My common sense says stay away from him. I smile at him not wanting to be rude. "Yes I'm Rain Cullen." I say going around him. "I'm Harold Javaad Payne ." He says moving in front of me again. I sigh. Why is he making conversation with me? This is already a long day, Harold is just making it longer. "Nice to meet you Harold but I need to get to class. Bye." I say moving and walking to my class leaving Harold standing there. I hear him say something, but it doesn't ring in my ears. That's weird I always tend to hear what they say.

I walk into class right as the bell rings. I love this class actually. It's one of the easiest to pass. I make my way to a desk in the back. I hear everyone talking about me. Some of it good. Some of it mean. I sit down and make seem like I can't hear them. What they say really hurts but I know I'm stronger than their words. I open my backpack grabbing my text book out. This class is awesome cause of the teacher. "Okay class settle down. Today we are going to learn about how the human body reacts to stimuli. We are going to watch a short video then I'll ask questions after." Mrs. Jacobs says pulling up a video for us to watch. The boys smirk looking at the girls. Girls roll their eyes. I silently laugh as the video begins. I use my powers to turn off the lights without scaring the hell out of them. No one says anything. I've done this way to many times. They all have their eyes trained on the screen. I take my note book out and begin to take notes. "The body's reaction to stimuli is normal..." The man on the video starts talking. I drown out the video as Xander pops into my head.

Does he really love me or was that just a joke. No that couldn't have been a joke. Xander is way to sweet to play someone's emotions. My mind goes to the first day I met Xander. He looked like he just stepped out of fashion magazine. His clothes looked expensive and were expensive. His bright blue eyes shined like diamonds. His hair styled up in a quiff with a purple streak through it. I thought he had to be a new kid, but it turns out we have been going to school since we were in kindergarten.

Flashback

"Rain stop being such doofus. These kids aren't even worth what you give them." Summer says pulling my thirteen year old arm to the lunch room. We bump into a boy I've never seen before knocking Summer and I down. He goes to help Summer up as I get up dusting myself off. "So sorry I didn't see you guys right there." He says as my sister stands up fully dusting her pink flower dress off.

His blue eyes look her over than at me. His brown hair has purple streak through it. Quite cool in my book. His simple blue shirt and light wash jeans look expensive. His shirt making his already bright blue eyes ever brighter. I look him over and see a necklace with a microphone on it. He must love music like me. I wonder if he sings or plays an instrument. I watch him as my sister goes off on him.

"Next time watch where you are walking. Your lucky I'm hungry other wise I would have more to say. Rain let's go get some nachos before they sell out." Summer says pulling my hand for the tenth million time today. He stops Summer from moving forward. "My name is Xander Shepard. What's yours? He asks Summer. She rolls her eyes and huffs at him. Never the less she answers him being polite. "My name is Summer Diana Essence Cullen and the guy you are failing to acknowledge is my twin brother Rain Orion Grey Cullen. Now move other wise you will have more than a necklace on your neck." Summer says as I feel her anger growing. I grab her by the waist pushing her ahead of him. "Sorry She gets hangry. It was nice to meet you Xander." I say as My sister's body begins to change in body heat quickly. I rub my hand on her side and her temp starts reducing. "Yeah it was nice to meet you guys too." He says as he looks at us weird. Probably because I'm holding my sister like we are boyfriend girlfriend.

We walk away from him. "Sum why did you threaten to bite him. You know what mom said if that happened. We aren't fully developed yet. We haven't been able to control when we change yet." I whisper to her my hand still rubbing her side. She leans against my chest as her body relaxes. We hear someone talk. "Are you sure they're twins and not boyfriend girlfriend?" They say. Summer leans away from me and turns to go give that person a piece of her mind. I grab her hand pulling her back towards me. "Summer let them think what ever they want. We know why we are this close." I say smiling at her. She smiles back her dimples showing. "You're right I'm letting my anger get the best of me. Now I need my nacho fix before I really get mad." Summer says as her eyes begin to change from blue to gold. "Summer sunglasses now. Your eyes are changing again." I say as she scrambles to find her sunglasses in her cross body bag. She finds them and puts them on.

End of Flashback

People tend to get the idea Summer and I are together even though we look the same. Just one huge difference is I'm a boy and Sum is a girl. One time this elderly woman bless her sweet heart. She thought Summer and I were engaged cause Summer had on our mom's old engagement ring. The elderly woman wished us the best and said our kids would be heartbreakers what ever that meant. It was funny and that was just this past June. I'm snapped out of my thoughts when I hear my name being called.

"Rain!" Mrs. Jacobs says loudly. I notice the lights are on and the video is no longer playing. I look at her as she eyes my notebook. "Rain How does the body react when we are touched with something hot." She asks as if I don't already know that. My dad tends to let Summer and I help in the E.R. He's not supposed to, but his bosses let him. "First our brain registers that whatever we are touching is hot. Then the pain registers. We call out in pain or we just hiss as it touches. It all happens in a nano second. It's so quick." I say very doctorally. Growing up with a doctor in the family can do that. She nods loving my answer. "Very good Mr. Cullen. I love that answer. Now class we will be teaming up with Mr. Danhles class for our first project of the year. We already assigned partners. So don't complain otherwise I will take ten points off the grade you get." She says as she grabs a list from her desk. She starts naming off the partners.

I start drawing my mom and dad on their wedding day on the blank piece of paper in front of me. I wasn't alive when that happened but I've seen pictures. My mom's gown was a ball gown with red orange her favourite colour. Dad wore a nice tux with a red orange bowtie since mom loves bowties. "Rain your partner will be Xander Shepard." She says as my body tenses at the sound of his name. "Will that be a problem?" She asks as my heart sinks in my chest. "No ma'am it won't be a problem." I squeak out. The kids in the class laugh at my squeak. "Good. Now the subject for this project is totally up to you and your partner. I'm giving you guys a list on the subjects..." Her voices drowns out as my hearing picks up a low growl coming from outside.

My ears start twitching and I turn my head to the full body window. The growling get louder as it nears the window. I watch the window intently as their head appears. Purple eyes with hints of brown giving away their natural colour. His fangs showing dripping with saliva. His ears meet at a point. He looks in the window as my body starts trying to changing in defense. I feel the anger building up inside me. My fingernails start dragging across the desk as I fight my change. We lock eyes and he gets startled. He looks at me as his hands touch the cold glass. My fangs are starting to grow as he begins to look around the room. I feel a growl beginning to form in my throat. I push it down as hard as I can. He growls louder and my body starts to shake as I refuse to change. He locks eyes on a beautiful redhead licking his lips. I know what he's doing. I give in letting my eyes change colour and look at him. He stops growling as he looks at my eyes. He steps away as I begin to stand. I wave my hand freezing the classroom. I change partly and growl as I approach him. He begins to back away. I step up to the glass as he gets down on one knee bowing his head. I make myself walk through the wall as he slowly raises his head looking at me. His eyes full of fear as I open my mouth.

"Who are you? Why have you come here?" I demand in a deep voice. He whimpers at the sound of my voice. He swallows and opens his mouth. "I'm Jay. I was sent here by King Dalino your highness." He says looking down my gaze proving to be to strong for him. I growl balling my hands up. "Tell King Dalino He can no longer send people here. This town is protected by my family until further notice. Also tell him he will not sit on that throne for very long. My sister and I are coming of age. Now stand and leave before I do something." I command him. "Yes Prince Rain." He says quickly stands bowing his head and quickly running away. I quickly change back to normal and walk back through the glass. I quickly get to my seat and unfreeze the classroom just as the bell rings.

I gather my things and run out the door to Summer's class. I wait as Hallie comes out talking to Nicola; a girl Hallie likes. Yes Hallie is a lesbian. Hallie notices me and walks over to me. "Rain what's wrong? You look distressed." She says putting an arm around me. "I need to speak with Summer. Dalino sent someone here not sure what for." I tell her. She knows about us. Hallie is actually a witch. She helps us with our magic when mom doesn't have the time. "She ran off with Xander earlier. No he didn't. What did he want?" She asks ushering me away. She grabs her wand out of her purse. Unlike Summer and I, she has to use a wand. She cleverly disguised it as a pencil. She waves it and everything stops. "We have to go tell your parents. Dalino knew better than to send someone here." She says as we walk out the front door. We race to my car. She waves her wand and the whole school lights up with life again. She climbs in the car as I do. I grab my keys out of the side pocket of my backpack. I stick the key in the ignition and reverse the hell out. I have to tell my mom first then my dad. "Text Summer and tell her it's urgent she meet us at Mom's work." I say as I drive into the street. Hallie nods pulling her phone out.

We drive five minutes until We reach the college. I pull into the parking lot. I find my mom's car and park right next to it. "Hallie you don't have to be your cheerleading outfit anymore." I say pulling the key out. She nods and grabs the duffle bag from the back of the car. I always keep a change of clothes in the car for Hallie, Summer and I. You have no idea the kind of trouble we get into on the daily. She pulls it up towards her setting it on her lap. Hallie opens it and grabs a pair of jeans. I eye her. "What? I want to wear my cheer top." She says taking her skirt off. I roll my eyes unbuckling. I get out and shut the door. Hallie climbs out taking her ponytail out. She runs her hands through her curly unicorn coloured hair.

We walk to the front door. Hallie takes her hand in mine squeezing it. She can always sense when I'm distressed. She tries to relax me but nothing works. She pulls her wand out and starts drawing pictures. Sparks fly out the end as she draws a cat. I smile and draw a tiger. Silver sparks fly off my fingers. We hear a car honk and we see Summer hopping out of Xander's car. She says something to Xander. She turns just enough for me to see him. He smiles when we catch each others eyes. I blush and look away. Hallie nudges me as if she wants me to talk to him. Summer slams the door and runs over to us.

"What was so urgent?" She asks as I take her hand pulling her into the college. "Dalino." I growl.
