First Day

One day later, in the drawing-room of Ethan, a young man in a “Matthew? Are you really serious about taking this job?” “Of course brother, It’s just a part-time job, besides I’m just going to apologize to her and once I completed that. I will leave immediately.” “I see, then good luck on your teaching days, Teacher Matthew.” “I may not be a teacher in the real-world nor have the qualification of becoming one. I believe that I can deal with this task easily as I was one of the great strategists in the Legends of AEON. It’s just teaching some noobs with in-depth guides.” “Well then, as for the rest. They’re planning on opening a restaurant near the main square of the capital. I believe that it will be a Filipino-themed restaurant.” “Very well, at least we will earn some money that we will work hard upon. I can’t just rely on the funds given by the royalty.” “I couldn’t agree more. Then, I’ll give you some news if the others gave their plan for the future. But most likely, it will be a restaurant since the majority of us knows how to cook.” Having such a pleasant conversation about the gist of the future goals to his brother, he smiled genuinely and looked at the watch on his arm. Seeing the time, Matthew stood up and prepare to leave. “I’ll be taking my leave now, my first class will start at 2:00.” “Good luck.” After that, Matthew leaves the room and heads to his personal carriage prepared by their servants in the mansion. His destination is the newly constructed Magic Institute of the Bethia Kingdom. It was completed in the last two weeks and is now operational. Since the magical academy is completed, most of the nobility that studies in other cities transferred there. They say that the school has the advanced facilities and latest equipment in the continent. Matthew will work as part-time instructors there. He expects that most of his students will be coming from the nobility. After all, they’re the only ones who can afford to study at such a high-end school. The commoners can only dream but there are times that the school will give them scholarships if they are talented. Then he arrived at the academy. Students wearing their standard uniform lining up at the entrance. Matthew observed the scene, most of the students have butlers and servants around them. As expected from one of his guesses. The students here primarily have a nobility ranking. Since it was his first day here, he doesn’t have the uniform of the instructor. The latest news from it stated that it will be ready next week. That means that he has to wear something formal for the rest of the week. So, he chose the formal suit that most of the instructors often wear. A black blazer, a white long sleeve shirt with a blue tie, and black slacks. He fixed his hair and clothes before entering. Strolling at the huge magical academy, almost getting lost, he arrived at classroom 203. He prepared himself and entered. Behold was a noisy chattering of the students but they immediately went quiet and returned to their respective seats after seeing him. “So, this is the new instructor?” “So handsome and young, I wonder what family he came from?” “I didn’t expect our instructor to be this young. I will never be absent if our teacher is this cute!” Despite the overwhelming praises of his students, he ignored them adamantly and reached for his seat. He softly thumped his briefcase onto the desk. With chalk in his hand, he wrote his full name simply on the blackboard. [Matthew Gonzales] Reading the name written on the blackboard inside their minds, their faces full of anticipation suddenly turned grim. Matthew didn’t expect the sudden change of the atmosphere. Until one man spoke up. “Hey? I’ve heard our teacher’s name before? If I’m not mistaken, it was from yesterday where he dumped Sistine in the recognition event of the Surrender at 20...I’m sure of it since I attended there also.” “Eh? Seriously? Then he is just a simple adventurer huh? What a waste.” “But one of their members defeated one of our top heroes. Even the king recognized their power. But to think that one of their members is teaching here is just…” “Sistine…” A girl whose age is about fifteen, wearing glass that makes her look nerdy turned beside her. Unfortunately, the center of thoughts is inside of this Classroom. Sistine Felvia a young girl who came from an aristocratic family who got humiliated yesterday after Matthew dumped him, inadvertently. Matthew didn’t mean to do that but that seems to be an idea circulating at the capital. He has to stop his misunderstanding no matter what. The classroom gets noisier, chattering continues, making Matthew’s head dizzy. “Okay silence everyone,” Ernest said loudly. The chattering calmed down instantly. ‘That simple?? In our world, this type of thing is a miracle.’ Now that they are quieted, Matthew took the opportunity to introduce himself. “Good afternoon everyone. My name is Matthew Gonzales and I’ll be your main adviser or teacher for the whole semester. Now, some of you may doubt my capability of teaching since I’m a guy who came out from nowhere. But I assure you that I will do my very best to teach you everything that I know regarding magic...Of course in accordance with the curriculum of the academy. Now, before we start our lesson, I would like to apologize to someone.” Matthew walked forward. “Sistine I’m very sorry for what I’ve done yesterday.” Surprising the class, Matthew lowered his head in front of Sistine who was seated in the first row. But Sistine averted her face, not wanting to look at him. “Sistine, I know that I’ve hurt you but please listen to what I've to say. I’ll be honest...Sistine you’re beautiful you have all the qualities of a fine woman and as a man, I agree with that. Please, I heed your forgiveness, this guilt is killing me from the inside.” He lowered his head deeply, her classmates began to imagine things that are beyond impossible. From their perspective, it looks like a man apologizing to their girl romantically. Everyone’s attention is now at Sistine, their looks urging her to forgive their new instructor so that he can start the class. Then the timid girl speaks weakly: “Are you really going that far?” “Of course, if you think that this is enough then I’ll do whatever you want me to do so that you can forgive me.” “A-anything?” She exclaimed timidly. “Anything reasonable. I will do it.” “Then...I will forgive you.” Matthew’s face glimmered in success after hearing that...but what follows makes that face turn grim. “I will forgive you, but not now…” She declared. “Well, if you say so.” With an indifferent expression on his face. He returned to his desk to start the lesson. It seems like forgiveness is easy to attain at this point. “Everyone, as you mentioned earlier, I am one of the members of Surrender at 20. The name may be a bit weird but it’s just what it is. If you’re free two days from now. You can watch our battle among ourselves...Now, I’ll start the lesson about biorhythmic chanting, magic control, mana biorhythm, and whatever. These lessons are quite boring but I do believe that you learned this last year. Please bear with me, I don’t like students sleeping in my class, got it?” Without complaint or objection, the students nodded in affirmation. So he started the lesson. … Demon Lord Domain. Inside the throne room of the Demon Lord Palace, a young man sits on the throne, looking intimidatingly as he watches his servants kneeling in front of them. In front of him is a beautiful-looking succubus reporting about the Surrender at 20. “According to our intel from the Bethia Kingdom, the Surrender at 20 comprises twelve numbers of unknown origin. They wish for citizenship after saving the princesses that were supposed to be abducted by our demon generals but sadly…” “They were killed right?” The Demon Lord interjected in her report. His servant name Sidur lowered her head, indicating that it was true. “Well, if they were killed then they are weak. But, I’m quite curious about how powerful the one who defeated my generals was. Do you have any idea on who might that be, Sidur?” “Yes, we believe that it came from this person…” She projected an image out from her palm, it was a blonde-haired young man with a sharp look. “His name is Jon Marco Bautista, he is also the one who fought against the top-heroes of the Bethia Kingdom named Alice. According to it, he defeated her using a sword coming out from an empty space.” “Fumu...what about the other one who defeated our 100,000 monsters?” Another image was projected. “His name is Ian Alcantara, member of the Surrender at 20.” The Demon Lord leaned forward, looking interested at the current subject. “So an unknown group from unknown origin came out of nowhere? This confuses me. I’ve been living for centuries and I’ve never encountered any of them. This is strange.” Dabbing his finger on the armrest of the throne, Sidur added something. “We have confirmation that they will have a mock battle in two days. This is a perfect time to see how powerful our enemy is.” “Fumu,... Then we shall watch that mock battle and figure out their power. They will be a hindrance to our plan in the future so use any resources to get it done.” “Yes, my lord.” Back at the magic academy. Finishing the lessons smoothly, Matthew took them out in the field. It was a plain field where students test their magic abilities. It ended in the afternoon, and the surroundings began to darken. A perfect opportunity to show to his students one of his favorites. “Now everyone, thank you for coming here with me in the field. As a treat, I will use one of my magic abilities. So keep your eyes peeled okay!” The student vigorously replied ‘yes’. Matthew turned back to the field and readied himself. He stretched his hands up in the air. the orange glow of sunlight began to glow even more. “[Solar Flare]” He muttered the words simply, in the sky, a countless wide magic circle appeared in an orderly fashion, the orange glow of sunlight began to glow even more. A dazzling heart of wave and light emanates throughout the horizon. The students were befuddled and amazed at such a wondrous sight… “This is the power of our teacher?” “Amazing…” “How powerful...I can feel an enormous amount of magic converging at one point…” Well, the last guy predicted it well. Moments later, a beam of sunlight was gathered in one point then poured down, turning everything on its radius to dust. A searing shockwave was produced, but Matthew already cast some magic barrier to protect his students from getting severe sunburn. Seconds later, the show end. Leaving only the field with the distance of one kilometer away, vitrified. Trees, grass, rocks were turned to dust due to the great heat of sunlight. He looked at his students and their reactions were quite cute. They are all dumbfounded, shocked, and surprised. “What? You’re shocked by that magic? It’s not even one of my powerful skills but to see your reaction makes me feel good.” In spite of his bantering, no one gives him attention. Instead, they were looking at the far distance. The distance where the magic landed. A certain girl was shocked again after seeing Matthew’s ability. A magician having rare magic affinities is impossible, to begin with. And if they do, then they will be famous instantly. But that man who denies the possibilities stood among them. Not to mention, their teacher. It was magic unknown to them, magic that surpassed common sense. This is their first time seeing magic on a large-scale. “Hmm, I guess that’s all for today everyone.” With a satisfied look on his face, he dismissed the class.
