The atmosphere in the living room changed quickly from light, warm, and happy to stuffy and charged. Natalie was looking at her friend with big wide eyes while Emma was frowning thoughtfully.
And even though no one was talking or saying anything, I felt that something big must have happened while I was getting that secretary's call.
I have left when Emma started to play with Zac and they were having fun as she waited for the result of her research or whatever she was doing on that laptop, but when I returned I felt like a bomb had dropped.
