You see Colonel Alexander was about to understand the true meaning of fate.

Normally, colones do not have much to do with direct involvement in the fields of war but there are some times during World War II where high-ranking officers have to place themselves in dangerous situations and have to duke it out. During one of those times Colonel Alexander had no choice but to place himself in the front lines. Unfortunately, he was severely injured and unconscious. He was transported to the nearest hospital for assessment and eventually fell into a deep coma after several surgeries.

Until one day she got home from work and there was a teddy bear with chocolates at her door the next day a poem and on and on it went. She thought it was creepy and felt unsafe so she called the police they took down all her info as she described him down to a t. Although he eventually got caught, she decided to get some security cameras and an alarm system. Sakura decided no more dating for a while. She had lost days of sleep dealing with this issue. She went to work the next day and her superior sent her home noticing how tired she looked. Although she wanted to stay at work because she's always been a workaholic, she took his advice and went home. She slept 12 hours and felt brand new, ready to face the world but not before cleaning up her messy house. Today Sakura felt like conquering the world but she knew she had to start with conquering her fears first. She made her way to work all the while feeling this void in her heart and longing to be loved. She thought she'd start by getting a pet if she could take care of it and love it properly, she would have a better chance to have a thriving relationship or so she told herself. However, her hours wouldn't allow her the responsibility of tending to a pet. Unbeknownst to her she would soon know that her one true love was just around the corner (and down the hall on the 5th floor of the hospital). Something was very different about this day, at least to Sakura it sure felt that way. She scurried down the hall to check in on her patients for that day but some supernatural pull kept drawing her to one particular room, so as soon as she did her other rounds she entered room 505 and there he laid, hooked up to so many apparatuses even she couldn't figure out. Yet amongst all the machinery she could still look past it and onto his chiselled physique. Every part of her work ethics told her to look away but every fiber of her being just wanted to stand there and continue gawking at him. So she quickly collected herself checked all his vitals and walked out quietly. Later that night when she got home and was able to unwind, she began to analyze her feelings towards this perfect looking, comatose man. She knew nothing about him other than what she had read on his chart every day. She wanted to get to know him better so she discreetly started asking some of her close coworkers, who were also her best friends, more about him so she could add it to her records, even though in her mind, she knew the truth behind her curiosity. Days turned into weeks and eventually into months yet Colonel Brian was still in a coma and by this time the war was almost over. Sakura wondered if Brian had any loved ones he'd want to be reunited with. She began feeling as though she may never get to see her own family. Ever since the war she herself had not been able to contact them and she didn't even know if they had survived the four year ordeal but she knew she would never give up. There were so many nights she cried herself to sleep wondering about them and missing her childhood with them. She remembered picking flowers by the side of the hill and bringing them to her mom, the sweet smell of her perfume and her warm hugs. Sakura also remembered how her dad would have picnics with her on that very hill during his lunch break and how it seemed that he always had time for her no matter how busy he was. Having looked into the Colonel's information had triggered memories of her own flooding her mind as well as her eyes with tears. She had cried herself to sleep that night and woke up thinking Well, I must dust myself off, put on my uniform, wash my face and fix my hair because my patients need me. That morning she walked through the hospital doors feeling a bit different and a lot more confident than usual after the prior night's ugly cry. She picked up her charts and who could it be but the Colonel's on the very top of her pile. She thought to herself coincidence? I think not. She quickly fussed over her uniform and hair (as she usually did ever since she first met him), and marched right into his room. Even though he was in a coma she always spoke to him as if he weren't. "Good morning Colonel let me open up these blinds for you so you can get some sunshine on your lovely face. It's such a beautiful day" she said. She stood there admiring his chiselled physique just a little longer than she should have for at that moment who but the on-call doctor walks in. "Good morning nurse Sakura how is our patient doing today?" he asked with a grin and by the way my name is Doctor Yamamoto. She thought to herself who is this new young doctor I've never seen him before and he's rather handsome as well. She answered his question with a bit of a humorous response "well, I suppose the same as usual doc". Now he didn't just grin but rather smiled thinking he was really going to enjoy his job now. Sakura was trying to process her emotions at that moment as she wondered who that new doctor was and why her heart skipped a beat when he smiled at her. So she took a step back collected herself and went on to the next patient. Sakura learned at a very young age that there are certain instances when we can't trust our emotions and that more than likely this was one of those times. The morning quickly turned into a late lunch for her she had been so busy she had no time to eat. She sat outside enjoying the weather and the songs of the birds when all of a sudden here comes the new doctor and without even asking sat at the table with her. She got a little upset that he didn't even ask he just plopped right down. Ugh this guy is going to get old real quick I don't like clingy people or overbearing ones for that matter. So as not to be rude she sat with him for the remainder of her meal then politely said "see you later" and went back into the hospital building. Unfortunately, he came in right behind her and asked her if she could help him get familiarized with the floor they were working on and she nodded yes. She wasn't feeling very chatty at the moment but rather bothered that the one person she really wanted to speak to was still in a coma. A few days had gone by and Sakura was getting used to the new doctor now. Although she didn't like him in a romantic way, he was growing on her but not like an appendage or a fungus, she could foresee a possible friendship in the future. However, rumor was he had a huge crush on her according to some of her friends and coworkers. She just brushed it off especially because they were all making such a big deal about it and she despises being the center of attention plus her heart was set on the Colonel no matter how long it would take for him to come out of his coma. After a long time one of the Colonel's family members came forward and visited with him while Sakura wondered what took them this long she found out a telegram they were supposed to receive never went through so they took it upon themselves to seek out any and all information pertaining to him. The person that came forward was his wife and that's when Sakura's heart broke as her chin hit the floor. How could she have been so stupid to think a man his age and with those looks could have ever been single. She literally ran to the ladies room and into a stall as she bawled and sobbed for what seemed like a lifetime. She didn't want to lose her job but she also didn't want to be his nurse anymore either. How could she address this to her superiors without showing emotion? She needed to think of an excuse but she wasn't sure what that excuse could be. Oh how dumb could I be why do I keep falling in love with the wrong person?! she thought. Suddenly she heard code blue coming from the Colonel's room. She rushed there without a moment to spare. She asked for the room to be cleared as she and Dr. Yamamoto worked on the Colonel. After a couple of minutes they were able to resuscitate him. His wife was notified he would be okay for the time being and that it was hard to tell what could have happened since he has been in a coma for so long. They assigned a new nurse and doctor to his room which further saddened Sakura yet in a way she also felt forced after all what sense would there be in her heart breaking every day by seeing and treating him.
