It had been a quiet day but thankfully flew by, nothing new to Gatlin though. The school was small just werewolves really and even though they were all from the same pack Gatlin had never bonded with them nor had she found any interest in doing so. She would exchange pleasantries and had attempted to include Gatlin many times but she wasn't interested though she was a pack wolf she thought about herself as more of a loner, a lone wolf which in her head sounded badass. Gatlin was happy in her thoughts as she flicked through the pages of her book trying to absorb all its content, her goal was to learn everything she could from the books she didn't take lightly. "What are you reading?" the sound of the unfamiliar voice almost made her jump out of her skin. It was surprising alone someone had snuck up on her considering how good Gatlin's sensing was it made her the best tracker in the pack. "Didn't anyone teach you not to sneak up on someone" Gatlin grumbled quickly slamming the book in her hands shut before she finally turned to face the intruder. The young man seemed to remain careless at her annoyance with a wide grin on his face. He was a handsome man even Gatlin had to admit tall and slender with hauntingly beautiful blue eyes and sharp-shaped bone structure. "I didn't mean to scare you" he chuckled amused over the situation. "You didn't" she grumbled shoving the book into her backpack "you just... Surprised me." "Right" he slowly nodded not believing a word she said, "shouldn't you be in class?" He questioned further. "Not that I have to explain to you but it's my free period" Gatlin was still grumbling even as she began to stuff the book into her bag and stand up to face the stranger. "I didn't mean to piss you off okay" he chuckled again her annoyance seeming to be a source of amusement for him "my name is Arro. I'm just looking for my uncle, the Alpha. I'm new here and I was supposed to meet him today." "A bit late aren't you? The day is almost over" Gatlin spoke adjusting her backpack over her shoulder. "Well better late than never right?" He was quite playful and charming she had already noticed but it wasn't like he was hiding those attributes. "Sorry to tell you the Alpha isn't here. If you were here earlier you would have heard they are preparing for dinner tonight because his son Onyx is announcing Eliza as his mate" Gatlin carelessly explained. These things were very important when it came to the head of the pack frankly Gatlin couldn't care less about their relationship statuses frankly seeing Onyx and Eliza so sickly in love always made her want to vomit. "So I heard my cousin had found his mate one of the reasons I'm early actually. My family and I are expected to go to this dinner. Are you going?" He asked curiously on the matter. "The whole pack is going so, unfortunately, yes" Gatlin simply rolled her sage-coloured eyes. "Well..." he smirked suddenly as he began to back away "maybe this dinner won't be boring after all" he chuckled to himself as he began to walk towards the side entrance of the school building "see you around" were his final words before disappearing inside as soon as the door closed behind him the bell began to ring signalling the end of the day. Before Gatlin even made her way to the exit her aunt was calling. Her Aunt Aurella was the only person she was close to and the person she was planning to live with once she graduated. Aurella and Gatlin had spent hours organising the next few years where Gatlin would work while she attended college when she lived with her it was very exciting for both of them. "Hello" Gatlin spoke once she answered the call. "'Ey Linz" Aurella replied. The woman was more like a sister than an aunt. After all, Aurella was only ten years her senior. "I was about to go home" Gatlin replied. "Chill, I just wanted to ask what we should do with your room once you get here. I was thinking green... " Aurella was excited and it was obvious. This had been the fifth time she had called about it. After all, Gatlin was her only niece since her older brother passed away and the girl was always wonderful company. "It’s still a few months away.." Gatlin spoke keeping herself hidden in the side of the building as teenagers began making their exit. Gatlin explained further as she let her body slump back against the bricked wall. It wasn't as though she was miserable or hated everyone in the pack it was merely the fact Gatlin knew she didn't belong amongst them and just wanted to find her place in the world. "You're right, of course, you're right" Aurella was practically squealing at the end of her sentence "and, Liny happy birthday! Keep an eye on the mail I sent you something special." "Okay, okay don't start. I have to go anyway boring pack dinner tonight. I will talk to you later" Gatlin laughed at her aunt's silly behaviour. The older woman was practically her best friend and even though she wouldn't show it. Gatlin was just as excited to see her the smile continued as she remained daydreaming about the future stuffing her phone into her jean pocket and beginning to join the rest of the students exiting the school until it hit her. A ton of bricks right to the face, a feeling overpowering her senses and vibrating her skin. Gatlin felt frantic and all she could wish was that it was a mistake as her eyes searched the crowd when a shiver suddenly ran along her spine when her eyes widened when they were caught in the gaze of two blazing silver eyes focused on her. Onyx stood across the parking lot Eliza's arms wrapped around his neck and how Gatlin wished she could give how she was feeling to Eliza at that moment, especially under the heavy gaze of the youngest of the Alpha sons there was no denying it. He was her mate and she could only think one thing as the realisation dawned on her it was so broad in her mind the word slipped from her lips "shit...." "
