In the Alpha's office Gatlin was feeling a lot of emotions, her nerves were on edge and apart of her hoped he didn't walk in dropping a bombshell that she wouldn't be leaving. Her fingers toyed with one another as she stared out the window thinking about everything. For barely a minute her mind would flicker to Onyx, the muscular warrior soon wouldn't be her concern any long although a part of her worried over Arro's words and that her feelings wouldn't fade and she would be stuck this way forever just as those thoughts crossed her mind however the Alpha entered the room. The large man flashed a smile as he made his way across the room "so I hear good news is in order, Gatlin" he announced and Gatlin straightened up on her seat at the sound of his voice. "Yes Alpha" she replied keeping her tone formal. "Gatlin, please you can call me Maxon. After all my families fondness for you," he continued to smile sitting down on the seat behind his large desk. "Thank you, Maxon" Gatlin replied though keeping her formal tone. "So you passed the test congratulations" he began to flick through the file atop his desk "your grades in all other fields are perfect and now with this..." glancing up those all too familiar eyes staring at her. Reminding Gatlin of her estranged mate "you've officially passed all your classes to graduate" the words coming from his mouth made a smile spread across her face at the realisation that things were finally back on track. "Thank you" was all she could seem to say. "I do have to ask, however. Are you certain about your decision to leave? I want to make sure you're sure of this" Maxon leaned his large bulky arms onto the desk top as he stared intently at Gatlin as though analysing her. "Yes," she answered without even flinching "yes, I am." "Alright then. No rush however Gatlin just let me know when you would like to le--" "This weekend. I would like to leave on the weekend. I've already got early admission to Northcrest University to start in three weeks I would like to settle in at my aunts as soon as possible" the way Gatlin was rushing was as though she was fleeing but it wasn't the case at all. Gatlin was eighteen and begrudgingly had to admit to herself that despite making friends she still wasn't happy and Gatlin could never envision herself being happy there all she could do was hope a new start doing something she loved would be a start to a new life. "If that's what you want, Gatlin of course" he nodded in agreement "I'm sure you have things to do so..." he trailed off giving Gatlin to chance to leave. She pressed her hands to the arms of the chair preparing to rise from the chair but she hesitated for a moment her fingers drumming against the wood of the arm contemplating her next move. "What happened with Jaxon Marks?" she couldn't help herself but ask. The question was gnawing at her since she found out about him failing. "Excuse me?" the question catching him off guard. "Jaxon Marks, what happened with his test?" Gatlin relaxed back into the seat staring back at the Alpha who almost seemed confused. "Gatlin..." he sighed as though the matter finally clicked "Colton my oldest son was supposed to be Alpha by now I would have stepped down" even saying it it was clear in the words how much it stung him "but when he passed it fell to Huntly he's been training the past six years to prepare for this..." Maxon sighed once again "Jaxon however was never meant to be Beta I'm aware he is Huntly's Best Friend which is why we have dismissed his..." he cleared his throat "behavioural issues, it has taken year's for him to clean up his act so to answer your question, Gatlin what happened with Jaxon was inevitable and if he wants the Beta title he will get back up and work harder and try again.” “You sound like you don't like him very much” Gatlin observed. “He’s led my son into his fair share of trouble... I'm not particularly a fan” he attempted to put politely but it irritation was clear. “As far as I've known him he's been working hard” Gatlin added. A questioning look crossed Maxon’s face for a moment as they sat in silence “I think I should be going now” Gatlin suddenly broke the quiet of the room and stood from her seat. “You have a soft spot for him” Maxon didn't ask it was a statement through and through one which caught Gatlin off guard despite talking about him she didn't expect the Alpha to announce that “you're a good girl, Gatlin and one day you will find your mate... But it's not Jaxon so don't get too caught up about him though he probably doesn't have a mate.” “Why wouldn't he have a mate?” she let the curiosity get the best of her. “He's a half breed, Gatlin. Mother is a human half breeds don't usually get mates” Gatlin nodded questioning herself. She had lived in the pack her entire life and knew none of that information she had been living in her own little world. “I see... Well thank you, Al--Maxon” her brain was already on over load of the sudden information all she wanted to do now was leave and with a nod of his head he obliged. Gatlin seemed to let out a nervous breath she didn't know why as she finally left the office. Despite all the Alpha’s talk, however, Gatlin had one destination once she left that office and it was to see Jaxon.
