She had never been so happy to see the bubbly blonde as she made her way across the field. Onyx's gaze and attention had shifted to her also which made Gatlin let out a sigh of relief letting her head fall back onto the dirt. There were angry looks exchanged, Gatlin deep in her chest could even feel Onyx's annoyance and no doubt an argument was about to go down between the two but Gatlin couldn't care less. Finally, she escaped his fierce stare and she was safe another day to keep their secret. Though all this thinking she hadn't even noticed she was still pressed against Jaxon he hadn't bothered to relent on his hold of her hands. When her sage eyes finally found his brown a smirk was in place on his face "you going to get off anytime or are you liking it there?" he teased.
"You still have hold of my hands" she whispered back. Their predicament was long forgotten as everyone attention was on the now bickering couple so it was more like it was just her and Jaxon.
"You want me to let go?" Jaxon asked but as he did the only movement he was to intertwine their fingers together "say the word, Pryce" he whispered his perfect button nose brushing against hers "say it and I will let go."
But all she was able to do was open her mouth before Callum interrupted "alright everyone practice over! Everyone in their rooms" he shouted and with a groan they all obeyed. Slowly Jaxon released her hands and she finally stood up. For a moment Gatlin stood over him staring down at the man who continued to smirk as he finally slipped his legs out from between her legs and stood up directly in front of her.
"We should do that again sometime, Pryce" he leaned in by her ear whispering "next time clothing optional" teasing once more before he walked off. Gatlin was a little taken back from his bluntness she had never had much interest in the opposite s*x or dating then suddenly all of this lucky she wasn't too shy or easily embarrassed or the girl would be red as a tomato.
"What was that?" Arro questioned as soon as Jaxon walked away.
"Nothing" she shrugged before quickly walking past Arro.
"Yeah right" Arro scoffed trailing closely behind her "getting involved with someone who isn't your mate--" it was Gatlin's turn to scoff this time as she stopped abruptly and turned to face Arro.
"Yeah... I can see how well it's working out" she nudged her head toward Onyx and Eliza who were still arguing.
"Gatlin..." Arro sighed.
"Its fine" she shrugged him off continuing back to the small camp house. By the time she and Arro got there, no one was in their rooms but the common room by the entrance lazing around on the little lounge or the floor.
"I love that just cause his mate shows up we are all sent to our rooms like pups" Billy whined looking out the window at the pair still arguing.
"Why the hell are they arguing anyway they found out they were mates not long ago shouldn't they still be in bangin’” Kylen commented.
“That’s what I thought? Right, Jace weren’t you and your girl at it for like a month?” Billy questioned looking over at the tanned young man lounging against the arm of the couch. He smirked for a moment before slowly nodding.
“Newly mated at it like rabbits” Billy continued with his eyes still looking out the window.
Gatlin almost choked at his use of words “excuse me?” She questioned.
“What? I mean I know mates aren’t all too common now but everyone knows that when you find your true mate... That first touch” Billy sniggered like a child “it’s only a matter of time before you get to bone town.”
“What about if they found a mate but are denying the bond?” Jaxon suddenly asked and Gatlin couldn’t help but give an annoyed look.
“Yeah” Billy laughed “right. Like someone would deny their mate....”
“In the theory of someone denying their mate even after finding them” Jace began to speak this time “walking into hostile territory they will crave it, crave their mate no other touch will do” Jace shrugged “maybe someone else can hold them over for a while—“
Arro tensed suddenly “excuse me” he muttered before walking off to his room but no one took notice besides Gatlin that is who followed the movements of the young Alpha with her eyes.
“But it’s inevitable” Jace finished off saying which made Gatlin gulp. Her eyes suddenly turned to glance out the window to Arro and Eliza who continued to argue it seemed like there was no end. Though the fates decided this man was right for her Gatlin didn’t agree and the more she got to know Arro the more she didn't understand why they were paired together in the first place. Two completely different people from two different worlds with nothing in common it made no sense in her mind.
“Unless she slaps him or something it’s not going to get any more exciting” Billy shrugged finally stepping away from the window. One by one the boys filed off into their rooms Jaxon was one of the last who she noticed was giving her a strange look. Gatlin debated whether to check on Arro but when she knocked there was no reply so she decided to leave it till tomorrow and go embrace as much rest and reading as she could but even that was short-lived maybe twenty minutes had passed when there was a knock at the door. Gatlin groaned as she went to open in her eyes widened and inside she was cringing seeing Onyx standing on the other side. A scowl across his face as his eyes focused on her.
“She knows...”
