Alpha Koen got set for the meeting; he arrived at the office a few minutes after everyone had arrived. Walking down his office, he called on Ranee.
"The welfare of these mateless wolves has been given to you, and with your years of working with me here, you haven't failed me. Now is a challenge; the first time I got to be more interested in helping a mateless."He said it with a disturbed heart.
"I don't get you." She spoke with a shocked look.
"Luna doesn't deserve what is happening to her; the circumstances that have surrounded her, I know, might have made her give up in love. At the same time, she came here to give her the best and help her find true love. The question remains: Can she face the insult more with other mates, and if yes, how can we come in?"
"I see you are worried about her; everyone is set to be treated equally, but Luna, with her predicament, I suggest we monitor who ever contracted with her." She suggested.
"You have a point there, but won't you think Alpha Lucas and Xavier may have an interest in her?" He spoke, praying that they should have an interest in her.
"I thought of Ashford and his brothers." She answered.
"No, those alphas can't make her happy. I suggest we wait for whomever comes for her." Alpha Koen added
Meanwhile, being the headmaster of the academy, he was the one who had prepared the letter, the same alpha that wanted her but needed to watch her carefully even as she was set to be contracted by any of these alpha as well. He was careful with his discussion with Ranee to avoid disclosing his plans. The same time he prayed that Alpha Lucas and his brother got to contract her, he was sure that they were alphas who might not end the contract well with her, and once this was done, he then got her heart.
"It is the Mateless Academy; whoever shows interest after the party gets to have her, provided she shows the same interest for such an alpha." Ranee spoke.
"It time for the meeting." He reminded her and stood from his seat. They walked to the meeting hall, where he sat before the council.
"It is no longer news that the welcoming party will hold tomorrow, after which each mate will be taking those that have contracted to them; don't forget, it is not a force; if she fails to accept the alpha contracted to her, we keep her until she has changed her mind. And on the other hand, a woman can as well choose whom she wants to have the contract with. Or do any of you wished to contract with any before it gets to the public tomorrow?" He asked.
Ashford cleared his throat, looked at his brothers, nodded his head, and then spoke. "We have interest in Luna." He spoke loudly.
"Luna" Koen asked, looking at them.
"Do you all know what you have requested?" He asked them.
"Yes, we want her. She should spend the contract with us." The echo.
"Okay, then get the file prepared." Koen spoke and ended the meeting.
Getting to his office, he yelled at Ranee.
"You betrayed me; you should have told me earlier that you had discussed this with them before coming to disclose it to me. How then did those people suddenly generate quick interest in her?"
"Sorry to have cut you short, but the truth remains that I Ranee have no hands in this; I only wished just as you had wished, and at the other hands, Ashford be checking on her along with his brothers, an information I got from security." She responded, defending herself as well.
Koen breathed down, sat on his chair, and was worried.
"Do you have something hidden from this?" She asked him.
"No, just that I don't want her to fall into their hands. They might not treat her well."
"You can't conclude; is it Xavier's and his brother, the proud alpha, that will do her better?" She asked.
"Yes, that's been my thought."
"Alright, she has her choice to make; not just that, let's watch how it goes after the party." Ranee spoke.
"Alpha Xavier's contract termination with Norah has been properly done; it is now valid that Norah isn't his mate any longer. I suggest we replace Luna there." He spoke more.
Ranee still wonders what prompted him such so.
"I still do not know your reason for insisting on this; I believe your reason might be genuine and might favor her in return." She Concord to that.
"Then let a message be sent to Alpha Xavier before the party." He requested.
"No, Alpha, they should as well get to see her at the party; if they have interest in her, they make their intentions known. Moreover, it is yet to be known who wanted to contract her at first and the reason why she is here." Ranee recaps.
"Since the hidden person has refused to show up, whoever shows up, take her." He draws a conclusion.
"Alpha Xavier and Brother, the two proud beings What really has prompted Koen to suggest so?" She wonders about the amazing suggestion, while in her office
"Mine duty is to see that the Mateless are well taken care of and not mating them with any. He has his reason. I pity the innocent Luna." Nevertheless, she didn't know his reason for doing so. "I rather wish that Luna fall into a caring and lovely hands, and not Xavier nor his brother; they are Ranee last though to Contract with Luna.
The next day, everyone gets set for the welcoming party, which is set to take place in the night.
Ranee has gone to check on Luna, as have others.
"Today marks the expected day, the welcoming party, a day you are to look into every Alpha eye and at the same time get to be attracted to those who might have interest in you after the party. I suggest you get your mind set for this."
"Do you think I will be loved again?" She asked with a weak look.
"You look weak, and at the same time you are not ready for this; what is wrong?"
"Is nothing." She responded.
"I disbelieve your response Luna, please tell me more." Ranee insisted.
"What happened to Ashford? Do they show interest in you?" Ranee became curious.
"Can I trust you?" She Ranee.
"That's if you wish." Ranee answered.
Luna told her all Ashford had said about their interest in contracting with her.
"That's amazing, but can I ask?" Luna demanded.
"You can as well ask." She answered.
"How true are they with the lover the profess?" She became more curious.
"Luna, they only spoke out their minds; it is then left with you to decide."
"I have to leave you to get prepared; soon the party will commence." Ranee stood and gave Luna space to get herself prepared.
However, Alpha Xavier has told his brother about his intention of getting a new mate after the party, which he hasn't concluded until he has set his eye on them all.
Luna got her clothes pulled off, headed to the bathroom, took her bath, was under the shower, she has the water run down her body. It cooled here body, she shook her hair and used her hands to wipe the water on her face, at the end made her way to her room.
Everyone got ready for the party; all the Mateless, including Charlie's and Sharlene, were present; they had come with whom they were already contracted, to view the party.
It was a night to show the new-awaited mateless to be with before the alpha.
Luna dressed up and had to sit where others were sitting, yet she wasn't comfortable, seeing her colleague rejecting her. Koen feared that they should not be screaming from among the Mateless maidens over Luna.
She sat quietly; it was time to show them up.
"I pray she should find one among those who will get to love her." Ranee prayed in her heart, while Koen focused his attention on Xavier, wishing him have her as his mate.
"Will Xavier or his brother get to contract her after today?" Koen asked
It was then announced, to be presented before the audience.
While they stepped forward as instructed, Luna was left out of the line; she felt disgraced already, but her face put a smile on the faces of other alphas that had seats watching the action.
"She is beautiful; her face gets me attracted. She is Luna, am having interest in her." Alpha Lucas spoke within him. This was also what had ringed on both sets of alpha minds.
It was so surprising to her colleagues; they observed the look from the set of alphas on Luna. "What is wrong? "Lina said to a close Mateless who also wished to be contacted by any of the alphas.
They tried to ignore it in order not to cause problems. It then became time to dance with the mateless. Luna was surprised at how the set of Alpha drew closer to her to have some dance.
"What is wrong? she asked herself.
"We want to have a dance with you." The Blackwood's and Ashford requeste, aside from Koen, who remained silent, looking at them.
"Am confused." Luna said, immediately she left the hall. They struggle to follow her.
Everywhere became noisy, a shame to other Mateless maidens.
"Why has this really happened?Luna asked herself, facing the wall in her room. She heard a knock at the door. And had toconduct herself.
She step forward, got the door opened, and to her surprise, it was Sharlene standing at the door. Luna quickly hugged her, with a smile on her face.
"I have missed you; I felt so much pain when I learned you left, you didn't care relating your disappearance to me."
"I am sorry for that, Luna. I never wanted to distract your sleep. I watched you be sleepless all through, and when I felt you had slept off, it was already morning, a time I had to meet with my contracted mate. Although I have been wishing a day to see you again, and here today comes the day." Sharlene spoke; she held Luna's hands.
"Are you happy where you are, with the alpha you have a contract with?" Luna asked her.
"I think I found true love with him. This is not the set of Alpha that wished dancing with you; they are a set of alphas from a different part." She answered.
"Are you saying that the set of alphas who almost forced me into dancing with them might not be good to be with?"
"I don't say so; I was only trying to get your knowledge about this. They are nice to look at,but I can't tell who you should choose, whoever requests a contract with you, and you feel like being with such, what then stopped you.?" Sharlene made her feel at home.
"I don't have the feelings to love them. I sense they are after my beauty and not to grant me true love."
"Luna I will advise you to take a step and find true love among the alphas that have presented themselves to you."
"Who do you think I should go for?she asked.
"Make your choice. Again, remember, once you have gotten this done, you will be respected and honored among your mates. Although there might be a little jealousy, it will be what you can overcome." Sharlene is concerned.
"You have encouraged me; I will think about it." She was about to end the discussion when Ranee came in.
"What have you just done there? You left without showing concern to anyone. Didn't you see how they all wanted you?"
"I'm sorry, the action I took wasn't a sign of rejection; rather, I was confused. I needed to be sure of what and whom to accept if they requested a contract." She answered politely.
"Aside from the Ashfords, others are yet to show interest, so I plead with you to come out there and have them dance with you."
"Sorry to disobey you at this point. I am not in the mood to do so. I am scared, they might have hidden agenda, they might get me drunk and, with that, take advantage of me. So I plead with you, there should be a contract presentation." She requested, feeling unsecured.
"Is that what you want?" Ranee asked.
"Yes."She answered.
"Have it done first thing tomorrow morning." Ranee promised and left.
