Chapter Four

He kept maintaining the distance as he carefully observed every move I was making. It has been like this for ages. I'd never thought I'd be playing tag in a fight. It was making me lose interest. When I try to move close, he'll try to take a few steps back. He keeps doing the same thing again and again. Just what is he waiting for? I finally grew impatient and began taunting him. “Were all Cimmerian men this weak or just you?" His forehead creased. He was not letting it get to him but I went as stubborn as I could be. “If it were up to me, I think you'd be better off doing the housework than fighting for the pack. Everybody's watching us right now would think so." I scoffed. Though the second attempt affected him, he still needed a little more push. “You know what? Just give up already. You're not a soldier. We'd never let a coward fight for us, let alone protect us." I let out the last sentence as clearly as possible. It didn't take long when he finally snapped, letting himself aggressively charge towards me. “Ahhhhh!" He yelled as he flew his fist towards me. I ducked my upper body down to avoid his punch then swiftly closed our gap. I playfully smirked. “That's more like it." I pulled his head down and raised my knee to meet his face. He then held his nose in pain. Dropping my knees, I slid my right leg hard against his feet leading him to fall. While intentionally slipping forward to his side, I was planning to land an open-palm strike on his ribs but I stopped. He was still on the ground when I offered my hand to help him up. His brow furrowed in confusion before glaring back at me. He grabbed my hand and then fixed himself irritatedly. “Sorry, I wouldn't have done that if you had taken me seriously." I justified. “Well, he wouldn't have done that if I didn't warn him and everyone else." I turned around and saw Zeke standing there with crossed arms. “Farah, why are you doing here? I've been looking over for you. I've been worried." I know what he meant. He told me to rest at home but here I am, doing the opposite. It has been one week since I fainted but he still thinks I need to take some time off training and doing physical labor. There was nothing wrong when our pack's doctor examined me, he suspected that I may have been stressed out and just needed to rest. I followed his advice by taking several days off. But with nothing to do at home and my muscles were aching for exercise, I decided to do a quick run. Along the way, I was called out to help a couple of werewolves and I did. After that, I passed by our pack's small training area and eventually found myself searching for someone to do a practice fight with. “I-I was already on my way home. Just doing some short run." I averted my eyes. “The truth." He asserted. “I was planning to have a run, I've met one thing after another and it led me here now. I just want to do something, Zeke. I am this pack's Luna now and yours too. I can't just show people that I'm powerless." He reached out his hand and gently stroked my head. “I know I shouldn't be overprotective of you but you still need supervision. You can't blame me, I just saw you collapsed like that." Even though he was worried about me it wasn't new. This time, it just felt more different. Probably because now I can treat him more affectionately without holding back I smiled and put my arms around his neck gently. “Mhmm...Okay, I understand. " I lay my head on his shoulders. "Sorry I made you worry, Zeke." I put a finger on the side of my chin. “For an apology, should I make something special for dinner? It will be a little different than usual." I grinned. “I always thought every night with you was special." “When did you learn to sweet talk?" I jest. I've been out of the moon these past few days. Things have started to change after my accidental confession to Zeke. I should've done it sooner If I'd known things would become like this. Even though I am a great fighter, I have always been half-witted when it comes to romance. The sun had already set the minute I started putting candlelights, silverware, and plates. I set a newly polished vase at the center which holds the roses I've collected from my small garden. Recently, I've been tending to it from the back of our house. Someone would never think I'd be interested in flowers but I've always been peaceful when I'm close to nature. I began adjusting the room lights and picking lovely songs to play during the dinner. Taking a step back, I look at the room with varying angles. I feel like I overdid it. Well, maybe not. Yup, I did. Hmm, not really. I rubbed my chin, still contemplating. My thoughts were then cut off when I heard a knock on the door. Zeke. I'd never thought he'd come home early. Just the right time, I guess. I had this huge smile on my face as I headed towards the entrance. “Zeke, you're h—Yvonne?"
