“Alpha, I've brought her.” Drastically letting go of my arm, I abruptly landed on the floor. He immediately put my arms behind my back and tied my wrists while I continued looking down.
When the guard’s footsteps slowly moved back, I stretched my head up to see what was in front of me.
Five people came into view.
I've never seen the other three but the remaining two were their alpha and his follower before.
“You can go now."
“Yes alpha", The prison guard replied before he went on his way.
“Hey Jace, that's the one?" said the guy with shaven brown hair who was sitting comfortably with his arms loose on both sides of the sofa.
“Alpha, Ray.” The bronze-colored man who was sitting across from him corrected his words. I blinked when he landed his round, light green eyes on me. His penetrating sight hides some suspicion and caution.
He was the one who struck me before but I don't feel any pain already.
Moving my attention back from the guy named ‘Ray’, I notice his unpleasant stares towards me. I glared back making sure that I didn’t like what he was doing. “Someone's feisty". He grinned.
A few growls were heard inside the insulated room. It came from the alpha and another woman who was standing near the alpha's table. Wearing a black musculine suit, her shoulder-length, coiled blonde hair was standing out. Looking at her cream-colored skin and small features, anybody could mistake her for a doll.
Could she be the Luna?
My wolf scowls at the idea.
“R-Riz, babe, you know I'm kidding." Ray stuttered, pacifying the woman who was leaning against the side of the desk, sneering at him.
My eyebrows met, clearly confused at the situation.
“Anyway, all of us present here are his betas, the alpha's right arm. I'm Rizza, call me Riz for short. That over there is Ray, an A-HOLE and my mate". She smiled, clearly emphasizing that A-part.
I nearly thought she was with the alpha. I ignored the useless relief that came over me as I knew that it wasn’t my own.
“That guy over there is Jackson, Alpha Jace's Brother." Looking at a man who was standing at the very back of the room and seemingly in a deep thought. Although his hair color was the same as the alpha, it was mid-length and tied up from behind.
Continuing her speech, she introduced the man who seemed to be stern-looking before.
“I'm sure you met Sam, the one who knocked you out."
“And finally, our alpha, Ja—"
“—Enough with the introductions, she is a prisoner." He interrupted. “She doesn't get to know anything, and she doesn't get to ask." He coldly spoke. His broad chest moves as he breathes the air out of his lungs. The air surrounding him was powerful and intimidating. His chestnut hair was slicked back, highlighting his dazzling features.
I was fighting myself not to observe more or else I would become distracted and pulled in by the connection.
Well, he is our mate.
Shut up.
“You look like you're having a hard time there." Jace taunted.
Everyone was puzzled at what those words were supposed to mean. I realized that he hadn't told them anything about that.
If there's one last thing we can agree on, it would be not telling others about our connection to each other.
I've already had my plate full of my wolf, it saves me the trouble of getting involved with people whose throats are going to be ripped out by my claws very soon.
“Worry yours. They can be hard to tame", I smirked anticipating his conflicted face which he did as I saw the forming veins on his neck.
An alpha might be the strongest, but his wolf is the worst.
Rey leaned on the backrest while moving his head to look at both me and the alpha. “Okay, there is something fishy about you two. Man, Jace, you should look at yourself right now. You look like—"
“Shut. It." He glared at Ray who quickly turned his head to look elsewhere.
“Get out. All of you."
“Alpha Jace, I don't think it is a good idea. We don't know her background. We don't know what she's capable of if she's alone with you. You need one beta with you." Sam suggested.
“I am perfectly capable, beta Sam. I don't need one. I want you all out now."
“Yes, alpha" They spoke in unison.
"Jace, just don't be too hard on her. I don't think she's a bad person."
I stared back at the blonde woman whose eyes seemed to hold concern.
Her hair might be similar to Yvonne's, but she's nothing like her. This is just one of the tactics to put my guard down.
I glanced at them as they left the room one by one.
It irritates me that it's going to be just the two of us. His betas were great distractions but now, I just have to remain as rational as possible.
Every second, I remind myself that I need to focus on June, that once I get him out of here, this man and his pack will pay tenfold.
“Just, you wait," I said out loud.
He roughly grabs my chin towards him with his face now inches away from mine.
“Wait until you can take my life again?" His expressions darken. "I think you are the one mistaken here. I would not think twice about killing you even if we're mates." He seethes.
I heard a whimper in my head.
I shake the heavy feeling of my wolf as I try to take his threat head-on.
“I am not afraid. Try me."
Though I was confident, I could defeat him. I am unsure if I could remain reckless since June is also involved.
“You..." He looks at me for a second before letting go of his tightened grip on my jaw. He massages his forehead before speaking again.
“You are uncontrollable in many ways."
He then started walking back and forth.
“Who are you? Are you one of those rouges? Why are you trying to kill me?" Questions continued piling on top of each other as I continued ignoring them, but I was taken aback by the last question.
"Who was that dead man beside you?"
Noticing the change in my expression, he asked again. “Who is he?"
“You don't have the right to know. I won't say anything."
“Is he related to you?"
“I'm an orphan."
“Then, who is he?
I stopped talking, not planning to answer him any longer.
“Who?!"
I remained collected at the sight of a desk that was sent flying seconds later after ignoring him yet again.
“Answer me, or you'll gonna end up just like that! Don't make me regret it!"
“Do it! I don't even get to know or ask anything. Why bother answering your questions when I have a lot my—Ah!"
The back of my head abruptly hit the wall before I found myself centimeters above the ground. He was grabbing me by the collar of my shirt to lift me.
I didn't move an inch and just looked at him straight in the eye. I will not let myself get provoked by any of his actions.
“Do you think this a joke?"
“Is killing my entire pack a joke?"
“So you are one of them." He grunts, putting my feet back on the ground and his face reaching to my side. “Now what will I do to you? Your life is in my hands. I could kill you right now if I wanted to." He breathed.
“Go ahead. You took my life, so you just killed me anyway. It makes no difference."
“You're confident because you don't believe that I would kill my mate just like that."
I snorted. “Believe me, I would rather kill myself than live and curse the world that you were ever my ma—"
His movements cut me off as he swiftly tapped his head to the side like he was reeling for a kiss. Though he stopped moving, his lips were almost touching mine.
It took me five seconds to react to what had happened, and before I pushed him away, he tossed me to the floor, hurting my wrist in progress.
I grunted in pain as the cell guard pulled me harshly. I glared at the alpha who was now back on his desk, not giving any last glace before I was dragged out of the room.
The pain surely kept me up all night.
“If they hadn't tied me tightly with the rope then the fall wouldn't have been this bad and these chains made it—" trying to loosen the cuffs. “Much. Much worse."
Werewolves heal fast but it would take some time if it came from an alpha.
My eyes then went to June, who was sleeping soundly at my side.
In just a day, this child lost everything without warning or even a chance to get stronger.
I, on the other hand, had all the time in the world, but I wasn't able to do anything.
Stop blaming yourself. It was not your fault.
Look who decided to show up. Sure it wasn't. It was OUR fault.
Listen, Farah, I really tried reaching out to you all these years but I couldn't. I don't even know why I was able to show up that day.
I don't know if it was because of their deaths, your lover, or meeting our mate.
Then why did you stop me? Even if I wasn't able to stop it from happening, I should've been able to avenge them.
If you've killed your mate, then you will be devastated.
I'm Zeke's Luna, no one's mate but his. I'm already an empty shell as it is, one favored death isn't going to destroy me rather it'll even bring some life in me, don't you think?
You can't go against what is destined.
Then why do rejections exist if there is no way out in mates?
I promised you, that things happen for a reason, and meeting him is one of them.
