When It rains it pours

I take my time stretching while everyone else jumps right into sparing. I can see a few of my classmates are already tired and we aren't even 20 minutes in yet. There are some that are acting hotty as if they are the best at hand to hand. You can tell that none of them have ever actually done anything like this before. With a bit of a smirk I feel happy knowing that for once there is something I can actually do and not be ashamed. Once I finish stretching I take off jogging around the field. The Rye is almost ready for harvest. It can be a little tough to jog through but that is what helps build your endurance. I can hear some shouting in the distance then I hear the whistle blown. I head back over to the main group. I realize as I get closer that its Paige throwing a tantrum over something. Once I finally get back over I can hear what she's yelling about. “Why is SHE running around the field while the rest of us are sparing with our partners. I thought YOU said that who ever was stuck with you wouldn't get any special treatment!” I look at our teacher and he just looks annoyed. I know what's coming next. This will be fun. Mr. Watterson smiles at me with a bit of a glint in his eye. It's the same look he gives me when he's going to show no mercy. The same glint that means that I can go all out if I want. “Alright. I am a man of my word. However... If Rora here gets hurt I insist that everyone understands that it was Paige that pushed the subject so it will be Paige who is punished. Just as our second rule stated.” With a grin he turns to me “Now. If you're ready Miss Rora. Shall we start?” I take a defensive stance knowing that he enjoys playing the offense. I already know who should win this sparring session. Watching his feet as well as his eyes I try to predict what he plans to do. Slowly we start to circle. Hearing some snickering and comments about my brother; I hit the ground as my feet are swept out from under myself. There's an even louder wave of giggles and taunts from my classmates. Cursing I get up. The look in his eyes are telling me to focus and ignore the things outside of our match. Shaking my head I start to focus. I take up my stance once more. I dodge as he lunges towards me. Almost dancing on my toes I spin around him and kick him in the back. He falls forward from being off balance. Just barely catching himself he looks almost like a viper ready to strike a deadly blow. Coming at me with a speed that would catch most off guard throwing punches after punches I struggle to block all of them. I can feel the wound on my head from earlier open again. With a warm stream flowing down into my eyes I wipe my face and continue. Taking the offense I start my assault. “Do I see a hint of fear in his eyes?” I push the thought back and continue my assault. Speeding up I keep going. Landing hit after hit my dear teacher is slowing down. Picking up my speed more I decide to finish this match. With one final blow the medics are rushing over to check on our teacher. Everyone is silent. Groaning I realize just how much I messed up. I go sit away from everyone. I was already the orphaned freak. Now I'll be something like a monster too. I watch as the medics finish their healing of our teacher. Once they're finished he walks in front of the class. “See class...    Do you understand the importance of stretching and warm ups now? While the rest of you went straight into fighting each other Rora here was able to best one of your teachers!” He says this with a dark grin on his face. I know he's both hurt and proud by this moment. As my mentor he's proud that I bested him for the first time. As my teacher he is worried that one of his students was able to best him. Like a double edge sword I know there's some kind of storm and punishment coming for this moment. Hopefully It ends up blowing over. Somehow I don't think my classmates will let that happen easily. The bell rings and we all head to the locker rooms to change and head to our last class. With a sigh I know this day is almost over. Being Friday as well I know I wont have to see the rest of my classmates for a couple days. That brings me great happiness.
