My Third Chance

Chapter 4

Here I am on my way to another state. To a place called Crestwood Oaks. You'd be wondering why I'm going to another state. Well, you remember Milly telling me she had a proposition for me. Yes well, that conversation went like this.

"I have a proposition for you"

I'm looking at her like she grew two heads.

"Just hear me out, okay? Then if you don't like the idea, I won't bring it up again." I just nodded my head yes and she continued.

"I have this house up state in a small town called Crestwood Oaks where I was born and raise. I only use the house when I go on vacations. Nobody knows where this town is. And by nobody, I mean Tony. He knows that I have a house upstate and that's it. So, you could go over there to get your head clear. And get everything sort it out. You could stay as long as you want, and nobody would bother you. The house is like a cabin in the middle of the woods. But I know you would love it. And the kids too. Technically is in the small town, but the house is kind of at the border of the town."

I really didn't know what to do. For one side it would be nice, but the other side I don't know. I mean the kids have still time before getting in school. We still are on summer vacation.

And work, well I can actually work from home for a couple of days. I just need to take my computer with me. I just hope that town has really good Wi-Fi connections.

With that in mind I tell her, "Okay I'm going to go but just until next weekend the kids need to go to start school"

"Okay, I just call my friend Antonio over there, he can help you get settle. Unless you want me to go with you... never mind I can't right now, I need to make some calls, but I can join you in a day or two?" She sounded hopeful.

"Yes, that's fine by me. And while we wait for you, we can get settle and explore the town. Call that friend of yours, Antonio you said his name was, right?"

With that we called the kids because we were going back to her apartment. Inside the apartment Milly went to her room to talk to her friend Antonio.

Waiting for her to be done with the phone call, I turn to the kids.

"How was your time with grandma today? Did you have fun?"

"Yes mama, we had ice cream and watch Flushed Away. We played hide and seek too." said Tristan.

"We had lasagna too mama. And it was delicious." Said Magnus rubbing his belly with a smile. "We asked grandma to save you a piece because we know it's your favorite mami."

'How did I get so lucky with my kids? They are so well manner and well behave. And they only have seven and six. Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to an old soul when I'm talking to them.

I smiled at that "Yes, lasagna is mami's favorite but so is the spaghetti. Specially if it was grandma that made it." I say patting his head.

"Thank you so much for thinking of me my boys. I love you so much, always and forever"

"I love you too mami. Always and forever." both of them said.

Always and forever is something that I used to say to Tristan when he was a baby and it kind of stock with us.

I kissed and hugged both of them.

"Okay, all done" we heard Milly coming towards us.

"You called your friend Antonio?"

"Yes, and he said that he's going to get his son to help you with anything that you need because right now he's going to go on a plane to Japan and won't be back till next week. His son's name is Evan."

The name gives chills down my spine. The good kind of chills. How can I react to a name just like that? 'Never mind that.' I need to get the information of this Evan.'

"Evan what?"

"Evan Sanchez"

I repeated his name on my mind. I liked it and then without noticing I said it under my breath. "Evan Sanchez"

"Today you should go and look for clothes at your house and the necessities. You could stay the night here with me. And tomorrow morning you could go" Milly offered.

That was last night. And right now, we are on our way to this cabin. All I have in my head is 'what I'm going to do now? How I'm going to tell the kids? Are they going to hate me? Would they forgive me?'

I'm so lucky that they haven't asked me yet for their dad. And just like they heard my thoughts Tristan asks "Where's daddy? Why isn't he coming with us mami?"

"Yes mami, why daddy is not here?" Magnus asks too.

I panic for a moment. Then I tried to compose myself taking a breath say, "Well my loves, because daddy is working and mami wanted to spend time with you like we used to do before remember?"

Tristan gives me this look that he isn't fool by me. 'Seriously can they for a moment be their age?' I look at Tristan and give him the best smile that I could mastered.

We left Milly's apartment at seven this morning and now was ten in the morning. My GPS said that we were about fifteen minutes away from our destination. That was a relieve because we only stopped for gas and bathroom breaks. I need it to stop driving. My whole body is killing me.

By this time, we were passing by the town that Milly told me. It was a beautiful town. I immediately fall in love with it. There were people on the streets walking around with their kids. They were passing each other and saying hi to one another. Everywhere that I looked people were smiling. And the houses that I saw where a dream come true. Made of wood. I could live here forever. It was my kind of place to live in.

I started to get so exited wanting to explore it. I knew from that moment that it was going to be hard when the time to leave came.

I kept on driving and then like the GPS said fifteen minutes later we were at Milly's cabin.

In front of the cabin there was the most beautiful man I ever seen. I mean Tony was handsome, but this man was absolutely gorgeous.

'How can there be someone so handsome out there?' this man had everything on his looks. He had blond hair not too long, but not short either. He had a baby face, but his body was everything but baby. Broad shoulders with muscles on them. I never seen a man like that. His hands were big from what I could tell in the distance. And he looks really tall. At least 6'2 and that compare to me it's a lot. His legs look like the size of a small ham. 'YUMM'

I saw him waving at me and it got me out of my trance. I got out of the car. Then I heard a growl. I looked around me but didn't find any animal that could growl, only squirrels. And they for sure don't growl. Then I saw Evan looking at me up and down with so much hunger in his eyes that I thought I imagine it.

He notices me looking at him checking me out and turns his head to the side. Seeing Tristan and Magnus. Then he come to me being close to me it's when I notice the frown on his face.

'Why is he frowning at the kids? How can there be someone so handsome out there?' shaking my head to get those thoughts out of my head. I was really nervous but I still tried to walk to him. 'I mean he most be Evan, right?'

That's when I hear another growl.
