I was the first to arrive at my class, so I sat down and waited for everyone else to arrive. We all got up early to bathe and prepare for our first day as college students attending lectures, thanks to Victoria's early morning personality.
I was the first to enter the bathroom to take a bath, and after getting dressed, I gathered my textbooks and notebooks, taking the time to write down my classes for the semester and my daily schedule.
When I was finished, I waited for them to get dressed before we all left the dorm room. I was the only computer science major, Victoria and Stephanie were nursing students, and Ella is an accounting student, so we were all going to different buildings.
As we were leaving on campus, we didn’t have to walk for long we took a shuttle and I was the first to drop off as I waved goodbye to them.
Someone came into the classroom and I turned to look at who it was and it was a girl that entered with her headphones over her ears; I waved at her, but she simply turned and went to the back. I suppose this is how college works. After a while, the class was full, and the lecturer entered; she was a petite, light-skinned woman who appeared to be the type to assign a lot of homework.
The class began with her distributing the semester's syllabus and giving a brief introduction to herself; her name is Mrs. Kimberly. I had a flashback to high school, when we were all asked to come to the front of the class and introduce ourselves; I'm glad we don't have to do that here.
The rest of the class was dull; I'm not certain why I don't learn much when a woman is teaching. College is quite boring, although I really want to make friends quickly, but no one sat next to me.
“That's all for today, see you all in the next class,” Mrs. Kimberly said, and everyone stood up to leave. All of my other classes flew by, and I made a new friend named Stella, who sat beside me in Geometry. We made eye contact and she seemed nice.
After I finished my classes, everywhere was cold, which was strange because it was actually quite hot in the morning.
Stella told me she also lived in the hostel, so we started walking back to the hostel together, but her dorm room was not in the same building as mine, so we said goodbye, and she left. When I was alone again, I began to consider what I would eat when I got home.
I opened my dorm door with my keys, and when I got inside, I made myself some instant noodles with boiled egg and called PrinceWill; we talked for a while before Stephanie and Victoria arrived. And they were talking about going to a freshers' party.
“Elena! Stephanie jumped on my bed, we're going to the freshmen's party, do you want to join us?
"Of course she's going," Victoria replied. I texted Ella, and she said she was going and was already on her way back.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend. I have some assignments to do, and it's far too early to start going to parties.
Stephanie rests her head on my back; from what I've heard, dorm rooms are terrifying at night. I even heard this hostel had some ghost stories.
“Stop, you're just trying to scare me.
“No, I'm serious. Is it not true, Victoria? I actually heard that as well.” Elena, are you sure you can handle being alone?
I was already scared and looking around when the door began making sounds like someone was attempting to enter. I grabbed Stephanie's hand and the door opened. When Ella came in, I quickly let go of her hands. She began laughing at me.
“Today was stressful ASF, Mehn. She stated as she walked to her bed.
We all said the same thing. So, are we still planning on attending the party? Ella inquired, “Can I start picking out my dress now?”
“We're going, but Elena hasn't made up her mind yet.”
I'm coming with you, I said slowly. Let's go kill the party, Victoria stood up and started twerking! Allow me to show you guys the hot gown I'm going to wear!
She opened the wardrobe and began looking at it, and Stephanie stood up and went to the wardrobe to select an outfit as well.
I rarely wear a party gown, except I wear one of my church gowns or the gown I wore for my graduation, but the gown is just a plain white long sleeve with pleated ends. I remember crying when my mum bought the dress because I wanted one that reached my knees, but she insisted on ankle length.
As I walked to the wardrobe, I took it out. Ella and Victoria began rolling on the floor, I knew they were going to laugh because the dress makes me laugh too.
“You're not wearing that to the party, are you?” Yes, I am, I said.
“But we're going to a college party, and all the hot boys will be there, so you can't come in looking like you came for a church program,” Stephanie explained.
“Wear this instead, Ella handed me a pink gown with a spaghetti hand and is about five inches below my ass.” Okay, I'm exaggerating, but it doesn't even reach my knees and I can't bend down without my ass showing.
No way am I wearing that, it’s cold outside. Do you want me to freeze to death?
“Girl, just put on a jacket over it.” Ella said.
I have a black leather jacket that is like the most expensive thing I own. I decided to put it on, it was quite pretty, since black and pink compliment each other.
After we had chosen our dresses, they began applying full coverage makeup; the only makeup I had was mascara, eyeliner, blush, lip gloss, and lipstick. They tried to persuade me to put on makeup, but I insisted on just lip gloss and mascara.
My hair is perfectly curled against my face, so I insert two hair pins, one on each side, to keep it from falling into my eyes.
Your hair looks so nice, Ella said. Your hair is also nice, I prefer red hair to dirty blond. I said.
Thank you so much, She said, blushing.
“We're all so beautiful,” Stephanie said. I was actually praying for nice, pretty roommates, so I'm glad I met you guys.” She said with a smile.
I did, in fact, say a little prayer before knocking. We all laughed and joked around while they applied their makeup. I had no idea it took so long to finish applying makeup; they haven't finished for nearly an hour.
I opened Snapchat and began taking pictures of them while they were still applying makeup.
“Please don't post it; I'm sure I look like a clown in it," Victoria was literally pleading. I will post it on your birthday, I said jokingly. When they finished making up, it was already past 7 p.m.
We dressed up and took some nice photos. Stephanie takes such beautiful photos that I couldn't even recognize myself in them. I blocked my mother from seeing my status and posted it, I also posted it on my i********:. Then we left the dorm for the party.
