Chapter 7 - My mate

I woke up to the sound of very loud snoring. I felt dizzy and confused as I looked around me and saw the alpha with his head back, mouth wide open and snoring.

It wasn't just a dream, I told myself as another tear formed in my eye.

I looked out the window to try and see where we were, all I could see was mountains and at the bottom of them there was a river running. It looks so pretty and so calm out there I thought. I looked up at the sky but couldn't see the moon or stars, just dark clouds...

I wonder how far away I am from home, I asked myself. Maybe I could just jump out of the car, hope I survive the fall and run back home to my parents. They will protect me, they always have. Those thoughts got my heart pounding, building up adrenaline I looked at the alpha still sound asleep. I took my hand slowly and gripped the door handle but just before I was about to open it and jump, I heard a voice in my head.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you" I looked around confused. That was not my usual own voice. Is there someone else speaking to me? Am I hearing things again? I asked myself. "No you not hearing things, the voice you hear is me, Charles."

"Charles?" I asked inside my head.

"Yes the beta in the front seat and your mate." He said.

"I don't understand, how can you be talking to me and how do I know it's not just my imagination?" I asked rather puzzled.

"Ask me to do something all I'll prove to you that it's not just your imagination." He responded.

"Oky, let go of the steering wheel for a few seconds and use your knees to drive." I said while turning my attention to the front of the vehicle and watching Charles.

"That's quite dangerous but I'll do that for you" He said softly.

Charles lifted up his knees slightly so they could grip the steering wheel and he raised the both of his hands waving them at me before he slowly gripped the steering wheel again.

"Wow, it is really you but how? And why aren't you talking to me with your actual voice?" I asked puzzled.

"If I speak then the alpha will wake up and I can speak to you like this thanks to you been my mate." He said.

"I still don't understand, I've heard of mind links but thought only an alpha can do that" I said confused.

"Alphas can do that but so can mates, you just have to tap into your mates head then you will be capable of even hearing their thoughts" He laughed slightly.

I started blushing when I realized that he could hear my thoughts then I asked him "So you heard my escape plan?"

"Yes I did, every part of it and not a very good idea, you could get seriously hurt and the alpha will have my head when he wakes up and realizes that you are gone." he said with concern in his voice.

"Oh I didn't know, I'm sorry" I said apologizing.

"It's oky there's no need to apologize to me my princess, I know things are a bit messed up now but I want you not to worry, I'm thinking of a plan so that the both of us can escape." He said softly.

"You'll help me escape?" I asked with excitement in my voice as I sat more upright in my seat.

"Yes I will help you escape, what the alpha is doing is not right." He said while cracking his knuckles on the steering wheel.

"Why is he doing this?" I asked.

Charles let out a breath he seemed to be holding for a long time and said "The alpha wants power and there is a prophecy of a white wolf who will give him all the power he needs to rule all the werewolf kingdoms. When he found out about the prophecy, he killed his mate, his little daughter that they had and he went on a mission to find a white wolf and here we are."

"How will I give him that power? I don't have any powers." I said with distress in my voice.

"The prophecy says that if he mates with a white wolf and she has a boy, all her power will be delivered to him" he said.

"And if she has a girl?" I asked.

"I'm not sure" was his response "but I'm going to try and ensure that things don't even reach that point."

"Why don't you just tell the alpha that I am your mate?" I asked.

"The alpha won't care if you have a mate or not, he will just deal with the problem and move on with his plans." he replied.

"I don't want to be his mate" I said with tears flowing down my cheeks.

"I know princess, don't worry, I'll get you out of this, take you somewhere safe and I'll protect you with my life" He said softly.

"My name isn't princess you know" I said blushing actually liking the name that he gave me.

"I know but you are and forever will be my princess." He said quite happily.

"My name is Rose" I responded laughing softly.

His face lit up and responded with "Well its nice to meet you Rose, my princess."

I couldn't help but blush. I had finally met my mate, although we met in the most bizarre of circumstances, somehow I felt at ease, knowing he will help me get out of this in any way possible.

"You should get more sleep, you only slept for about an hour" He said.

"I would rather stay awake and have conversations with you" was my rather cocky response.

"That's sweet of you to say but you do need your rest, you got a long day ahead of you tomorrow." He said almost sounding as strict as my father.

I rolled my eyes and responded "Yes Charles, I'll get some sleep."

"Good, goodnight my sweet princess" He said.

"Goodnight my mate" was my response before I closed my eyes and started drifting off to sleep with the sound of Charles singing to me in my head...
