Until my last howl

Chapter 5 - Meet the alpha

Everybody watched as the beta stood on the stage deadly quiet, as if waiting for silence to completely fall as there were still a few voices giggling.

He seemed very attractive. He was well built, had dark brown, almost black hair and stunning green eyes. Everybody could see his abs protruding out of his tight shirt he was wearing. He started sniffing the air and looked directly at me, our eyes met and I felt a very strange, yet wonderful feeling, even better than having butterflies in your stomach. It was as if I was been called to him. He muttered something that nobody else could hear but by reading his lips, I could swear he said the word "mate"...

Could he be my mate? I thought to myself. Have I found my mate?

"Attention everybody" the beta began to speak. His voice sounded so sweet and so huskily. I caught myself drooling over his voice. "Rose snap out of it" said Max. I quickly regained my thoughts and paid attention once more. "I am beta Charles and I will explain to you how everything is going to work". Oh my word he has such a gorgeous name I thought...

"The alpha will command all of you to shift into your wolf forms and you will do as asked, nobody ever disobeys an alpha. Do I make myself clear?" He said in that huskily voice of his again.

"Yes beta" said everybody from the crowd. I was too gaga over him to even notice.

Beta Charles stepped off the stage right after he said "introducing alpha Andrew".

The alpha slowly stepped up onto the stage and everybody took a bow, except for me, I just stood there staring at him, taking him all in. He was tall, well built, all the typical traits of an alpha. He had pure black hair and extremely dark eyes. His eyes probably turned dark due to all the evil things he does.

There are a lot of rumors going around about his brutality. Some say he keeps humans as pets and to torture them for entertainment. Some say he killed his own parents so that he could claim the throne and there are many other stories about his brutality, including killing his 5 previous mates...

"I am alpha Andrew, although you are never to say my name unless told to do so. You may only call me alpha" he said in an evil sounding voice. "Yes alpha" said everybody still with their heads bowed down.

"Now I am here to look for a mate, if I choose you, consider yourself lucky as you will produce my heir and live in my castle surrounded by luxury". He said in a rather threatening tone.

"Now everybody, shift!" He shouted.

I looked all around me, nobody could go against his command and they all started changing into their wolf forms. All I could hear was bones cracking, groaning and shifting into place. I was surrounded by black, grey, silver, brown, blonde and reddish wolves. I was the only one still standing in my human form.

The alpha saw me and his eyes turned red for a second as he slowly walked off of the stage and headed straight for my direction. Beta Charles was in the background shaking his head no and forming his lips in the shape of no. I could see the worry in his face.

All the other wolves moved out of the way for the alpha bowing their heads as he walked past. I started smelling his alpha scent radiating off of him. He was deliberately making it stronger, forcing it my way.

He stood right infront of me and I could see the worry in everybody's eyes as I looked the alpha directly in his eyes. Not a single fear in my bones.

"Shift!" He commanded. I didn't respond, I just stared at him.

"SHIFT!" His tone got even louder and sounded enraged as his eyes turned red.

I still just stood there and stared at him, his alpha command had no affect on me.

Then he turned around and signaled for his beta to grab one of my parents. His beta put his arm around my mothers throat, ready to snap her neck...

I started panicking and looked at the alpha with worry. Will he really be so cruel? I asked myself.

Once again the alpha looked at me and said "Shift!"...

I didn't have too much of a choice, I didn't want anything to happen to my parents so I started engaging the shift.

My bones snapped and rearranged into place, I let out a small whimper and my entire body started glowing with this bright, white light surrounding me.

Everybody was in awe as the only people who ever saw me shift before were my parents, Max and Lucy. Nobody else knew what color my wolf was...

My wolf started emerging infront of the alpha and met his eyes with my piercing blue eyes. I shook out my beautiful, glowing, long white shiny coat and stood still infront of him. Showing no fear, I stood upright instead of bowing my head in submission.

I looked toward beta Charles and he let my mother go. I let out a low growl to the alpha, ready for a fight...
