Chapter 19 Xavier Tapping my toe impatiently, I gripped the railing of my banister and peered out into the night, straining to see…anything. But there was basically just darkness. “Where the hell are you?” I muttered under my breath. I’d signaled her three times now, and she hadn’t returned to my bedchambers. Maybe she was mad and sulking because I was later getting in tonight than I’d been last night. A squabble between two landowners had held me back. Or maybe she was in trouble. Then again, maybe she just hadn’t seen my light. She could merely be too far away at the moment. Because she was in trouble, something inside me whispered. Dammit. I didn’t have the mark as she did. I couldn’t sense her emotions or know which direction to go to get to her. So how could I possibly know
