Chapter 28 Xavier Thunder rocked the entire castle, shaking it on its foundation. I jarred awake from the fitful sleep I’d been having and lurched upright from the stone wall that had been my bed for the past few hours. Dust and debris rained down from the ceiling of the hallway and snuffed out one of the lighted torches that hung directly over my head. When muted screaming wailed from the other end of the hall, I cursed under my breath and lumbered to my feet She was awake. I had no idea how long it had been since I’d carried her down here, but it felt as if my eyes had just fallen closed. A handful of guards rushed into the hall, so I held up a hand, urging them back. “No! It’s not safe. She’ll kill every last one of you if you go near that cell.” “And she won’t touch you, huh?”
