Chapter 25

3029 Words

Chapter 25 “You’ve been home a week, Job,” Patricia says as she sits on the love seat, and I take the couch. “Why haven’t you opened the door?” She’s talking about the door to my old room. It was closed when I walked in last Wednesday. It’s now Tuesday of the next week, and I’ve yet to see what’s behind it. “I’m not ready,” I tell her. “What do you think you’ll find in there?” “With Sparrow? There’s no telling. That was her space. Everyone leaves their mark on a place if they spend an extended amount of time there. If nothing else, it will still smell like her.” “You care about her, but you don’t want a relationship with her?” Patricia asks. “Aren’t you going to ask me your usual question? Have I found choices I can make that will make my life worth living?” Patricia waves me off.
