Running To The Dead End

From the other side of the wall, there would be a violent tremor every once in a while.
Brother Ji climbed the wooden stairs arching on the wall to the small air window.
“This was bad. They had started attacking the building. ” He said with a shaky voice.
“They were attracted by noise. If we don’t make our move now, there will be more to come,” Xie Feng said urgently.
Guo Tong also finally understands staying here would not do any good. He hurriedly gave orders to move.
“Hurry move all the supplies into the van and move fast. ”
The violent bashing on the door continued non-stop as there was no sign of stopping it.
Xie Feng helped to move necessary items into cars and vans storage.
In half an hour all things were stored inside the vehicles.
Thanks to prior arrangements food and water had been already packed yesterday which reduce the time for everything set up.
“I don’t want to leave. They will kill us,” a lady called out loudly.
Her eyes were red due to crying.
Not only her majority of the people don’t want to leave.
They keep shaking their heads and stepping backward. Since when they had experienced these extreme life and death situations. They were citizens of a well-developed state, there were hardly any problems in living a quality life.
Xie Feng knew their decision was solely based on fear and false hope in someone will come to save them.
“Soon they will enter the building. No matter where you hide they would found you with their cursed sense of smell. Even you somehow managed to protect yourself by locking somewhere. For how long could you sustain. Hunger and panic would kill you slowly and that kind of death was not something I assumed anyone present here wanted to faced. ”
This time Guo Tong raised his voiced to spoke out as a leader. Everyone stopped moving to heard his words.
There were still hesitations in minds of people.
“This was your life. You can make your own decision but remember what’s the point of living in constant fear if you don’t even have the courage to fight for survival,” Xie Feng said.
He wants them to fight for their life. Even if there was a low possibility. It was better to fight than living in terror.
There was silence after Xie Feng spoke.
After a minute people started moving to the vehicles.
“Haha, that’s right. We were gonna crush them. ” Guo Tong said laughingly. There is hope.
“There was a problem. There should be at least one person to rotate the handle to open the door,” Huo Jiang shouted.
“I will do it.” Xie Feng stepped to the door side.
“y-you but how-”
“No need to speak further. Let me open the gate. Just go and get ready to move.” Xie Feng cut Hao Jiang in middle.
Time was the essence. There was no need to quarrel about who would open the door. Even if some zombies came after him he would kill them since he had confidence in his strength.
After everyone was set in their vehicles. Guo tong looked at Xie Feng.

With a rusty parts sound, the door moved upward. Dark rays of the darkest sun shine on the slide pavements.
With loud noises, zombies appeared in the front. A smell of rotting flesh filled the area in seconds.
“Move”
Guo Tong stepped on peddle with full force. The engine growled and the car ran straight at the upcoming horde.
Xie Feng kicked the upcoming zombie in the chest. His raw strength in his leg made it crash on others following it.
He jumped at the Guo Tong car and balanced himself on the roof.
“This crazy” Guo Tong cursed under his breath seeing Xie Feng’s rash movement.
Whenever zombies tried to come near the car, Xie Feng pushed them aside with a kick. Soon they hit the road leaving crushed corpses behind.
During the red rain infection, most of the people became zombies which lead to the whole area being in chaos. People were running for their lives and left anything with no worth behind. The vehicles was one of those items.
Those ownerless vehicles stayed on road. It didn’t come into his mind at the time of forming a plan in haste. But it did not matter even if they thought about it beforehand.
There was no other way of traveling from between the horde of zombies.
They had to crushed everything which was blocking their way.
The engine roared and race straight on the street.
Countless zombies were crushed under the raging car. Their blood started smeared on the vehicle’s body. The windshield was becoming less and less visible due to it.
The worse possibility had happened. The cars were suddenly stopped after moving a few hundred meters.
The tires had been stuck under the corpses.
Guo Tong tried to reverse the car to make a turn but it failed due to corpses piled up on the road.
“The cars had been tucked. Run as fast you can.” Guo tong reminder didn’t work as people were in a state of shock stayed inside the vehicles.
After seeing this Xie Feng jumped on the ground and pulled the petrified people from the backed of the van.
His violent jolt woke them up to reality and start running.
Those who were still half shocked had fallen behind.
Alas, that was the worse moment to fall. Zombies rushed after them like they were waiting for this specific time.
The despair in their eyes was the last thing Xie Feng saw before their whole body devoured by tens of undead.
Everything happened so fast that nobody could think what to do.
Brother ji’s shoulder had been bitten and his condition was not good to run anymore. Guo Tong tried to came to him but zombies were already stepped fast and already had blocked Brother Ji.
The same happened with Dong Lin. He was slipped behind due to blood on road. In just a few seconds his body was surrounded by tens of zombies.
Guo Tong regretfully backed up seeing this scene and tried to helped other survivors breaking through the siege under the cover of vehicles.
Xie Feng rolled over the ground evading the dark claw attacking his behind. Without looking back he gave his axe a full swing. The blade cut the zombie neck with a clanking sound of bone-shattering.
Another three move their hands to grab his lower body. Xie Feng kicked the one on its head and chopped the others same with a fast swing.
He saw the nearby all zombie’s attention was fallen on him.
He gave himself a self-depreciated laugh and attacked them with all he had.
He could not run now as there were hundreds of them surrounding him from all directions.
Xie Feng saw black threads floating around him and slowly entering his physique. The cooling heating effect giving him an itching sensation. He moves his limbs more and more fast.
He could sense his strength had been increasing the more he killed. The raging power behind his punches and kicks directly destroys the zombies’ bones.
In just a minute he had slain around 50 of them.
Next, Xie Feng didn’t know how many he had killed. He was standing on the small corpses hill with many other falls surrounded him.

His blood was boiling. He could felt the great sensation of adrenaline rushing in his veins.
His clothes were already soaked with rotting flesh and organs. His face had a layer of crimson blood.

The black threads were increasing making a whirlpool taking him as middle. Xie Feng couldn’t care what was happening in his surrounding. The only thing was in his mind at the time was just to kill these undead creatures who were madly roaring at him.
Time passed minute by minute.
Suddenly he jolted back. He found his physique on the verge of falling apart. His every muscle was burning giving him great pain.
He resisted the pain to lift the last of the child zombie with his hand and threw it on others. He threw his axe, shattering the skull of one, and broke the other neck from its torso.
‘everyone dead?’
He found himself standing on a small hill of corpses reeking of blood and gores. His jacket was torn apart and there were many deep scratches on his torso. His red warm blood could saw on them mixed with the cold blood of zombies.
Next, he saw countless black threads circling him liked a silent wind. They were slowly entering inside him through his wounds.
‘What happened to me!?’
Somehow when he starts killing, he forgot everything happening around him.
His clothes were sullen from all the innard’s filth of zombies.
Xie Feng puts his hand on his heart, the thunderous beating of it scares him.
Roar
He could hear more zombies were coming his way.
‘I had to left this place’
Xie Feng follows the street on his left. He remembers the way other survivors ran.

At the end of the same street, three figures were running with all their might.
“Quick, we could took covered at that building.” Guo Tong said running on the road filled with water holes. He tried his best to avoid not stepped on the water as it was red liked blood that had been felled straight from heaven.
His eyes were looking at the three-storey building with a broken front. Its entrance was blocked by debris of concrete. They could climb on it to reach a higher floor.
“They were still chasing after us,” Hao Jiang keeps looking at his behind from time to time to saw zombies madly chasing them.
“I can’t run anymore. ” A woman following them said huffing his breath. She was one of the lucky ones who successfully save herself from the previous siege.
“We just reach it Fang Xin” Guo Tong clenched his teeth and keep his eyes on fallen concrete blocks.
Finally when they reached the building. They found the area at the front was filled with red water and electric cables were floating opposite to the building.
They ignored it as getting rid of zombies was more important.
Guo Tong was the first to climb on the debris, following by Hao Jiang.
Fang Xin was a little late when she set her footing on a fallen pillar to pushed herself up. A shriveled handed grabbed her right shoe wanting to pull her down.
Next, a savage blue face filled with wrinkles and disgusting saliva dripping from his dirty mouth appeared near her.
“aahhhhh…”
She closed her eyes as if accepting her fate.
Crack Puchi
The scene which he was predicting didn’t happen instead a sound of breaking and splashing came.
Fang Xin felt a cold sensation on her face with an accompanying rotten smell.
She opened her eyes and saw the zombie who was closed to him dropped on the ground. There was a large hole on the side of his brain. She saw something liked a stone stuck inside.
“Pull her up!”
A loud voice attracted the trio's attention and saw a bloody man running their way. His whole body was covered with dead body filth and his upper dressing was torn apart. With one hand on his chest, he was coming at them.
“Xie Feng! you are alive!” Guo Tong identified the voice and called out.
Hao Jiang hurriedly threw a big rock picking from his side to the next zombie trying to grab Fang Xin and lifted her from the ground helping her climbed to the second floor.
Xie Feng didn’t answer him. After seeing Fang Xin safely climbed her way. He picked up some pebbles from the ground and threw them at the remaining zombies. One by one they fell down with a hole in their skull.
“This-”
Seeing the scene the trio was shocked beyond belief.
Xie Feng feels his strength was leaving his body. His mind was suffering from headache which was affecting his thinking.
Roar
He looked backed and saw more zombies were coming.
The broken cable lines which were hanging on the wall attracted his attention. He recalled the situation at the contribution ground.
Zzzz
Xie Feng used his last bit of strength to jumped and pull the cable lines with him. The electric discharge sound could be heard from the cable ends.
“Xie Feng hurry, Come up. ”
Hao Jiang’s voice came from above.
At the same moment, the distance between Xie Feng and zombies was shortening in no time.
When he saw them stepping on water, Xie Feng threw the cables into the water.
