Seeing the angry faces of people the group was panicked a little. It a better to say they were afraid of Xie Feng. These hot-blooded people think they could easily manipulate the zombies just by knowing their weaknesses. Xie Feng in his mind seeing their little guilty faces. But their rebellious faint look can’t hide from his eyes. “In the end times, it takes extreme calculations with caution to survive and fight for life and resources to live.” “Just because you are able to do something down means you can really do it in a practical way.” Xie Fend said with a calm look. Even if he was angry at their foolishness. One can’t deny they had the courage to move outside and lure the zombies. At the start, even adults like Guo Tong and others didn’t dare to go outside to search for food and water. “We just wanted to help our base to survive.” The tall man in coat said in low voice. “So we are.” Xie Feng said clearly. “Wait you said you belong to a base.” Xie Feng was shocked a little that people had already started building base. But found it reasonable as it’s very important to be in unity. “It’s not proper just different groups had mixed together to survive.” “Still it’s a good thing that you people are willing to help each other for survival.” “We wanted to help but not everyone in the base wants to do the work.” Another person with short height said with bitterness. After he said those words Xie Feng saw the anger on all of the faces. ‘It seems like there’s a story behind them coming outside.’ Before Fang Xin asked about the reason for their anger in curiosity Xie Feng talked again. “Ohh how many of you are there?” “Fifty-seven, including us.” Xie Feng nodded. People were grouping themselves to survive and trying to live every day in fear of being dead any time. Some people can’t cope up with the drastic enhancements mentally and there were already more than ten people who had committed suicide in our base. In the end time, everyone had to watch their own back. Even if you were in a group or any place there will be a constant threat present to be in danger. At the time of life and death moment, their group members will choose to help themselves first. People are selfish and concerning such situations, they will more think about their safety and well-being first. Xie Feng understands this point very well. He had started mixing in society after completing high school. Due to their poor financial condition, Xie Feng chose to work for his family, his brother, and can only afford to pay his tuition fees. Xie Feng could only hope in his head to keep his brother safe until he found him. He knows his brother is mentally strong and could keep his head clear in the face of disaster. But the sudden experience could make the sanest person lose his insanity. “Forget it, Xie Feng said sighing, “Since you acknowledge your mistake, you can go now.” Hearing Xie Feng the group looked at each other. They were in a hopeless situation right now. How could they return back? They were just saved from the dead end. “We have come too far.” The short person said. “If I remembered correctly, the community center is in the eastern district right.” Fang Xin said frowning. They were in the western district right now. The community center is at least seven km away from there. How come they traveled here from between the blocked streets and roads. “Our destination at first was not here. We want to make zombies go to the riverside.” “We use the abandoned bikes on roads to come here. Unfortunately, most of the vehicles had become the useless cause of bad weather and soaking in rain.” “We had to search for a long time to get a hand on clean vehicles. This point Xie Feng understands. He had seen people corpses in vehicles. They were stained in gore and blood. If possible Xie Feng didn’t want to travel inside one of those vehicles. You could imagine in what state they were in after so many days of being dead. They smell worse than any other disgusting thing he had seen. “Now where are they, I didn’t see them when I came to save you.” “When we were escaping from the zombies, due to the bad road condition we had an accident and all of our bikes were damaged. Thankfully we only suffer minor injuries.” Their base is in the eastern region. This means there will be many tall buildings present in that area. “Since you guys can’t go on your own. I will accompany you.” Listening to this everyone present in the room was dumbfounded. “I want to see your base situation. If possible It will be better to stay together.” Xie Feng said looking at the crown in the room. “We had to change places again.” Hao Jiang said in a bitter voice. “Yeah, You should understand no place is safe for us now.” Xie Feng continued, “Staying together we could at least feel much safer rather than in a small group. We will have more people to help us at a critical time.” Honestly, Xie Feng doesn’t believe in his own statement. In critical times if we were able to save at least our lives. That will be worth it rather than trying to save everyone. He clearly remembered how everyone had run for their lives on the construction site and when they move from the parking lot. Only four of them had survived through the whole group. When they were talking a confused voice came from outside the room. They saw a man looking at his surroundings holding his hands in front of his chest. Hu Yan appeared confused and scared. He looked around the room filled with unfamiliar people. His eyes stopped at one figure sitting calmly at the corner with a short sword at his lap. “It’s you,” he cried out loudly, “Don’t kill me.” Seeing his sudden reaction his friends blocked his way to run. “Hey, Hu Yan he is our savior. You don’t have to worry.” “No—No You don’t understand, He will kill me.” Hu Yan shouted loudly wanting to free from his friend’s circle. “It’s fine now.” Xie Feng stood up from his seat before coming to the Hu Yan. “Don’t come near-” Before Hu Yan finished speaking a slap hit him hard on the face. “Stop overreacting,” Xie Feng said coldly, “If I found you speaking again you will be throw to zombies for their dinner. Hu Yan falls on the floor with a thud. He opened his mouth to shot again but stopped in midway as he heard Xie Feng threaten him. “You guys go and take rest for tonight.” Xie Feng concluded today’s talk and went outside. Seeing him taking the leave, one by one other also left to their places to sleep. … Next morning. Xie Feng carries himself a small bag. There are two water bottles and three canned beans present inside it. He only takes a small portion of their food and leaves the rest with them “You guys stayed inside the house,” Xie Feng told Guo Tong and others, “There should be enough food present to live for a whole month.” “When will you come?” Guo Tong asked hesitantly. Answering him Xie Feng smiled, “I don’t know, but I will try to return in three days.” “Okay, Take care.” Guo Tong said half-smiling. If possible he didn’t want Xie Feng to go. Living with him, they got a sense of safety amidst crisis. But they can’t control him and saw they had no right to stop his actions. Accompanying them to their base was not the primary goal for him. He had long thought of going to the eastern city district for his escape from this city. “Let’s Go,” Xie Feng said to them. The weather today is no different from yesterday. Dark rays shining from the black sun. Red clouds moving throughout the horizon. There is an acidic taste of metallic blood that moves with the blowing hot air. “Right now,” The man in a long coat said hesitantly, “Can’t we move in the dark, Zombies have poor vision. They will not be able to us.” Hearing this his whole group was also nodding in agreement. Xie Feng looked at them like seeing a bunch of idiots. “They had a poor sense of vision that’s why we had to move in the daytime. During the sunset their ability to smell dead from alive increases significantly.” Xie Feng told them about the hidden ability of zombies. AS expected all of their faces became dumbfounded knowing this. “Thi-This We didn’t know that.” “Now that you know let’s move fast,” Xie Feng look at the time through watch in his hand, “If we move now it’s possible to reach your base before sunset.” Xie Feng waited for them to eat something to get energy during their journey. Their group left the house after having a simple breakfast.
