Alain Dupont grabbed his armrests right after the captain announced they were the next to take off. The plane had been taxiing to the runway for about ten minutes. Dupont"s heart raced each time the plane stopped, only to relax when the plane started moving again. Dupont’s armpits were damp, and he hoped his deodorant would hold up with all his being. He realized he had been clenching his jaw for several minutes now and attempted to relax his jaw muscles. Because if he kept clenching them so tightly, his teeth might shatter from the pressure. Alain had read somewhere that the human jaw was as strong as a gorilla’s but that their teeth could not withstand the pressure without eventually disintegrating. He had read that humans had a biting capacity of about sixty kilograms per cubic centime
