Prologue
"You're it." I slapped my dad's back as I giggled and ran around when dad howled playfully at me as he sprinted.
The crispy wind soothed my face as my dad got me and twirled me around.
"I got you, son," he cheered. I laughed as we went for round two around the forests of our pack. Dad was almost going to get me with his human speed as I boyishly squealed and closed my eyes.
Silence. Dead silence.
"Dad?" I called out with closed eyes.
Silence hung deep in the air as I opened my eyes only to widen them further.
Dad was in mid-air with an equally surprised expression on his face, I looked around me at the spaced fields but never found the source of the doer.
"Your powers are improving." My dad breathed out in amazement. I frowned confusingly at him before taking a look at my hands that were glowing a yellowish light.
Was I deeply confused as my dad smiled in...pride? I furrowed my eyebrows at him, what was so happy about hanging amidst the wind?
"You need to get me down first." Dad knew what were the questions in my head due to mind link, his gold-colored eyes lingered on mine in pride as howls emitted from the pack members when dad announced that my powers came out to play.
Apparently, it was a good thing for the pack to know about their safety that was in my hands now. For me, it was quite overwhelming actually, I never knew that I had "powers" until dad was grinning like a wild man in the air.
"But how?" I asked. I tried everything; thought about getting him down, tried to move my hands awkwardly and closed my eyes tightly shut.
My dad, Alpha Jackson, told me to delve deeper into my powers in my head so I took a deep breath, exhaled and stared at dad as my eyes changed to a deep shade of silver.
I literally dropped my dad to the ground and he groaned since he was a pretty old man, he stood up and neared me with the same creepy smile.
"How can it be?" He appeared thoughtful as he rubbed his jaw with his right hand, "you're only fifteen."
"You are supposed to inform me about this-whatever I have," I exclaimed.
As a little kid, I always remembered mom's face when she told me how much she loved me and cradled me in her arms. She knew about my powers but I could only remember that much, I was not feeling comfortable with Kacey, my new father's mate, she kept on giving me death stares and locked my door at night.
She thought I didn't know but I did. I knew it from the moment when I woke up at 2 am and heard the clink! sound of the key.
Dad & I went for a run back to our mansion for answers about my powers. Dad had already called the doctor for a checkup in which he thought it was so necessary before we know anything about my powers. He forgot about my mom and how I got my powers, for him it was the first time he witnessed my powers developing whereas I remembered every single detail. It was another mystery I had to unravel.
"So," the pack doctor, Dr. Jones, continued. "We have done some instant analysis for your condition." He stated with tired brown-colored eyes. Almost every assigned pack member had suffered from fatigue due to overworking including myself.
"And?" I urged him. I felt very impatient because I had other duties to tend to as the Alpha-in-line.
"And your father is right, your powers have developed further but you'll have to train how to control them or it might lead people to death," He informed me, "your powers were handed to you by the Moon Goddess as a gift, be careful about who to show it to." He patted my back and went back to his lab, I had no clue on how to not overuse my power but I was going to find out or my pack would be in danger because of me.
We thanked him as dad and I went to see my other siblings and step-mom. I found it really odd how dad doesn't remember about the slightest memory of mom which hurts me because every time I tried to ask him since I was fourteen years old, he would just stare blankly at me.
Disgust couldn't come close to how I felt towards Kacey and I had a very bad feeling towards her. Granted, I gave her a hard time but she would always try to hurt me behind her mate's back.
That and I also had a feeling that she knew about my mother's suicide to protect me yet she used that to her full advantage.
That conniving monster.
On the brighter side, I had amazing siblings. Destalia, the eight-year-old, was the only sister we had and she was named after my mom without them knowing, I suggested that and the Alpha liked it.
Blake was the second smallest after my sister, he was rough for a nine-year-old pup and he looked up to dad so much that he even joins in training but only when his mother agrees.
There was Jaden, he was ten years old, he was the quietest sibling between all of us and he was a smart thinker but weak in training because his specialty concentrates on power tactics.
Not to mention, the triple trouble twins, Andy and Danny and Xavier, they were eleven years old and they were the most known troublemakers even within werewolf royal packs with their identical features and gray eyes filled with mischief.
Gregg and Luca were twelve years old with talented postures that belonged to a defense team and they were among the skillful trainers for the pack warriors.
Samuel was thirteen years old with enormous analytical skills inside that calculative head of his, he even helped dad often with the budgets and whatnot.
Last but not least, my fourteen-year-old brother who was named Zander was a social advocate who motivated trainers and warriors by his fascinating public speaking skills.
And then there was me, the boy with superpowers. I was their eldest and the next in line Alpha, I had major responsibilities and I just had been pressurized by dad often but I was glad that I got to protect my family.
I could only hope my step-family, the ones except for dad could protect me back.
