Chapter six

1135 Words
Kara's pov. A patting hand shakes me awoke me from my sleep. It was gentle and cold. When I regain my consciousness, I quickly bolt up from the bed and turn on the bedside lamp since the room is dark due to the moonless night.  My cowering figure relaxes as I see it's Mr Seth and I regain a much more comfortable position.  "Mr. Seth." "Hi, Kara." He responds immediately, his voice gentle. He is talking in a low tone. My face squeezes up, as a lump forms in my throat, making me gulp down the tears that wants to surface my eyes. I sniffle, and look down, my tongue outside my mouth, helping to water my lips.  "How are you, Mr. Seth?" I blink up at him, and he gives me a don't-give-me-that-look look.  "I'm a Vampire. That question doesn't really fit." The way he says those words really isn't meant to be funny-taken, but I find myself chortling.  I haven't seen him since the day I left with Mai. Maybe if I had stayed, and not have all those fun, I would still be under his shelter, receiving more lectures and would have seen his magnificent bending. Though it was fun being with Mai, but then again, she really would have left me all to myself that night assuming king Andrew hadn't came to my rescue.  You know what? I ask my subconscious. What really pains me in all this is that everything that's happened is because of me. I am at fault. Mr. Seth told me that it was foolish of me to want to stop Andrew's beast, but I didn't listen. I thought that that night I should be able to calm him. He was so fragile that night, so ready to want light, so ready to accept good. But something must have changed him. I think I have to know what caused it. But that could only happen after he's back here.  "Yeah, you're right."  His tongue makes a smacking sound with the inside of his maxillae. "So, how are you?" "I'm fine." "Sorry I had to come up here at this time." He apologizes, but quickly, I assure him, saying. "No, it's okay. You can control your beast, so I'm calmed." I thought it was someone else earlier, that explains why I bolted up. I see the crimson redness in Mr. Seth's eyes, indicating his monster that wants free. "Mai's left. I don't know when." Mr Seth says. Yeah, give it to Mai to leave without letting anyone know.  Mr Seth's head is down, so I ask, "Is something bothering you?"  He looks up to make contact with my eyes, then he shakes his head. "It's Andrew. He's changed." Now, it's my turn to look down. "You don't have to." I perk up at Mr Seth, giving him an unknowing eye, before I realize what he means. The mark at the left side of my neck, close to my shoulder blade is visible to his Vampiric eyes.  "He did this to you." He says, but I have my gut telling me that he not only mean the mark, but something else. I want to ask, but stop when he continues. "He's became what we fear, what himself feared. This is why he never wanted to accept you into the castle in the first place. He knows that once you're hurt within his perimeter, he could gone mad. I think he has." Mr Seth's words are carefully picked. His fingers chuck the bed, a little more pressure and he can start tearing the sheets. "What do you mean?" I ask, fazed. When was I injured? Well, apart from when he bit me. Wait, it's all starting to make sense. Mai told me something that morning when I woke up to find her beside my bed, mentioning that I was hurt or something. And I remember the way Mr Seth had spoken when he joined us in the dining room, right before the fight began. I could have known it all that day, but being that I was too occupied with knowing the town, I didn't think it through. And Andrew told me that I've drank his blood twice, one for when I was hurt, and second for when I died. They all tried to tell me things, to make me know, but why didn't I ask fully? He told me that I died. I d-i-e-d! Mr Seth reads my mind. "Yes, you did." He gives me a nod. "It was when The First Men attacked. Andrew made you forget about it when he went into your mind and see that it's causing you nightmares, injurious to your healing. You drank a quarter-filled cup of his blood. There's a bond now between the both of you, you will have to find that out. From here, through this part of the said bond, I have a plan to bring our good Andrew back."  I quickly chime in before Mr Seth continues. "Why did he change to bad?" "Because you were hurt. He thought that he'd punish the remainings of The First Men, but when he couldn't find them, his tamed anger, which he's been suppressing for too long overwhelms him, clouding his positive reasoning. He changed finally, accepting the beast." I don't need anyone telling me that Andrew has just made a very, very, cruel choice that can make everything collapse. He's the intermediary for all the supernaturals since he has all the three parts of the three species — Vampires, Werewolves, and Gypsys. And now that he's gone evil, things will fall apart, and become hopeless. "What do we do?" My eyes flares at Mr Seth, showing the dread in it.  "Nothing for now. Andrew, going to the fifth Kingdom is not for anything good. Whatever evil reasons he's gone there to align with Lin is for the creation of another evil, they could both plan something we'll all regret. So, I will try to get us from here to the fifth Kingdom, and stop him. You would do much of the job, though." Mr Seth's palm lies on the back of my hand, making me look down to it, then to his face.  I am puzzled. "why would I?" "You'll learn. I need you to read on a chapter, I titled it; The Blood, The Bond, and The Black day." I make a mental note of that.  Nodding my head, I mention. "Agreed." Mr Seth leans closer and kisses me on my forehead. I close my eyes while he does and when he pulls back, I smile at him. He sighs, and stands, heading for the door.  "Go back to sleep, Kara. The journey ahead of us will be tiring." He laughs and I do the same, and he leaves.
