Analisa's POV
"You may have her now, cousin, but everyone in this room knows you do not value her. There are other guys willing to do what you are not capable of. Remember that when someone snatches her from you because you messed up," Austin says in a hateful tone.
What the heck is wrong with him? "Austin, why would you say that?" I asked him. He smiled at me. "One day soon you will see. By the way, nice touch on having your assistant look better than your own boyfriend." He moves closer, scowls at Declan and reaches out and touches my bottom lip with his pointer finger while sighing.
"Eww, please tell me your hand is clean." He laughed as if I had just told him a joke. "Oh gorgeous, the cleanliness of my hand is the last of your worries. I will never touch you when I am dirty. I can't say the same for your lover boy here." I moved from Declan's embrace and put my hand on Austin's shoulder and whispered in his ear. "Austin, I am happy you have changed since you turned 17 and finally stopped stuttering around me, but you can't go around saying things like that. It will start gossip and I have an image to uphold. If you have something negative to say, then say it in private. Do you understand?" I gave his shoulder a squeeze and looked into his eyes. He swallows hard and nods. "Good glad that we cleared that up. Oh and next time you want to coordinate outfits let me know first, because, this is rather embarrassing. It looks like a competition about who matches best with me. Like you said yourself, I chose my assistant's outfit so, naturally, he does, but if your cousin had used gold instead of silver he would have."
'Hello everyone if you could all take your seats so we can start the bidding.' I sighed and went to take my seat, pulling Ryan down with me so I could confirm that he knew what to do. He agrees and gets ready. My father leans over Declan and tells me, "I forgot to mention there is a bidding portion for a date with a celebrity and you are that celebrity." I took a deep breath. "Father, I really wish you would take my feelings into consideration, as well as my boyfriends' before doing things like this." He scoffs "You are my daughter and if, he wants to remain as your boyfriend he better dig deep in those pockets of his." Of course my father does not give a s**t. I look at my godparents and give them a pleading look, but they just give me an apologetic look.
I look at Declan and he looks nervous as he is texting on his phone. I know he has his own money from doing some jobs, but I know he does not have that much to compete with the billionaires in the room.
I feel bad, but at the same time I feel nervously sick to my stomach. I hope no old pervert wins the bid.
The bid is about to start but Declan walks off to make a call. He looks pissed. I hope he makes it back on time. I leaned towards Ryan and anxiously whispered to "Ryan, you must win the bid for the date with me if Declan does not make it back on time. I will pay just make sure you win." He nods. Then the MC spoke. "It is time for the bidding of the date with the celebrity. I hope you all have checkbooks ready because the celebrity is Analisa Love. Please join me on stage, Analisa." My father gave me a stern look and I stood up and walked to stand next to the MC.
I stand there trying to find Declan, hoping he made it back, but he is nowhere in sight. I can't believe this. "Let's start the bidding with 50,000." Soon the bid is up to 1 million and I am irritated because Austin is the other main bidder and no one seems to want to go against him because his father is a prominent figure in this state. I did not want to spend more than a million so I leaned toward the MC and suggested a tie between the two bidders. He was hesitant but I told him it would be combined, so instead of 1 million it would be 2 and he agreed right away. "Analisa just gave me a suggestion and I wanted to see if the 2 bidders would agree to a tie and each willingly pay the 1 million." Ryan agreed immediately, and Austin smirks but agrees.
I finally got off the stage and made my way to Ryan and whispered "Find out who backed Austin. There is no f*****g way he has that much money. There is no way he made that much from the jobs he has taken and I highly doubt his parents would pay for him to have a date with me." I am pissed because my own boyfriend is nowhere to be found and his cousin just almost solely won the f*****g bid. At this point, I am wondering if Declan even gives a s**t that he just proved my father right.
I made my way over to Austin. "Nice bidding. My assistant will text you the details of the date." I walked off without waiting for a response and looked for Declan, only to see he was talking to another girl. I scoff and this just pisses me off even more. I have a date with his cousin and I just paid to be able to take my assistant on the date, un-f*****g-believable. I am not one to make a scene, but f**k it, I am pissed. I walked over and heard her ask, "So, do you have a girlfriend?" I waited for him to respond but I saw him blush and slightly nod. Is he serious right now? Why is he acting shy? I say, "Not for long. He just gave her away while he was over here flirting with you." He whips his head in my direction and starts to move towards me but I hold up my hand. "Declan, I see you chose yet another girl was more important than winning a bid for a date with your girlfriend to protect her from all those other men. Congrats on giving me to your cousin by the way. Every time I need you, you choose another girl and I am done. My father was right." The girl looked embarrassed and nervous. Declan tries to touch me but I back up. He looks at me sadly.
"Please, my love, I am sorry I was on the phone with the bank at first but she approached me and I did not want to be rude." I laughed dryly. "Then by all means have your f*****g conversation while you lose your girlfriend to another guy, we are done. I told you to break up with me if you wanted another girl and you swore you would never because you love me, but your actions have told me differently. Goodbye Declan." I walked out of the venue as I held back my tears. I do not have time to feel sadness or pity for myself. I know this was a setup to test Declan and he failed. The sad part is, I did not know who would want to see me heartbroken.
I sent a group text to Ryan, my godparents and my parents. 'My apologies. I had to leave. I am not feeling well. See you all tomorrow.'
I then sent a separate text to Ryan. 'Ryan, please set up the date. Let me know when and where and make sure to give Austin the details as well, please. Thank you. Have a great rest of the night. I have already paid for all our winning bids. Thanks again.' I got an immediate response from him. 'Okay, will do. Thank you and hope you feel better. See you tomorrow.'
I got into my car and got my driver to take me to my penthouse.
I walked into my penthouse and closed the door. I lean against the door holding back my tears or frustration and disappointment when someone knocks on my door. I looked through the peephole and saw my brother. How did he know I was here? No one knows where my penthouse is. I open the door and he embraces me and I break down in his arms. I cried out "How did you find me?" "I saw everything that happened and followed you. I hope you don't mind you looked like you could use a brotherly hug." "I could have used way more than one brotherly hug over the years." "I know I am sorry sis. I am here now." "You will leave me again when you go back to school." "Well, I graduated last week. I attended the charity event as my last hurrah. I am currently looking for a place to stay." "Why do I feel like you are indirectly asking me to let you stay here at my penthouse?" He laughs. "Brother, you make it obvious." "I will pay rent." "Alright."
I always give in to my family. I hope this does not come back to bite me one day. I gently wipe my tear-streaked face and pull out my compact mirror to check how I look. Thank goodness for waterproof make-up.
I show my brother to the guestroom while I go to my room, the master room, of course. My phone has been ringing nonstop so I put it on silent and watch it ring all night.
I get up at 4am to start my daily schedule. I am so tired, but I could not sleep at all and evidently neither could the caller. I go for my run and call my figure skating coach and tell her I will not be there today because I am unwell. I am glad she did not fight me about it. I would think she wants a day off too, since she is with me every single day. I got myself ready for today and made a call. "Hello, I need a favor. I need you to find out who tested Declan and get details on the girls as well. I need you to find out everything in the next few days along with Austin's sponsor." I hung up the call after I got the confirmation. I am starting to hate people interfering in my life.
I go into the kitchen and make breakfast for the first time in forever. I may not come here often, but I do have staff who maintain the place as well as keeping everything stocked and up to date. I set my plate down when my brother, who still looked sleepy, strolled in. "Where is mine?" He said, yawning loudly. I motioned to the microwave. He gets the plate out and starts eating before he even sits down. "Did they not teach manners at that boarding school? Sit down and eat." He does as he is told but looks at me confused. "Why the f**k are you so early?" I look at him dumbly. "I am scheduled to wake up and start my day at 4am everyday." He gives me a disgusted look. "That is too early I normally wake up at 8am because class started at 9am." "Pfft, well, I was not lucky to have a schedule like that. When you left, our parents became way more strict and scheduled everything for me from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep and everything inbetween."
"Well, s**t that sucks. We were only 8 years old. Why did they push you so hard?" "Why did you want to leave at 8 years old?" "Because they had us doing photoshoots left and right on top of private tutors. It was too much for me." "And what? It wasn't for me? I had more photoshoots than you and private tutors for school as well as learning different languages on top of acting school and small acting gigs. It got worse when you left because they were trying to compensate for the son that refused to do as he was told." I tilted my head in his direction and continued. "When they agreed to let you go to boarding school, it was the day they officially gave up parenting and became my managers. The day you left and did not look back, was the last day they cared to be around and they distanced themselves from me. So I not only lost my twin brother, the other half of my soul, I lost my parents too."
I waited for his response but he just remained silent.
I got up and left the penthouse. I checked the time and it was finally 7am. I pulled my phone out and called Ryan, who picked up on the first ring. 'Hello Ryan, I am going to be picking you up today, please be ready. I will arrive in 30 minutes.' 'Okay Analisa.' I hung up and debated if I wanted to check my messages. I decide not to. I do not feel like calling anyone else. I hate having to start the conversation every time, no matter who calls first. I guess it is because I am always busy. They probably want to make sure they have my attention before they speak.
