Chapter 25
Megan felt someone grab her by the waist and swing her out of the way of the shed. Looking up, she found herself in Aiden’s arms. In that instant, she lost the adrenaline rush and sagged with relief. As he held her, Megan saw men coming out of every building, ready to confront the killer.
“There’s no one in there with him, is there?”
Laughing with relief, Aiden assured her the shed was empty and Zucker was alone.
“Leave it to you to pick the one building where we couldn’t hide anyone.”
“Not me. Did you see JoJo in action? And the dogs? They were so brave.”
“Yes, we saw the whole thing. Why did you run after him? You knew we were here.”
“I’m sorry. All I could think about was the danger to the animals. It was a knee-jerk reaction.”
