RAFFERTY INSISTED ON Llewellyn handing the car keys over for the return journey. No way was he going through a repeat performance of the journey here. His blood pressure wouldn’t stand it. When they got back to Elmhurst, Rafferty drove straight to Emre Balik’s house. He was keen to speak to the over-sized landlord again before he tried Carlton’s bell.
