Nicolas buried his head in his hands, slowly, he walked up to his parents and sat down.
He quietly filled his cup, he took the cup to his mouth but then he hesitated and dropped the cup.
"20 percent!"
He took a deep breath and exclaimed. His reaction drew the attention of his parents.
His father diverted his attention from the food to Nicolas.
"Hmph, you sad now huh, becoming the Alpha isn't something you wish for, you must work for it. This is your last opportunity, I hope you grab it" Nicolas' father said.
"Oh, you call this an opportunity father, this is a straight downfall, I'll just withdraw!" Nicolas responded sharply.
"Withdraw? Hmph, Who put you in the contest?" Nicolas' father asked
"You did"
Nicolas shifted his gaze to the food, avoiding eye contact with his father.
"I will be the one to say whether you withdraw or not, you understand?" With a stern voice, Nicolas' father asked him.
"That is what I'm saying, it was never my choice to contest for Alpha so don't blame me if I'm not strong enough " Nicolas refuted, it was clear from his expression that he was forced to the state he is.
"Haha, of course I won't blame you. In fact, I won't let you find a mate either, I'll scout and find a strong mate for you, you must be the Alpha " Nicolas' father said with a threatening voice
"What!, You will matchmake me with a female wolf, mate matchmaking is against the rule of the academy father. " Nicolas complained.
"Haha, it's not matchmaking, I'll find you a mate but you will have to make her love you whether you love her or not"

"Do you understand?"
Nicolas tried to refuse but his father interrupted him. Hearing the stern voice of his father, he didn't bother answering. He smiled and drank from his cup. His father smiled too, no one will ever know both of them just had an argument especially since they spoke in low voice.

Corvin doesn't even care about his ratings in the contest, immediately he left the Alpha's present, he sighted a pretty lady who have been waiting for him at corner in the hall. His once stern and strong face melted and turned into a smile as his lips curled up. He went straight to the lady and said
"Wow, you came at the right time."
"My Lord is an Alpha to be, I can be a promising Luna" the lady replied
"Hmm, the business is right in there young lady" Corvin replied and he casted his lustful gaze at the lady.
"I came right for business my Lord"
"I love the of that, what's the name?"
"I'm a beta, call me Lori "

Corvin replied and he took Lori's hand, leading her out of the hall.

Corvin sat up on his bed as he was stroking Lori's arm.
"Come in" his voice sounded and the person knocking the door came in.
"Oh he isno one, just my aide" Corvin said when Lori tried hiding her face when the person entered.
Corvin's aide who has been used to things like this said what he came for "Sir Corvin, Lord Poldark said you are supposedly to dine with him during royal banquet. He request your presence"
"Tell father I'll be there" Corvin said and curled his lips to the left side.
He quickly wore his clothes after his side went out.
"I suppose I'll see later them Miss Lori" he smiled
"Sure thing" Lori replied and dressed up too.
Corvin went back into the Royal Hall. He could feel everyone's eyes on him, none of them had good expressions; mockery, irritated expression was what they all had. Even the old Alpha pulled a long face when he saw Corvin
"How come this guy made it as an Alpha to be?" The Alpha asked with irritation
"It's his family's turn to contest and since he is the only male in his s family, I guess they have no choice" Ragnulf replied.
Corvin negleted all side comments and people's express and went straight to his father and sat down.
"You are a very lucky child!" Lord Poldark said as he looked at his child with pity
"What's wrong Pop?, you and mum don't look very good" Corvin asked. .
"You are a child of disgrace. You have the chance to become to become the Alpha but here you are, misusing it" Lord Poldark replied.
"I've told you Pop, I don't care if I'm the Alpha or not. I…"
"That's why you are a disgrace." Lord Poldark interrupted "currently I have no hope on you because no female will want to mate with you. All you know how to do is f*****g you i***t" Lord Poldark abused.
Corvin hardened his face and his eyes turn red "I'm out of here!" He said and walked out on his father
"You gotta take it easy with him sometimes Poldark" his wife whispered.
Corvin with a swollen face walked past the Alpha again. He could handje it if the whole world is against him but when it comes to his parents, he couldn't take it.
"Guess Lord Poldark ain't easy on him either" Ragnulf said to the Alpha.
"I hate to see such a s**t as a contesting Alpha, it is a ridicule to the position. I can't wait to see strip him off that Alpha to be title" The Alpha said.
"He already has a low score, there's no way he will become the Alpha but if you want him out, you can start a knockout test" Ragnulf advised.
"I don't understand, knockout test have never been used before" The Alpha said.
"You are the Alpha! Just give them a difficult test, whoever has the lowest score in this test wont be allowed to contest anymore. I'm sure this guy will lose terribly" Ragnulf said
"We can't be sure, Malroux Nicolas has the same point as him"
"Says me not the record" Ragnulf said and opened a book in his hand.
The Alpha looked at the record in the book and widened his eyes "so why did you lie?" He asked.
"It will cause an uproar in the hall if this people heard that a Royal scored eight percent, betas will feel more stronger" Ragnulf said.
"I can't wait to start this knockout test" The Alpha said.
"You might as well announce it today and give date". Ragnulf said and passef a message to his aide. He should de went to the party announcer who announced to the people
"The attention of everyone in the room us needed, the Alpha will pass us a message"
The Ragnulf stood up and said "After a deep thought, the Alpha have decided to test the Alphas to be again in five days. This time, whoever lose will be knockoff the competition and won't be allowed to be contest for the Alpha position for the rest his life. All royals should be at Marcus Academy where the Alpha will he tested."
Following Ragnulf's announcement,side comments went through the hall.
Lord Poldark sighed again cause he knew the knockout test is because of his son, even that son didn't hear this announcement.
