“What the hell?" She muttered to herself, staring at him with her mouth slightly agape.
He was so much hotter in person. He towered over her, standing at 6.2ft his black loose curly curtain hairstyle slightly covered his eyes. He had a strong jawline with those lips that ravished her body in the dream. He was lean muscular, perfectly cut. He had a strong and confident aura which altogether made up his bad boy persona.
Arya could feel her heart pounding as their eyes locked. He stretched out her book to her and flashed her a smile, showing these perfect set of teeth.
“You know you should always keep an eye on where you're going, little witch" His voice sent chills down her spine as it reminded her of when he whispered ‘Mine' into her ear in her dream. That slightly deep voice was registered in her head now. She slowly collected the book from him and cleared her throat.
“Off you go little witch" He petted her head and continued on his way.
“What the hell was that?" Blair inquired, walking up to her friend.
“I don't know...Who is that?" She asked, her eyes still fixed on him.
“That's Klaus, the rebellious werewolf I told you about"
Arya stood there by the entrance for God knows how long before Blair snapped her back to reality.
“Hey! Get your head straight, we are late for class. Ms Penelope doesn't take well to students coming late" She grabbed Arya's hand and dragged her into the main hall.
The hall was empty as all students were in their various classes already. They hurriedly made their way to their classroom which was the second to last class on the left through the main hall. They stopped right on their tracks on rushing in and seeing Ms Penelope already standing in front of the whole class, getting ready to begin. “You must be the new transfer student.. First day of class and you're not leading with a good impression" She shook her head at them. “And I thought you would know better Blair"
“Sorry Ms Penelope, we woke up late. It won't happen again" Blair pleaded
“Find your seats, and it better not happen again... and do well to model a good behavior for the rest of the session, new girl" Ms Penelope said to them and then gestured for them to take their seats.
Making their way to the empty seats centered at the middle of the classroom, they sat down side by side, smiling sheepishly as they did so. Arya dropped her book on the table and drew out her pen. This wasn't her first spell class so she knew the basics and all that but still, she knew she didn't even know the beginning of it yet.
“From what we have gathered over time from our previous classes, we should understand by now that casting spells isn't just finding out words from a grimoire and reciting it. No! It's more than that. It's about giving and taking. We don't just cast spells from nowhere, it has to come from somewhere. You're paying a price for every spell you make, and that is why with big spells comes big prices" Ms Penelope explained before turning her eyes to the two vases in front of her. One with a healthy plant and the other with a dead plant.
“Now, lets make a practical example. These are two vases containing same flowers. One alive and blossoming while the other is dead. Take a closer look now as I cast a spell" She Instructed, placing her hands on both plants. She began muttering some spells that were inaudible to the students.
Arya paid closer attention to her lips, watching them move as she tried to figure out the words of the spell she was using. Her attention was drawn to the flowers by the gasp of the other students. She too was surprised as she watched the dead flower come back to life whilst the other slowly died.
“Now you get what I'm trying to paint.. In other for this dead plant to come alive again, this one which was blossoming few seconds ago, had to die. For every spell, there is a price because for every action, there is a reaction" She explained further.
The rest of the class went by quickly for Arya. She was disappointed that the class had to end so quickly. She had always been a lover of spells and Ms Penelope made it sound all so interesting that she didn't want the class to be over just yet but eventually, it was and it was time for their next class. History class! She stood up, closing her note as the others trooped out of the class, heading to the next.
“We should probably get to the next class earlier than we did this" Blair pointed out.
“Yeah definitely. Don't want to make a bad impression on all the teachers"
They finally got to the history classroom in the second hall. The classroom was twice the size of the spell classroom, probably because there were more students taking history. They walked in and luckily for them, Mrs Dawn wasn't in yet. Students were still settling in. They located empty seats at the corner of the classroom by the window. As usual, both girls sat side to side
“So, Klaus" Arya whispered to Blair.
Shooting her a questioning look, Blair adjusted to face her. “What do you mean so Klaus?"
“There's no ‘So Klaus'. He's bad news Arya, it's best you stay away from him totally." Blair pointed out
“Relax Blair, I'm not saying I want to jump on him or anything. I just want to know who he is, that's all" She shrugged
“Alright.. He's the only wolf in the entire school who has yellow eyes, and he's just 18. How's that for ‘who he is'?"
“Wait! You mean...."
“Yeah Arya, he has taken a life" Blair stated, seeing the shocked look on her friend's face. “Like I said, it's best you stay away from him" She reiterated just before her eyes shifted to the entrance. “Speak of the devil" She muttered
Arya followed her friend's eyes and her gaze landed on Klaus who just walked into the classroom. Her heart skipped a beat on seeing him again.
Somehow he looked even hotter and better now that she had fully observed him. Watching him and taking the sight of him all in as he began walking over. Why was she having this mystery wolf in her dream, and not just in her dream, he was doing things to her too. These thoughts were all spinning in her head until she realized he was actually walking over to where they were.
“Oh my God he's coming over"
“Act cool and be calm like he isn't there" Blair advised.
Arya swallowed when he reached their seats and to add to her nervousness, he said nothing but just sat directly behind her.
‘Just great' She thought, shaking her head.
“Hello again little witch" He whispered directly into her ear.
She turned and her face almost brushed his. She swiftly turned her attention back to the chalkboard. Luckily for her, the teacher walked in hurriedly, adjusting her glasses and patting her short red hair. The whole class fell into silence immediately and everyone quickly composed themselves.
“Well let's dive into it, shall we?" Mrs Dawn started.
“Todays topic is about the history of Phoenix high" Her eyes fell on Arya as she finished uttering her words.
“Your face is new, you must be the new transfer student, Arya" She pointed at Arya.
“Yes ma'am" Arya nodded
“Good. Well let's move on. Before we continue, I have an assignment for you all. It's going to be done in pairs. You and your partner will come up with an essay that tells the history of the elder council. How it all started and how it has affected our world" She announced.
“This is so awkward" Arya whispered softly to Blair, pointing at Klaus discreetly.
“Just avoid him as much as possible" Blair muttered
“Arya! You will pair up Klaus" Mrs Dawn's voice rang through the class.
Arya's jaw dropped on hearing this. She couldn't help but laugh at how ironic her situation was. She turned to her friend who had buried her face in her palms, feeling her pain and feeling sympathetic for her.
