“Here, change into these.” I said after handling her some clothes Tina packed for her. I was here to take her and her kid home.
Where they belonged.
She was giving me the silent treatment which anused me but I didn’t mind. It gave me time to think of a lot of things, like how I’ll murder Tristan for example. That bastard really came here last night. Of course Zara never knew cause she most likely sleeping when the creep came in here. I should have placed a guard right by her door but I hadnt want to bring unnecessary attention her way.
“Let me hold her.” I told her when we stepped out of the ward, pluking the kid from her grasp before she could respond. She huffed, clearly having a lot to say but choosing to remain silent.
The kid blinked at me but at least she wasn’t crying.
“Did you bring a car seat?” She asked as we got outside the hospital and I looked over at her, feeling desire pool within me as my eyes zeroed on the way the clothes hugged her body.
Last night didn’t sate the hunger within me at all. It worsened it.
“What car seat?”
“For Aaliyah.” She pointed out, looking esparated.
So that’s the kid’s name.
“I forgot about that.”
She huffed but remained silent. But it’s not my fault that I could barely think about anything aside killing Tristan after I got off the phone with him last night.
I’ll get a car seat when next we have to leave the house.
Once in the car, I handed the kid off to her, and my eyes caught a bruise right underneath her throat. My eyes instantly darkened and when she noticed, she slapped a hand over the spot but I pulled her hand away.
“It’s fine, really.” She whispered quietly, her gaze averted.
“It’s not.” I growled. “But you won’t ever be seeing him again anyway.” I slammed her door close before she could respond, anger gripping me hard when I slid into the driver’s seat.
The air was tense with silence as I pulled out of the driveway.
When my phone rang, I stared at the screen. A girl, Hannah was calling. Hannah was trying to get more than a f**k from me and I was tired of telling her that’s impossible.
After the phone stopped ringing, Zara broke the silence.
“That’s your woman?”
I squinted in confusion. “What?”
“I mean, you must have a woman in your life now, right?” She asked and I glanced at her, scoffing.
“Why? You jealous?”
She scoffed. “As if. I’d rather kill myself.” She shot back.
That made my chest fill with anger. She was being ridiculous and I was gonna make her take those words back soon.
The rest of the drive was silent and when I finally pulled up in front of my house, a large duplex, I almost crashed into the car parked right beside my house… and the person standing right in front of the car.
“What’s he doing here?!” I gritted out angrily just as Zara sat up, her eyes filling with surprise before her face split into a glowing, beautiful grin.
“Tristan!” She cried out as she unhooked her seatbelt and was out the car at once, running right into Tristan’s arms.
My eyes twitched with anger and I remained in the car, calming my anger down cause I knew I’d only traumatize Zara if I go out there and put a bullet through that bastard’s head. I’ll do it after she goes in, I’ll kill him on the spot.
I finally got out of the car and approached them, catching the end of their conversation.
“She’s so adorable, and she looks just like you!”
Zara was grinning, staring up at Tristan as he threw Aaliyah in the air a few times. Aaliyah was giggling heartily and I felt betrayed that she had instantly warned up to Tristan. I don’t remember Zara and Tristan ever interacting in the past. How come they just reunited like long lost friends? Why’s she smiling at him and why did they f*****g hug?
“What are you doing here, asshole?” I gritted out once Tristan had the kid nestled against his chest, looking much more natural at it than me.
“Don’t swear around her!” Zara cautioned and I rolled my eyes.
“I was here to see you. And coincidentally, look who showed up!” He gushed while Zara laughed, but I wasn’t buying those words. He did this on purpose. He somehow knew I’d bring her over here this morning and came to wait here. He’s as sneaky as a fox and I hated how smart he was at connecting pieces.
“Well, now you’ve seen me. You can leave now.” I grounded out, keeping my cool because of Zara. Clearly Tristan had figured that out and was determined to milk it to the fullest.
“I can’t just leave. it’s been long since we hung out. And besides, I’d like to catch up on some stuff with Zara here.” He drawled, grinning at me and I so much want to break his nose.
Fucking bastard. We’ve never hung out our entire life.
Meanwhile, Zara happily looked between us. “You two are friends now? Wow! But you never got along in the past!”
“We are. We’re matured now.” Tristan said at the same time i said, “we’re not. We’ll never be friends.”
“Come in with us, Tristan. Aaliyah clearly loves you and we can also catch up a little.” Zara spoke, baffling me. She just invited him into my own house.
Cause she clearly has no idea he just wants to f**k her. Clueless as ever.
“Tristan can’t stay, he has things to take care of.” I spoke as I tried to take Aaliyah from him, but he moved away.
“I have time. Work can wait.”
I felt on the verge of exploding from anger as Tristan followed us into the house, while imagining so many ways I was gonna kill him for what he just pulled today.
“So, Lotus… why are you suddenly back?” Tristan asked, seated right beside her in my sitting room, to my utmost anger. Aaliyah was busy crawling around on the ground.
I noticed Zara stiffen and clear her throat.
“A little vacation.” She responded.
I snorted before I could stop myself and she flushed.
Tristan kept staring at her as he nodded, but I knew he didn’t buy that. He was too smart to.
Tristan and Zara were talking about one thing then the other, switching past topics faster than I could pick up, and that made me realize that they really had some things linking them together from the past, like Tristan’s little sister for example.
I kept glaring daggers at Tristan. He was sitting too close to Zara for my liking, and he was basically undressing her with his eyes. Of course, Zara didn’t notice, too busy being clueless. Presently, he was showing her some pictures of his dog and she was leaning into him, her t**s right on his arm. That drove me so crazy and I tried reminding myself to remain under control, that Tristan would soon be gone then she’ll be all mine. But I was too enraged cause the guy in question was Tristan, my arch enemy.
Before I could stop myself, I was on my feet. “Can I see you in my office for a moment, Tristan? I have something important to tell you.”
He subtly rolled his eyes. “Is it really important?”
“Yes.” I bit out.
He sighed as he reluctantly got off, leaving his phone with Zara and accompanying me down the hallway and into my office.
Once the door slammed close, I slammed him hard against the door, enraged out of my mind.
“What the f**k was that about?”
He grinned. “I told you I was gonna get what I want, didn’t I?”
I’d have ripped his throat out right now if i wouldn’t have to explain his death to Zara. Today is his lucky day.
“You’ll do no such thing. In fact, you’ll be leaving now.” I gritted out and he tried but failed to shove me off cause I was stronger, no matter how much he tried to delude himself into thinking he was as strong as me.
“Why? Because you want to f**k her?” He hurled at me, now seething. “I never missed the way you used to look at her back then!”
When I went still, he scoffed and rolled his eyes.
“What? You’re shocked? I never missed the way you used to undress her with your damn eyes whenever Micah wasn’t looking, the way you’ve always clearly want to f**k her. Bet Micah, who clearly trusted you with his little sister never knew the way you desired her!”
He hit the nail right on the head, and despite feeling surprised that he figured me out like this, I refused to let it deter me.
My grip tightened on his shirt. “So what? So what if I want to f**k her? Yes, I do want to f**k her and I will. You know why? Cause she f*****g belongs to me. She’s mine. So, stop wasting your time and get lost.”
He visibly bristled, staring at me with so much hatred before scoffing. “That’s ridiculous. Zara doesn’t f*****g belongs to you, the f**k? Not when I have a claim to lay on her. You’re gonna be here and see when I get to have her first.”
A grin tugged at me lips. “I think you’re a little too late, cause guess what? I already got to f**k her in the past. Once again, you’ll always be second best to me.”
I didn’t see his hand swing until it connected hard with my face.
