chapter 1
The skies were blue and meek the birds sang their songs the creeping things of the earth did their mundane task just like the villagers of a settlement in a disclosed location surrounded by the mountains acting as watchful guardians of a village in a disclosed location, there lived a boy named Ethel he lived an ordinary life like everyone else though Ethel was enamored by the tales of Heroism and valor and the glories of being a knight a soldier. He, too, wondered if he can become like the mighty heroes he read about in the stories of old. His home village did not know where they originated from not even the elders knew, they would only hear tales of a time long forgotten of a mighty civilization that ruled with benevolence ensuring that peace and prosperity ruled the land and destroyed any that would disturb the order. But these legends were only treated as legends' stories to tell children. It was as if it was meant to be forgotten or intentionally destroyed. A strange man from far off lands covered in blood yelled in terror and anguish the stench of death plagued the air
"They spared no one, the women r***d and killed, children, babes, young men taken captive!! "
"They are coming this way, flee all of you now!! "
In his dying breath, the strange man collapses dead on the ground. Babes begun to cry children begin to tremble in fear parents distraught and fearful Ethel being a child knew no better only saw this as an opportunity to prove himself and make a hero out of himself. Must to his parent's dismay they and all the villagers begun to take their belongings to flee
"We need to fight" Ethel says enthusiastically
"Hush boy" his father says with anger
But there was no time to flee, in the distance a cloud of flaming arrows poured down on the unsuspecting villagers as army and beast descended the mountains, in an instant homes burned to the ground soldiers slaughtered all they saw, the once lush green grass now laced red with the blood of the innocent. Soldiers laughed as they fed people to their beast and toyed with people before selecting whom to take captive and whom to put down like dogs. Ethel only thought to fight back, but his efforts were brought low his mother rushes in with a sword shouting
"Let him go! "
She is struck to the ground and held down, her husband tries and reasons with the soldiers, but they only laugh and beat him senseless, forcing Ethel and her mother to watch while they giggled. They kill his father Ethel can only think to fight back while he struggled in the grip of the soldier
"This one is strong" the soldier says playfully
"Put it with the others, we could use more able-bodied slaves, kill the w***e we have enough of those"
