Chapter One - The Arrest
Fabian's Point Of View "Daddy?" "Yes, angel." "Where is mom? It had been a week since I last saw her. What is wrong? Did she travel? Or is she on a vacation?" She questioned dad who looked sad and confused. It had been a week since we last saw mom and he had tried all means to get to her, went to places he knew and thought she would be, met with friends and families asking of her whereabouts but all to no avail. "Why don't we involve the police, let's lay a complaint about a missing person.” "Yeah, I was thinking of going there today, I think it's about time I do something about it." "Is mom missing? She looked at us suspiciously. "Come on, mom is not missing, okay?" "Then why do we need the police? You just mentioned involving the police, for what?" I scratched and shook my head then turned to my daddy who looked the same, moody and confused, just then the gate bell rang and I went to get who was at the gate and found two policemen and Uncle Nelson, who followed me back to the house. "I'm Officer James and this is Sergeant Billy", he said pointing at the other man, he looked at Dorothy then dad and said to him, "can we have a little discussion over there?" Pointing at the far end of the living room. The cops had a little discussion with dad at the far end of the living room while Uncle Nelson kept a very serious face raging with wrath. Dad hesitated in following them which made Nelson pull him forcefully out of the house. "Daddy!!!" Dorathy cried running after dad who was being dragged out by Uncle Nelson. I don't understand why these police officers are not even doing anything, he had just brought them to arrest dad for the whereabouts of his twin sister, my mom, at least they should do their job, it’s what they are being paid for. "Stop shouting, dad will be okay. Officers can you please take my dad away from him, at least treat him well, he is just a suspect." "No!!! Please, don't take my daddy away. Please, Uncle Nels..." Uncle Nelson cut in rudely, "don't call me, girl! I'm doing you guys a big favor, a very big favor, this murderer here must be put to jail" "I'm not a murderer, how can I kill my wife, she is the love of my life", he said sobbing, "I can't..." Uncle Nelson interrupted him rudely, "mister man, shut your mouth up, I'm not a murderer how can I kill my wife blah blah blah", he mimicked him, "nonsense" he hissed, "because such is written on the forehead for all to see, on your forehead, i***t", he said sarcastically and mockingly laughed at him. Officer James faced Uncle Nelson, "mister man, please shut your mouth so we can get our job done", he said as he led my dad out. Dad smiled, looked at Uncle Nelson, and said, "Can you see now?" "Hey! Shut up and move, stop wasting our time", Sergeant Billy interjected. "You!" He called, pointing at Dorathy, "stop crying before I give you a resounding slap." Dad shouted immediately "you dare not try it, what nonsense!" He hissed. Officer James lightly pulled dad and said "mister man anything you say or do now will be used against you in the court of law. So you are to remain calm and silent." Uncle Nelson laughed lightly, "mister murderer, have you heard? Remain quiet." “And you too, Mister man. Not a word from your mouth. Now move it.” "Please, can I give my son some instructions?" "Okay, just a minute and be fast", said Sergeant Billy. Dad called me and I answered very weakly. "When Joy gets back, tell her about this, what your uncle has done and tell her to call my friend, Mr.E. He will do something about this. Take Dora inside and calm her down", he faced Dorathy. "Sorry baby, dad will be fine okay?" "Dad, when will you be back? Dorathy asked. "Very soon, very soon baby." "And bring mom when coming back home, okay?" Dad could not say anything, he was speechless having mixed feelings. Uncle Nelson rudely said to him, "why don't you answer her, pathetic fool?" He cussed. Dad looked at Uncle Nelson disgustingly and turned to look at Dorathy, he smiled at her affectionately, "I will bring mom back, now go with your brother, okay?" She smiled, wiping the tears on her face, "yes I will", she moved closer and held hands with me. Uncle Nelson called when he got to the gate, "hey! Secure yourself and lock the gate and doors behind", he moved out with dad and the policemen into the van waiting for them. I sighed quietly after securing the gate, took hold of Dorathy, "Let go inside Dorry." "Bro, can you take me to the Des restaurant?" "To do what?" "What is done in a restaurant?" "Don't ask me silly questions and let go inside." “I'm not asking you a silly question, I'm just trying to figure out if you know what a restaurant is for?” "Dorathy! I don't have time for any silly games this afternoon, I’m tired, let's just go inside and wait for Joy to get back." “I'm not playing games, I just want to go to Des restaurant, that's all, is that too hard to get?" “I don't think so”, she added, "just escort me to the restaurant for a few minutes”, she continued. "You are acting weird. One, you don't like restaurants, especially Des restaurants. Two, you don't like me escorting you to anywhere and three, you don't go out when there is no one at home. So what's up?" "I had a dream, a very detailed dream." "A dream?" I laughed jokingly. "Are you being serious right now?" I looked at her intensively, “I’m not falling for that, Dorry”, I added laughing. "It's not funny, not at all. Why are you even laughing? Because I had a dream? Jeez! I can't believe you." "You know sometimes I wonder if truly you are just five years ago or you are the spirit of a dead wise man put in a body five years ago, you never cease to amaze me, Dorry." "Thanks but there is no time for this, we need to get to Des restaurant before it's too late." I sat on the stair that led into the house and looked at Dorathy who looked eager to get to the restaurant. “Tell me what this dream is all about then I might consider if we go or not.” "I can't tell you, you won't believe me, you've never done it." "I will this time around, I promise I will believe you." "I don't want promises, I want you to believe because when you believe me, it makes everything very very easy, easy peasy." "Okay sisto, let's do it."
