The creatures hesitated, their eyes gleaming in the dim moonlight as they circled us. I could feel the tension building, a palpable force that seemed to stretch the air tighter with every passing second. Adrian’s breath was coming in harsh gasps, and his gaze never left the creatures, his body coiled like a spring, ready to strike at any moment. For a fleeting moment, I wondered if we could really survive this. If we were strong enough, together. But the creatures weren’t backing down. Instead, they were studying me—eyes narrowing, mouths twitching into cruel smiles. One of them stepped forward, its movements slow and deliberate, as if testing me. “Interesting,” it hissed, its voice low and dripping with malice. “So, you’re the one. The bond—the one who can wield the power of the moon.”
