Kidnapped
Under the stare of the vast dark sky, Sihu looks down at the roaring river flowing beneath the bridge she stood on. Her heart does another flip and she turns around to see the deserted bridge. There was no one to save her, no one to stop her. Maybe this was the last of her life. She won't back off this time. This time she will jump. Her brain goes back to the day's ordeals. It was her twenty-fourth birthday and her parents had organised a party at their huge fancy guest house. She had thought this day would change everything, this day would make people look at her differently, this birthday was supposed to be the new morning of her life, but now she wanted to make it last.
It was her cousin Harsh who decided to ruin her day by humiliating her badly in front of all the party guests.
"You told Teena about my past? How dumb can you be?" Harsh had yelled at her pulling her away from the party crowd.
"It slipped off my mouth and I said nothing more than that you hit your previous girlfriend once."
"You stupid Sihu, you were not supposed to tell that. Now she has left the party, she said she doesn't want to talk to me ever again." Harsh had frustratingly waved his fingers in his dark brown hair. He tugged on his suit for leverage as he tried to restrain his anger.
"It wasn't a lie though. You did hit your girlfriend, that's why she left you, Teena deserved to know that. Maybe you should work on your anger issues instead of yelling at me in the hallway when I am the heart of the party.
"You? You are nothing but a tiny little s**t that can't make her own life so she keeps spoiling others." Harsh said with so must poison in his words that Sihu almost backed away. She looked down at the violet gown that was sweeping the floor with its extra length.
"Okay. Now I can't go back in time, right? So let it go."
"I am not letting this go. You have to pay for what you have done."
"What do you want from me?" She didn't even want to go back to what happened next. This wasn't the first time her family had looked down on her, her cousin had humiliated her when everyone, even her parents and siblings watched. It was Priya, just Priya who stood by her and supported her. She was the one who kicked Harsh out of the party like every time. She was Harsh's sister and still supported Sihu every time she needed her. But, now was the time to go. This was the last of her life.
She closed her eyes and felt the cold fresh air that hit her face with night chill. And at last, jumped into the dark pool of nothingness. A second later, her body hit hard with the water and pain of a billion needles passed through her body. And just as sudden, she landed on a solid floor. She opened her eyes into an infinite long hallway with light grey walls on both sides and lifted her hand up to feel the heartbeat. It was there which means she wasn't dead, she was alive. But where was she?
"Nice of you to join us. How do you take your tea? Milk, no milk. Sugar, no sugar." Sihu turned to see this most elegant and beautiful woman she had ever seen in her entire life. She was a bit older than Sihu and had long blonde hair with gently tanned pale skin. She wasn't tall, not even of Sihu's height, maybe around five feet and had silver kettle in her hand.
"Who are you?" Sihu asked this beautiful woman wearing nothing but a red, smooth silk cloth spiralling her body. She had the most beautiful amber eyes and smoothest red lips.
"How do you take your tea?" She asked again instead of answering.
"Where am I?"
"Nowhere."
"What do you mean nowhere?"
"Nowhere is, it is your dream. You need to wake up." Said the woman. The silence of the long hallway was heavy and she could feel the weight of it seeping through her water dripping clothes. But she wasn't cold, in fact it was kind of warm and soothing.
"What am I supposed to do? Kick the wall, pinch myself?" Sihu said, exasperated.
"You lose your cool too fast, love. You need to be patient."
"Oh, come on." Sihu said and pushed her shoulder hard on the wall and instead of bumping back, she was falling off. Into the night sky full of huge stars that were close enough to feel the heat but not enough to reach.
"Open your eyes, Sihu. Now." The voice of the same woman said and Sihu gasped as her eyes snapped open.
She shut her eyes back close at the brightness of the room she was in. She opened her eyes again and this time the room was bearable to look at. It was a normal sized space with piercing white paint. There was a shelf with a bunch of strange plant pots on top and several books in later sections. Other than the bed she was sleeping on, there was no other materialistic object. She climbed off the bed and her feet touched the warm floor of the perfectly semicircular room. There was not a voice to be heard other than the sound of her own breathing. She touched the oval shape on the wall that glowed on the edges with a yellow light. It must be the door, she wondered.
"Hello?" She called and heard her own voice echo back. She then pushed on the glowing wall and it opened this time, revealing a young man of around her age. He had really bright pink hair and honey skin.
"Hello human. Can I come in?" He said and brushed her aside to enter the room and sat down on her bed, laying his long nailed fingers on the white mattress.
Sihu looked out where he came in and saw several other similar doors, all closed and glowing. At the end of the lane there was a different kind of door and it was covered with black and red straps. Its doorknob was tied with different coloured ribbons.
"You like it?" The strange man said and Sihu turned back to him and nodded.
"Where am I?"
"It's my shelter. I provide space for our new guests on the way."
"But where is this shelter?"
"The spaceship."
"Spaceship?"
"Yes. You are on the way to Grey-Heavens and I am your new friend Mori."
