Ariel however was not buying it, “You guys will probably died to Slinks”
“You have slinks here? Which kind?” asked Sly, finally showing interest in the discussion.
“On this side, there will be water ones and across the abyss, in the other starting city you can find thunder ones”
“You are in for a treat Sami, they are delicious”
“Yay!”
“Snort, with that low level...dream on. Even the lower level ones are level 5”.
The Commander was going to say something else but Nova was already creating an Ice weapon in her hand. She had a short temper and was getting tired of being belittled.
He saw that things were going to get out of hand and had no other choice but to step in, he didn’t know if the people in front of him would hold a grudge.
The weapon in Nova’s hand was weak, and that made her even more upset. All she wanted was to smack Ariel in the face with her ice hammer.
In the meantime, the necklace had already started suppressing their powers to level 1 and at the same time it was downloading information.
A prompt appeared on Sly’s line of sight that said, would you like to download the Astoria, City of light data package.
“Is it safe K.C?”
“Yeah, No virus were found. It looks like it is designed to work with the necklace you have but since you have a chip then it allows us to choose”.

5 stats can be released per level. Players can choose where to assign the stats until they achieve their true values. This provided a weird element to the game, if somebody was weak to begin with, then no matter how many levels they increased, they were capped by their original values.
It was indeed troublesome for some, but there was always a solution for everything and it so happened that Astoria was a place where fishes turned into dragons. The battle store provided technological enhancement and DNA manipulation that could be purchased with either battle points or rupees, it was a land of opportunity for some.
Information was coming non-stop and when it stopped, a hologram with their own data appeared from the necklace of anybody that did not have a chip.
Even Max’s Mecha suit appeared and the values of his stats changed when inside the suit.
The Commander scanned the three person’s data and knew that the team was well put together, he had time to check out the ultimate skills of Sami, Max and Nova and smiled. It was a very ingenious way to know the champions you were getting, specially the ones that would be an asset later on.
They could kill two birds with one stone, look good and cooperative and select the best of the best.
“Not weak at all,” he thought.
Sly and Broxa had chips so the holograms were not displayed but that in itself gave Ramael a lot of information.
“Ariel, you know the rules! Take them to see Lord Raphael and then show them around” He gave his daughter a look that said you better behave and he motioned for the group to move to the side while the portal displayed the name of the next group before seven more people came through.
“Sigh… let’s go”
The team followed after Ariel and started taking in the sights. Immediately after leaving the portal area, they went up a set of stairs that looked like they were taken from the most expensive palace of the 1600’s. The stairs were wide and were made of extremely polish white stone. They wrapped around the statue of a beautiful woman holding a water vase.
The stairs ended into a long hallway that opened up into a magnificent square where people came and went. There was a giant tower in the distance and a lot of bridges could be seen supported by giant pillars into the sky.
The more they walked the higher they went, it was truly a sight to behold.
“There are Five districts in Astoria. The trade district, the Coliseum, the residential area, the enhancement quarters and finally, the Imperial Tower and its surrounding areas where our soldiers train and the leaders of our faction reside. Don’t think that because the city looks the way it does, that we don’t have all the advanced technologies that you guys enjoy on the outside, let me show you”
The team continued to take it all in and before they knew it, they were in a giant open space where a bunch of Hovercrafts and transportation ships were parked and ready to go to different places. It was a transportation terminal.
“The beginner area is called the Ice Lake forest and will allow you to increase your levels to 10. Level 10 is the minimum requirement for you to have access to the death matches and if you want to fight the other faction in the open world, then you need to be level 20 to access the rift. For the purpose of the game, our digital currency will be available to you and the balance can be exchanged for E.C if you make it out alive. You have been awarded 100 Rupee to start. You are free to do whatever you want to earn Rupees , learn a craft, hunt, become a soldier, it is up to you. There have been many players that decide to stay after the games are done and live here permanently”
Before the team knew it, they were standing in front of the tower that was once in the distance.
The opulence of the decorations was on another level.
There were people working diligently on a stack of papers and it was just like any other government agency on earth before technology took over. All the jobs were done by individuals and not machines, it had a certain charm to some of the members of the team. It made them forget that there was a war going on in all sectors of the known universe.
The team followed Ariel through the red carpeted floors and finally reached a room that had a main desk and very luxurious couches where 5 people sat around listening to a 7 feet tall man that had 2 horns on his head. He was encased in body armor that had runes on them that shone with a bright light and made it hard to look at him directly.
It was very lucky for Sly that he was wearing his Nanotron mask. Ariel stepped through the door and indicated to the team that they should stand still while she saluted.

“Is it that time already?” said Raphael while observing the people standing behind her.
“Yes Sir! I brought them over following the instructions of Commander Ramael. These are the first batch”
While the report was given, K.C was scanning Grant Marshal with interest.

While Sly was talking with his trusted companions, Raphael gave them a small speech, "Thank you for choosing our city. I hope that you can learn to cherish it as much as we do. If you have any questions I am pretty sure Ariel can answer them for you. There is nothing outside that can't be won on the inside so work hard to earn points. Good luck"
The Grant Marshal turned away from the group indicating that he was done with the meeting but what happened next sucker punched Ariel in the gut.
Sly stood in place and said, "what about your armor ? Is it winnable?"
“INSOLENCE!!” a member of the group that was clear of lower rank than the Marshal yelled.
The Marshal stop his subordinate that was about to attack, smiled and replied, "If you can kill Mamom, I'll give to you"
"Is he a lord too?"
"Yes"
Excuse him, Grant Marshal, he doesn't know the difference between heaven and earth.
Ariel gave Sly a nasty look and quickly got the group out of the room before they got her court marshal.
Not everyone was as forgiven as Raphael in the army and some of the council members were tired of putting up with the "champions" behavior. In a place we're strength was king their almost lord level fighting power was to be respected.
