Jasper
Up until my 18th birthday I thought of Eva as an annoying younger room mate. She refused to accept me as her sibling so I reciprocated those feelings.
We grew up together. Eva is an extremely powerful half angel with strength that is unheard of. Children of one angel parent can recieve heavenly powers such as psychic medium abilities but Eva's powers rivaled those of some of the strongest angels.
When we were first coming into our powers we would spend the afternoons testing each other. She would try to connect with her biological father while I practiced different spells using only light magic. Eva's blood father passed away when she was only three years old.
Seeing her growing bond with her own blood father, I convinced her to contact mine. That was when things changed between us. The girl who was previously my friend grew to resent me.
Eva also had visions. I was the only person she ever described them to but after contacting my father that stopped as well.
Throughout the past year, the small glimmers I felt towards Eva changed into something more. No longer was Eva the annoying little girl but instead a beautiful, vivacious young woman.
As a Warlock, I am not destined to a fated love, a soul mate created for you by the Gods, but it is not unheard of for those who are of light magic. Being the son of the darkest warlock to exist I knew I would not be so lucky.
It was Eva’s 18th birthday and after today she planned to put as much distance between us as possible. At 6:01pm my sweet Eva would officially be 18. I could not see her go.
As 5pm rolled around the entire family gathered in our dining room to wish Eva a happy birthday before the guests arrived.
“Eva, baby, you have always been my light even during my darkest times. I cannot wait to see everything you shall accomplish now that you are grown. Happy birthday sweetheart. I love you,” Ana, our mother said.
“Eva, you made me a father. Before I met you and your mother, I never thought I would settle down let alone hold the name of Dad. You changed that and I will always be grateful. Your mother and I know you will do great things so long as you keep your light shining,” Derek told her.
Two years after Eva's biological father passed away her mother met Derek, her fated love. Derek had been Eva's father most of her life.
“Hey Eva!!! You are the best big sister! Can you help me with flying again after your party?” Edward, our youngest brother asked. Edward was a full angel and had been having some difficulty coordinating his wings. Eva's energy could assist while I put up a protective barrier ensuring he did not hurt himself, not that he needed it. Edward was an extremely powerful angel of protection but had yet to master his forces.
Now it was my turn to wish Eva a happy 18th birthday.
“Eva, I think you know I love you. I am not sure what happened between us but I wish with this birthday we can rekindle our friendship. Either way I truly hope you find all you are looking for,” I spoke with sincerity.
Rolling her eyes at my birthday wishes she proceeded to say, “Well, thanks guys. I love most of you too.”
“Eva!” Ana scolded. “I'm not sure what happened but whether it's your birthday or not you need to treat Jasper with respect. After your party we are sitting down to talk.”
“Like Hell we are,” Eva replied as the doorbell rang.
Opening the door, two tall angels about the same age as I, walked through. The first picked Eva up, spinning her around while the second came over to kiss her on the cheek as soon as her feet were back on the ground.
Overtaken by jealousy, I wanted nothing more than to rip their hands from her body and force them to leave but I held back. There was going to be plenty of that tonight. All I could do was hope her fated did not walk through the door. If that happened my heart would shatter.
I just had to wait another 30 minutes as guests continued to pile through giving Eva overly friendly birthday wishes. At 6:01pm, if her fated was here she would know as would I. I was not taking my eyes off her.
Watching the clock became my obsession. 25 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes… time was moving at a ponderous pace. As I counted down an angel approached me.
I could not help but notice her beauty. The girl had long dark hair, gorgeous blue eyes and stunning curves which were clearly visible through the skin tight black mini dress she wore.
“Hey handsome, would you like to dance?”
I could not deny the attraction but my mind was elsewhere.
“Um… can you wait about five minutes?” I asked.
“How about I wait with you. My name is Celine. What do you go by?”
She obviously was not going to let it go. I gave in to temptation while doing my best to keep an eye on the time. If Ana met her fated I would need a distraction.
“I am Jasper. It is very nice to meet you Celine,” I replied, giving her one of my signature smirks most girls could not resist.
With that, Celine ignored my previous request and wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me back to our large living room turned dance floor.
Once we found a secluded spot the breathtaking angel turned her back to me and began moving her hips. I could not help it and lost myself in her movements. She was incredible, momentarily allowing my mind to wander from Eva.
“Get the Hell away from him you sl**!” a voice yelled from over my shoulder. Ignoring the angry orders Celine repositioned and kissed me. Her soft lips were incredible while they moved briefly against my own.
As soon as the kiss began I felt her being yanked away. Eva grabbed Celine by the hair, throwing her to the ground.
“Eva! What are you doing?!” I shouted.
“The dumb bi*** is jealous,” I heard Celine from her spot on the floor.
Looking at the clock I saw the time was 6:05pm. Why was Eva here? She was meant to be off finding her fated, a task I planned on stopping.
I looked to Eva who's face was a mixture of confusion, anger and lust.
“It cannot be!” I heard Derek say from behind me.
Eva suddenly turned and bolted to the back door. As she rushed into the empty yard I could have sworn the infamous 'woosh' of an angel could be heard.
