His wife, Mrs. Bako, was a homemaker, taking care of their three children: Sonny, Becher, and Angony. Life was good, but it all came crashing down one fateful day."I'm sorry, Mr. Bako," the HR manager said, her voice devoid of emotion. "The company is downsizing, and your position has been eliminated."Mr. Bako felt like he had been punched in the gut. He had always been a diligent worker, never missing a day or coming late. How could this be happening to him? He walked home, his head hung low in shame and despair. When he arrived home, his family noticed the distress on his face. "What's wrong, dear?" The sacrifice
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Mr. Bako's job loss had sent shockwaves through the family. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't find a new job. The family's savings dwindled, and the atmosphere at home grew tense. The children, once carefree and full of laughter, now worried about their future. Sonny, the eldest, felt the weight of responsibility on his shoulders. He wanted to help his parents, but he didn't know how. One day, the school called, reminding the family that the fees were overdue. Mr. Bako felt a knot in his stomach as he explained the situation to the school administration. "We'll pay soon, sir," he promised. But the promise was hard to keep. The family's financial struggles worsened, and the children were eventually sent home from school. The principal's words still lingered in Mr. Bako's mind: "If the fees aren't paid, the children will have to leave." The unthinkable happened. Sonny and Becher, the two older children, had to drop out of school to support their family. Sonny found work as an apprentice in a local mechanic's shop, while Becher started selling goods at the market. Angony, the youngest, was lucky enough to secure a scholarship to continue his education. As the days went by, Sonny and Becher's lives changed dramatically. They worked long hours, sacrificing their childhood and education for the sake of their family. Their parents, though grateful for their help, couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness. They knew their children were sacrificing their futures, and it broke their hearts. Meanwhile, Angony continued his studies, oblivious to the struggles his siblings faced. He would soon realize the sacrifices they made for him to have this opportunity.
