Chapter 17
Reine was still reeling from what Charlotte had said after dropping off Eva at school. During their trip to the office, she had added Reine to the list of who could pick up Eva and had even introduced her to the school administrator as Eva’s mother. On the walk back, they’d talked about everything else, Marcus’s sisters and brothers and the dynamics of a close-knit family Reine had never thought could exist.
“It looks like you have a visitor,” Reine said, gesturing to their house and the pickup out front. She knew the man on the front porch, bulked out, with short hair, had to be Luke, as she recognized him from a photo in the living room.
“Iris said Luke was back. He’s the brother in the special forces. Gone one minute, and then who knows when he’s back? Hey, Luke,” Charlott
